“The most exceptional property in the area”. The cabin is built on large stone boulders overhanging the Rocky Broad River. Climb the cascading waterfall on the property. Fish from one of the large boulders, just steps from your door. Swim in the waterhole. Tube down the falls. Hop the stones. Or quietly watch for wildlife. You can do all of this while chatting with those relaxing on one of the 2 large decks, one of the stone patios, or one of the large rocks. It’s an experience you’ll never forget!
Take a short stroll to downtown Chimney Rock with its unique shops and restaurants. Walk to the entrance of Chimney Rock State Park. Or spend the day on Lake Lure with its many water activities.
When entering the main home, you will be stepping back to the ambience of a 1930’s mountain cabin with original wood floors, ceilings and walls. The living room and dining room have been opened to view the outside scenery. The furniture is custom-made mountain laurel. All the bathrooms have been updated and enlarged. The large fully equiped modern kitchen will be a gathering place with its elevated table. It’ll be easy to prepare for a crowd with the 5-burner gas stove and double oven. Or if you prefer, cook on the grill outside the back door.
You’ll never lack for activities for the family. There’s a firepit at water’s edge for visiting and roasting marshmellows, a large yard for yard games, stone benches for watching the sun set, patios for viewing your own private cascading waterfall, the 360 degree mountain views, or Chimney Rock and Hickory Nut Falls in Chimney Rock State Park. Or walk along the landscaped stone paths to take in the beauty of the site and the exotic trees and plants.
A one room stone cottage sits next to the main house. It sits high on a large boulder and is built of native stone 16 inches thick. It features a full bath and an efficiency kitchen. All of the above amenities of the site are available for your enjoyment. This cottage can be rented as a package with the cabin or seperately. Please call for details and rate information.

This mountain home was bought by a mother and her adult professional children. This is our dream second home and have enjoyed numerous family get togethers and quality time together since the cabins purchase.
Bernadine Darling purchased this cabin in 2011
The property is a very short stroll to downtown Chimney Rock. Restaurants and shopping are truely a 2 minute walk away as well as the entrance to Chimney Rock State Park. Although it is right in town the property itself is extremely private with the most breathtaking views of the Rocky Broad River, the mountains, a cascading waterfall outside your back door, and private paths. The property is unlike anything we have ever dreamed of as it has everything we could have possible wanted or needed as far as location and views
You can't help but relax and enjoy the nature and mountain air. We watch the river otter sunning himself on the large rock next to our swimming hole, while getting the fishing pole ready for a day of trout fishing outside our back door. We relax by the fire pit, while counting the fireflys illuminating the night sky. We get up to enjoy the sunrise while sitting on our private stone bench and eat our picnic lunch on a rock in the middle of the cascading fall in our back yard.
This is my families second time to this wonderful cabin and it was as great as we remembered. We decided to return for New Years, as we just couldn't fit any more fun into our days the first time we stayed. I can't say enough about the cabin and the nice folks who own it! The setting is absolutely beautiful and we drank our coffee on the outside deck with the water right below us! Even though it was a little chilly out, we couldn't resist bundling up and spending as much time on the deck as possible. It is just too beautiful! The cabin itself is very charming and spacious. The furniture was perfect for the mountain setting, and the beds and couch were very comfortable. Apparently the owners just bought a HUGE flat screen tv that we were the first to use. But let's face it...we didn't spend much time indoors. Asheville, The Biltmore, The Grove Park Inn, Chimney Rock State Park, Dupont State Park, Hendersonville, and several other parks with beautiful waterfalls were all calling our name, so we did it all! Would highly recommend this home for anyone wanting to stay in this area. We have stayed 5 nights both times we went and couldn't fit everything in that we wanted to do! May have to plan trip number 3 to this beautiful cabin.
We had the pleasure of staying at Cascading Falls Cabin over Labor Day weekend and what a treat! We are already planning our next visit to Chimney Rock so we can stay at this home. The kitchen is unbelievable with all modern appliances and the bedrooms are so cute. The furniture fit the feel of the cabin so well. But I must admit.....we didn't spend much time indoors as the outside decks are fabulous. We enjoyed our glass of wine (or two) while listening to the raging river right below the deck and watching the sun go down behind the mountains. Truly the most spectacular property I've ever had the pleasure of staying at. We could easily walk into town for a bite then walk back to our cabin for our own personal oasis. We spent one of the days in Hendersonville for the apple festival and another day in Asheville. Chimney Rock Park was fun as well. Lots to do in and around the area so definitely needed more time. 5 nights was just not enough! The age range was ages 76 to 2 and everyone had a wonderful time!
