Our beautifully furnished and appointed New England contemporary-style home has ample space for your family group or for a couple wanting to host their own guests during their visit. Wi-fi is available throughout the home.
The main floor has two ensuite bedrooms on opposite ends of the house, one with a king bed and one with a queen. In between are the side entry with mudroom, large kitchen with informal dining area seating up to 8, family room with tv and piano, formal dining room with seating for up to 12, screened porch, expansive living room with cathedral ceilings, den with wet bar, half bath and laundry room.
The second floor has four bedrooms, each with queen-sized beds and two full bathrooms.
The walk-out lower level features an ensuite bedroom with queen bed, an additional sleeping area with two twin beds and three-quarter bath, and a large living room will full kitchenette.
There is ample parking, including a covered carport and grand main entrance. A small deck off the side entrance holds the barbecue grill just off the kitchen. The screened porch leads out to a small deck and the patio below has outdoor seating. Tiered lawns, many trees and natural landscaping surround the house. Kids and adults can enjoy the basketball hoop or take a leisurely walk up or down the hill as there is minimal vehicular traffic.
After living nearby in a home we built in 1973, we constructed this home in 1988 when our children were 14, 12, 9 and 7. We spend the summers on an island on Lake Winnipesaukee so we like to make it available to others while we are not there to enjoy it. We have made many memories in this home and will continue to do so. We hope you will, too!
We came here when we first were married 45 years ago and love living at the gateway to New Hampshire's White Mountains where we are so close to all that the four seasons in the mountains and lakes have to offer. We have been in the real estate development business in this area for almost 45 years and our family business, Owl's Nest Resort & Golf Club is close by.
When we first built in this neighborhood, many of our close friends and business associates built here as well. Many of them have moved on to other locations but we still enjoy the neighbors we have as well as the quiet, security and privacy this location provides. Our oldest daughter and her family live just around the corner and are available to assist or answer questions quickly.
We are situated in the Pemigewasset River Valley close to Exit 28 off Interstate 93 between the White Mountains and Lakes Regions of New Hampshire. You can head north, west and east to all the White Mountain National Forest has to offer or south to Squam (15 minutes), Newfound (25 minutes) or the 'Big Lake' - Winnipesaukee (35 minutes to an hour), all within an easy drive.
Nearby activities include: hiking, biking, fishing, boating, tubing, kayaking, golfing, exploring, cultural arts, theater, family theme and water parks, art and music festivals, sightseeing, birdwatching, wildlife-spotting, zip-lining, tax-free shopping, fairs, craft shows and much, much more!
We are ten minutes from Plymouth, home to Plymouth State University with a year-round indoor ice rink, grocery stores, hospital and other conveniences. A small local store just a five minute drive away - the Campton Cupboard - has all the necessities and more. There are plenty of places to dine locally for breakfast, lunch and dinner from family-friendly to more upscale options. We provide menus and directions. Some of these restaurants include The Sunset Room at Owl's Nest Resort & Golf Club (our family business), The Mad River Tavern and Bear's Den Ice Cream, Woodpecker's Tavern, The Sunset Grill, The Mad River Coffee Shop and The Sugar Shack. Venture to Plymouth (10 minutes) or Lincoln (20 minutes) for more dining options.
There are so many day trips to take from our area to all corners of the state. You can travel the scenic Kancamagus Highway to North Conway for some excellent outlet shopping and take in Mount Washington via the Cog Railway, stopping at the historic Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods before traveling back south through Franconia Notch with a quick stop to ride the Tram to the top of Cannon Mountain before heading back to Campton.
If fun for the kids is on your itinerary, head north to Whale's Tale waterpark for the day or take your pick from Clark's Trading Post, Storyland, Six Gun City and Santa's Village to spend the day.
If it is a hot, lazy day, book a kayak or canoe trip through Ski Fanatics in Campton and float the Pemi River. They will drop you off and pick you up! If you have not had enough of the river, hit some of the local swimming holes, such as the Eddy, located on the road to Waterville Valley, just a few minutes from Campton.
A great all-ages experience is viewing native animals in natural habitats at the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center in Holderness. You will view and learn about bobcats, mountain lions, bears, raptors and more as you walk the winding paths. Wander up the street to the Squam Lakes Inn for lunch or over to the Squam Lakes General Store for ice cream and then take a guided tour of Squam on the Science Center's pontoon boat.
The local Chamber of Commerce, just off the exit, can provide more information about local, regional and state-wide attractions. They also sell hunting and fishing licenses and stickers for parking at the National Forest day-use areas.
We can arrange for golf and use of the outdoor pool and exercise facilities at our 18-hole championship Owl's Nest Resort & Golf Club during your stay. We can also arrange for reduce golf rates.
