Port Angeles House Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 4 in beds. Additional airbeds for more.

This charming eclectic NW Contemporary home is in the heart of the Olympic Peninsula playland. Sits at the base of the Olympic Mountains with a lovely water view of the Straits of Juan de Fuca. Watch the ships in the harbor, enjoy their lights at night and the lights of Victoria, Canada. This unusual architectural home is full of light with high ceilings and skylights. Professionally decorated with a mix of new and antique furniture for your comfort. New beds and bedding promise you a restful sleep. Huge upstairs master en suite has a French Country feel, plus its own deck to enjoy your morning coffee while you look down on the town of Port Angeles and the busy harbor and watch the sun come up over the Straits of Juan de Fuca and Vancouver Island. Master bath has 7 foot tiled and glass block shower, antique vanity with glass sink, European toilet. Downstairs there is a cozy second bedroom with a single bed and another full bathroom beside it. A loveseat/sleeper sofa in the living room sleeps one. There's even a high chair and an inflatable baby/toddler bed if you have a wee one. A queen inflatable bed is available if needed. Two circular patios, one in the front courtyard and a 'funky' brick one in the back yard (with a firepit), plus a large deck with barbeque and lots of benches and outdoor furniture give you several options for outdoor living. Enjoy picking your own salad fixings, peas, asparagus, garlic, strawberries and raspberries from the garden when in season. Watch videos and CD's while reclining in comfort in the new plush recliner sofa or cuddle up in the cozy loveseat. WiFi and cable TV included during summer months. Brand new stainless kitchen appliances and tiled counter make your meals easy to fix and clean up. Bring your bikes and enjoy the Discovery Bike Trail which runs from Port Angeles to Port Townsend. The entrance to Olympic National Park and Hurricane Ridge is just across the road. Enjoy skiing and snowboarding or snowshoeing in winter, hiking and picnicking in summer. The deer and marmots are fun to watch as you walk the trails on the top of Hurricane Ridge. There is kayaking, fishing, clamming and many hiking trails for the adventurous. Or shop the area's more than 20 antique and consignment stores, many art galleries and enjoy tasting at the local wineries. The music scene is incredible with multiple venues to choose from nightly and with music from all genres you are guaranteed to find something to your taste, you can even find someplace to dance nearly every night of the week. The Olympic Peninsula has many festivals throughout the year to enjoy, plus a symphony, community choruses, plays, a light opera and other cultural experiences through the local library and community college. Port Angeles has the annual Juan de Fuca Music and Arts Festival, Crab Festival, Art in Bloom on Mother's Day at the Fine Arts Center, a wonderful Marine Center for the kids and the kid in all of us, plus outdoor concerts every Wednesday night on the Pier during the summer. There is the Sequim Irrigation Festival in May and the Lavender Festival in summer. Port Townsend has their Rhody Festival and others too, plus lots of art galleries. All 3 cities have Saturday Farmer's Markets. Forks has lots of local happenings, including the ongoing 'Twighlight' tours. Drive to Neah Bay, beachcomb along the way, and visit the exceptional Indian museum and then take your choice of short hikes to the Pacific Ocean beaches. There are so many things to do in this lovely corner of the world you can be as active or as laid back as you like. You can even take the ferry to Victoria, a city unlike any in the USA. You definitely feel like you are in Europe as you stroll the streets of this magical city. A bus will take you out and back to the world famous Butchart Gardens and Butterfly House. After a full day in Victoria you will be happy to return to your cozy and welcoming home away from home, your retreat between the mountains and the sea.

About Patricia Wheatley

I am a native Washingtonian and have lived in P.A. for 40 years. I raised 3 children and owned several businesses and am now retired. This is the 4th house I have owned, decorated and landscaped and am now working on my 5th. I am an avid gardener and artist and some of the artwork and photography in the home is my original work.

Patricia Wheatley purchased this house in 2007

Why Patricia Wheatley chose Port Angeles

I have loved and improved this home for 7 years but have met a wonderful man who has asked me to marry him. We have bought a home together and are busy decorating and landscaping it. I am incorrigible when it comes to both!

What makes this house unique

This home attracted me because of its uniqueness, ceilings of varying heights, some as tall as 24 feet! The layout is also unusual and since I shy away from the 'usual' I just had to have it. It has a wonderful view of the Straits of Juan de Fuca and Vancouver Island. It is close to downtown activities and also within a few minutes of the top of Hurricane Ridge. The yard is small and I have created several very private sitting areas and a small garden I have filled with vegetables and berries. Guests are welcome to pick what they like within season.

Home Away From Home

  • 4 of 5

We loved this property. It was very spacious and the furniture was very comfortable. The master bedroom was HUGE! The views from the bedroom were great. We wanted to take the shower home with us. The views from the living room were nice but the two outbuildings in the back blocked some of the view in the living area. The gardens were lovely. We went to Hurricane Ridge, Heart of the Hills trail, The Dungeness Spit, Salt Creek/Tongue Point and the local movie theater. I bought beautiful jewelry at the Alley Kat boutique and the grocery stores were conveniently located. I would highly recommend this property to friends and family. I think if you had little kids you would love all the extras provided by the owners including a cool game table with a great selection of games and movies. We really had a nice relaxing three day stay. The only reason I did not give this property a five is because I am rather particular about a full view when I am sitting in the living room. You did have a nice view from the dining room table though and from the left section of the deck. Off season they do not have cable and that did not bother me but my husband missed watching the news.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the nice review. I am sorry you were unhappy with the view from the sofa. When the sheds were built the builder did not follow my instructions and made them higher than I liked. That is one of the reasons I keep my prices so low. But the view is spectacular from every other vantage point and I'm so happy you enjoyed it.

Perfect Location for Exploring PNW

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a week in this cute little house in Port Angeles. It was very roomy and clean and was full of beautiful european-like updates. The view out the back windows looked upon the Port Angeles Harbor and took advantage of colorful sunsets. Since my husband is an photographer we spent the week exploring the Ho Rain Forest, Cape Flattery and Neah Bay, Sequim, and nearby parks. The sun was bright and shiny everyday of our trip (unusual for Winter in the PNW) but crispy cold. We got some beautiful photos from this trip. Please feel totally confident that you will find everything you need in staying at Patricia's cute home.

Just lovely

  • 5 of 5

Beautifully appointed, very clean, and what a beautiful garden! The owner greeted us on arrival and explained everything we'd need to know. The house accommodated our group of 3 wonderfully well. We cooked most meals in and found everything we needed. The location was really convenient to Olympic National Park and to Port Angeles...just minutes from everything. The garden is just lovely, a fine place to sit and relax and soak in the beautiful scenery...Strait of Juan de Fuca on one side and mountains on the other. The nice quiet neighborhood was just our speed, a nice place to take a walk after dinner. I also enjoyed watching the lights on Vancouver Island at night. Magical.