We spent a delightful 3 nights & 4 days at the Cascading Falls Cabin in Chimney Rock, NC. This cabin is perfect for nature lovers on the outside and the cabin itself is equipped with modern conveniences. Ten family members, ages 70 to 2, were perfectly happy to be there.
We enjoyed the large kitchen, plenty of bedrooms, & bathrooms. It was convenient to the town and God's playground outside. We had BBQ downtown, within walking distance. We had a birthday party for our 9 year-old granddaughter. We played softball on the grounds. We had s'mores & hot dogs cooked in the fire pit. We made crazy face pancakes. Most of all, we enjoyed being together and climbing on the rocks in the French Broad River.
The owner was very helpful and delightful to work with. The handyman living near-by was also helpful.
My family and I have just returned from our stay at Cascading Falls Cabin in Chimney Rock, North Carolina, where we had a fantastic time visiting with our daughter and new son-in-law who live in Forest City a short way from cabin, they loved it so much they even stayed a couple of nights with us. The house was so spacious that even having a couple of extra people there was still no problem. I would even say that we all coming from London originally would have loved to live there permanently! My sister especially loved the sound of the river from the veranda, and I don't know how many photos were taken of the river from there. We even saw some wildlife, there were deer that wandered out nearly to the road on the otherside from the property, also two Terrapins (or turtles according to our son-in-law) also there was a small creature, that could have been a small beaver down by the river edge, and the birdsong early in the morning was lovely. The grandchildren loved playing down on the rocks in the river. The village of Chimney Rock literally was a short walk, where we had a few nice meals but we also cooked in the lovely kitchen, well equipped only suggestion from me would be a couple of smaller baking tins, as although the cooker looked very big, was a job getting two baking tins side by side, but that was my only complaint. Lots of beautiful places to visit, Lake Lure, Blue Ridge Parkway, Chimney Rock (lovely views) etc, plus a couple of visits to our daughters new home near Forest City. So all in all, we would all recommend this property for a stay in North Carolina.
This house was perfect for our family of 5 looking for a fun, relaxing weekend getaway. It's situated right off the main road, 2 seconds from Lake Lure (where Dirty Dancing was filmed!) and Chimney Rock State Park (where Last of the Mohicans was filmed!). The backyard has a beautiful river with huge rocks--we spent days fishing and climbing the rocks and evenings roasting marshmallows over the fire-pit. There are cute local restaurants, but we really loved taking a 30 minute drive up to the city--Asheville--for a day...so many incredible local restaurants! We drove on the beautiful, scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, too. Since it's the beginning of Autumn, the leaves started to change colors and he mountains looked like they were on fire, so amazing. The house felt like a rustic log cabin--everything was made of wood. We especially loved the big kitchen, the wifi, and the sound of rushing waters as we drifted off to sleep each night.
We've been coming to the area at least once a year for the past dozen years. We have a Fall tradition of inviting extended family to join us and pick apples in Hendersonville. This year our group included twins that were 8 months old as well as 76 year old parents/grandparents who can't navigate stairs. We've passed this home for years and knew the location worked well for everyone.
We arrived to find 2 things that were not quite right. First, I had to unclog a toilet that was left clogged by either previous occupants or cleaning staff. I also had to get a small lizard out of the kitchen sink. Good think I'm not squeamish!
Thank goodness that was all we encountered that weekend. We lucked out with weather and got to enjoy many of the things we normally do in the area. We made it to the Old-Timey Days at Curb Market in Hendersonville, picked apples, hiked around Chimney Rock and walked into town for ice cream. We also used the fire pit for a hot dog roast.
The house worked very well for us as it gave everyone their own space if they wanted it, but plenty of room for us to get together at meal times or evenings. The outdoors was used as much, if not more, than the indoors. Sitting outside and listening to the river is one thing we've always enjoyed when we visit this area. This house gave us the best of both worlds -- comfortable, roomy lodging with all the wonderful outdoor space to enjoy.
Even though we got off to a rocky start, we'd definitely return. My only recommendation would be to invest in new linens. Sheets and towels could definitely use some updating.
Thanks again for a great weekend!
