BUILDING AMENITIES: short walk to lifts, lobby with television and fireplace, two outdoor hot tubs, community grills, heated parking garage, bike path, coin-operated laundry, free wireless internet, ski lockers, location: Mountain House.
ENHANCED GUEST SERVICE: Rest assured that this home away from home is professionally managed. We provide cleaning services, regular maintenance, lock-out service and 24/7 emergency call service.
FEES & TAXES: Taxes and fees are not included in the posted nightly rate. Unlike many of our competitors that build their fees into the nightly rate, we will send you a quote with the breakdown of all costs.
GUARANTEED BEST PRICE: If you find a better deal on a comparable property, then provide us with clear evidence and we will beat the deal by 10%.
DISCOUNTS YOU WILL USE: As a guest of Summit County Mountain Retreats, you can take advantage of discounts on an array of services including ski rentals, ground transportation, bike rentals, horseback riding and much more. Let us know during the booking process, and we'll make sure you have what you need.
WATCH OUT FOR GIMMICKS: Don’t be fooled when someone offers discounted lift tickets. Discounts on lift tickets are all the same as long as you do not buy at the ticket window. Buy your discounted lift tickets from the kiosk at the grocery store or online. Kids Ski Free is another gimmick designed to make guests believe they’re getting a deal when in reality they’re paying higher nightly rates and an “amenities fee.” When you do the math on total cost of stay it turns out it’s not a deal at all.
We rented at Tenderfoot for the weekend (Friday and Saturday night) and we were very pleased with the accommodations. The covered parking was fantastic and it was close enough to several restaurants to walk in the evening. The beds were comfortable, rooms were spacious, and everything was tidy. I would stay again!
The unit is very nice- there is minimal space in the kitchen cabinets to keep grocery items, but the kitchen is well equipped. Unit is clean and great view of slope.
The walk to the Mountain House base is reasonable for adults and bigger kids. It is hard with small children. We tried to utilize the wagon program, but often it was more trouble to find one and then return it after use then it was worth. Shuttle system is not at all convenient at Tenderfoot. Closest stop is either at Mountain House base or along the side of highway 6. Either way its a good trek to get to the bus stop.
The beginner area at the Mountain House base is wonderful. We were unimpressed by the ski school. Checked on our daughter a couple of times during her lesson- each time she fell she had to get herself up and put on her own skis. Instructors either didn't notice her struggle or didn't feel it was their job to help. I know they are to teach the kids to ski on their own, but for a 5 year old on her first day out, it seemed a little harsh. We withdrew her in tears from her lesson at 11:15. She had far more success learning from me.
Next time, we will stay at River Run Base. Mountain House has the better beginner area, but that is where its advantages end. The restaurants, shops, gondola, ice skating, tubing, snow fort, fireworks, kidtopia events, etc. are all at River Run.
