This quaint 1890 farmhouse, perched in a private cove, offers 5 bedrooms and 3 full baths. Gorgeous lake and mountain views from two of the three terraces. The open-concept living, dining and reading nook, with an oversized fireplace, is ideal for large and intimate gatherings. Furnishings are predominately antique. Premium kitchen appliances for gourmet picnics on the property's private beach with a fire pit, sunset dinner parties on the screened terrace, or morning coffee on the north terrace.

In addition to the private beach and dock, the grounds include a field of wild strawberries, blueberries and wildflowers. The surrounding woods and miles of stonewalls envelop the property on three sides, for total privacy. The house has a country garden and blueberry bushes - pick your breakfast! This enchanting homestead is the perfect retreat for family, couples and small groups.

The lake is perfect for swimming, kayaking, sailing, and low impact motor boats (the north dock of the boat house is yours to use). There is access to a canoe and kayaks. Numerous hiking and walking options throughout the Squam Range are a must -- the trailhead to our favorite quick morning and sunset hike, Eagle Cliff, is just a 10 minute drive.

Two delightful towns, Sandwich and Center Harbor are just a few miles away with unique restaurants, local farm stands, shopping and groceries. The main farmhouse is available for rent. A converted barn and a cottage are also sited on the property.

Do you need more space? The cottage is a charming 3 bedroom, 1 bath bungalow that sleeps 3-6. Gorgeous cove views from the screened porch, an updated kitchen and an open concept living and dining room with a wood stove. We respect your privacy, so the cottage is available to on-site tenants only, for an additional $1,900 a week (from June to September). We request a 2 week minimum for the cottage in July. Our family has been loving Squam Lake for 6 generations. We gather to enjoy holidays, weekends and the changing seasons. We offer this magical spot to families who return year after year to enjoy the lake and mountains.

Why Autumn Acres Family chose Squam Lake

Our property is an old farm perched on a hill at the edge of the lake. The site includes a grand field with native wildflowers, wild strawberries and low bush blueberries. Woods and ferns surround the property.

What makes this farmhouse unique

This is a private and quiet setting with water and mountain access and views and outdoor activities abound.

Squam summers are filled with beach days, water sports, kayaking, boating, hiking and gorgeous sunsets.

June is gorgeous - one of our favorites - a peaceful lake, a peony garden in full bloom, and very few bugs.

New Hampshire is known for it's leaf peeper falls - and Autumn Acres (thus the name) is no exception. The property and surrounding mountains are a blaze with russet reds, salmon pinks and vibrant yellow landscapes. And the water is usually calm enough for kayaking.

Some of our favorite winter memories are winters of sledding down our hill, ice skating, cross-country skiing and snow shoeing. Hot soup and sherry by the fire. And of course there are downhill options an hour or so away.

This is a great house for holidays, vacations, or just getting away from it all. Magic memories await.
