This is my second review after my second stay at this amazing house. This trip was a bit longer (at about 1 1/2 months) and beyond being even more beautiful than the pictures suggest, the house is just such a comfortable place to feel like you are actually living in The Hamptons. EVERYTHING you will need is waiting for you in the beautiful kitchen. The living spaces (inside and out) are generous and beautifully appointed. The bedrooms are extremely comfortable with great pillows and sheets. And the baths are lovely with a great whirlpool in the master that overlooks the grounds and gets the most gorgeous light at the end of the day.
And the location of the house is just perfect: Minutes from Southampton Village, a short and beautiful ride through the woods to Sag Harbour, 20 minutes to Riverhead and then back East and on to the North Fork and wine country, and literally a 4 minute drive to The Jitney which can take you to Manhattan in 2 hours!
And finally, if your sister or best friend were loaning you their house, they would likely not be as kind and caring and helpful and generous with their time and suggestions as the wonderful owners of this property who genuinely make everyone feel like family. I LOVE dog people! And just to be clear, if you do not have a dog or two to bring along, the house is absolutelyspotless and you would never know that so many 4-legged guests have visited and had the time of their lives!
First, the photos of this property are not accurate..... As beautiful as it looks, the house is even more perfect in person. It is a great house with a beautiful, fully-fenced yard and is in a fabulous location just minutes from the village of Southampton and exactly 4 minutes drive from the jitney!
The house itself is in wonderful condition and everything you could want or need is there for your convenience. It is as if you borrowed a friend's perfectly outfitted home in one of the greatest vacation spots on the planet. The appliances, the furnishings, the bedding are all first quality and everything is sparkling clean.
The checking in/out could not have been more simple or convenient. Arranging everything by email and phone was a breeze with absolutely zero issues along the way. The owner is a warm and great host and even went out of her way to pass along specific recommendations for some events in the area during our stay!
Because of the great yard and the proximity to fantastic beaches, our dogs had the best days of their lives at Valmya and we are currently trying to figure out how we can get back for another visit.
One final recommendation - reserve a few days more than you think you want because you will be SO sad when you have to leave!
My 7 girlfriends and I spend a week together every year at a different destination (Kennebunkport; Outer Banks; Martha's Vineyard..). When searching for a rental property, we look for certain amenities in our home-away-from-home. The Valmya checked off all of our boxes and more! The house and the surrounding woods were relaxing and serene. The pictures do not do the home justice. Beautifully appointed, the home was more like a private home than a vacation rental. Thank you, Pat, for opening your beautiful home to us! We never return to the same destination twice, but we all agree that if we decide to return to the Hamptons, we would definitely return to the Valmya!!
My family and I stayed at Valmya to celebrate my mother's birthday over a beautiful weekend in June and it could not have been better! Firstly, I've never seen our dog happier! There was so much room for him to run around! The photos of the house, especially the back yard don't do it justice! The home and grounds are immaculate. A rare find in a rental, this property is well decorated (the opposite of bare-bones ikea!), in perfect condition AND welcoming/comfortable :) ! We cooked most of our meals at the house with all of the Viking appliances (and the grill outside!) and enjoyed relaxing meals at the beautiful kitchen farm table as well as breakfast by the pool. Just a short drive away from a great market and Southampton (and beautiful Cooper's Beach where we parked for free in town and walked to), yet in a gorgeous peaceful woodsy location--you can't see any other houses! The back yard was incredible. Sun-filled and flower-filled you can't ask for anything more! The Owner made everything very easy and we felt like it was our home for our stay! Truly a pleasure. Lots of happy memories! Sad to leave, but hope to be back again! Thank you!!!!!
Gale force winds couldn't keep us for enjoying the warmth of Valyma. Thank you, Pat, for giving us the opportunity to enjoy your beautiful home and grounds and letting me decorate it a little for Christmas. What a great living room for gathering around the fire and enjoying the family. Loved the table in the kitchen but just had to use the dining room for the family Christmas dinner. After a busy day, bedtime was most enjoyable in the very comfortable beds!! We had so hoped for snow and did get a dusting with some of the biggest flakes of snow that any of us have ever seen....it just didn't last, but was fun while it lasted. Seeing the pool covered outside and walking around the grounds made us long to see its beauty in the spring/summer. Feel in love with Citarella's -- so yummy. Everyone was so pleasant and accomodating. The time just went by way too quickly. Thanks again.
My husband, two dogs and I had a perfect October week at this beautiful home. It is even more spectacular than the pictures suggest and was wonderfully safe for our active dogs (fenced-in yard all around). House interior decorated to the nines making us wonder how this house could be a rental. The yard has a beautiful pool/lawn and is surrounded by nice wooded trails which our dogs loved to explore. We will be repeat customers. Thank you Pat and family for making your home available to us.
