Uzes House Rental Photos and Description
2Bed- 2Bath-A/Con- Gourmet kitchen- 2 dining areas- Computer - quiet & central
Le Rêve (The Dream) is a lovely old 17th century stone town house which is located in a quiet cul de sac in the historic heritage quarter of Uzès and is ideal for accommodating up 4 persons. An extra person can be accommodated on a fold out bed.
The house underwent a complete renaissance over an 18 month period in 2011-12, when the limestone was restored to its original honey tones and sympathetically renovated the interior, creating a warm inviting space full of traditional Provençal charm and character. Forged ironwork, stone features, tiled floors, exposed beams and traditional shutters combined with high quality furnishings and fittings create a lovely warm ambient environment.
You will enjoy the custom-built kitchen with induction cooktop and full sized oven and fridge, dishwasher, microwave etc. with everything you need to make the most of cooking with local produce or to simply enjoy eating readymade gourmet purchases from the market. You have two choices as to where to eat - either the kitchen table with bar stools or upstairs in the lounge dining room area.
A small table and 2 chairs in front of the house are perfect for having an afternoon aperitif in the sun.
There are 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms plus 2 separate toilets, one on the ground level which is great for those who do not want to do too much stair climbing. Both bedrooms are beautifully furnished and have comfortable, French queen size beds (160cm), high quality linens, storage room for your clothes, a flat screen TV and DVD player and DVD library.
One bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and the other bedroom has a separate bathroom and both with heated towel rails and underfloor heating.
There are 2 separate toilets adjacent to each bathroom. The bedroom on the top floor has a split air conditioner for keeping cool in summer as well as central heating in winter.
The well lit, elegantly appointed living room is on the first level and has a comfortable seating area for relaxing or reading. French doors open onto the quiet street.
Split air conditioning keeps you cool in summer and central heating and double glazed windows and very thick walls keep the house warm in winter. A large screen TV can act as a computer and music/film library with unlimited wireless internet, as well as many French and British cable satellite television channels.
There are mini-speakers for your i-Pod/I-Phone to connect to and a library of books to choose from.
There is a laundry room with a washing machines and dryer on the ground level.

About Jennifer Godson (Jenny)
Although I am Australian and live in Melbourne, I have been a frequent traveller to Europe since my first trip as a young backpacker. France has always been a favourite destination and I regard myself as a Francophile. I enjoy the challenge of learning the language and look forward to spending increased amounts of time in France in years to come. Meanwhile we like to share our 'Dream' /Le Rêve with others who come to experience the charm of Uzès.
Jennifer Godson (Jenny) purchased this house in 2009
Why Jennifer Godson (Jenny) chose Uzes
Why indeed? Location, location, location really as it is both close to the heart of historic centre of Uzès and yet because it is just off a pedestrianised street it is also devoid of traffic noise. We spent a lot of time, money and effort restoring the house to its best and discovering a well in the process which is meant to be lucky. Not completely sure about that but we do feel lucky that we discovered Uzès and have a little piece of France as a second home.
What makes this house unique
We love old houses and discovered the original stair entrance and realised that we could reconfigure the house as originally intended. The limestone walls are extremely thick and there are many of the original wooden beams along with a large cellar. It's layout is a little quirky as it is built on 2 small parcels of land at different times hence the floor levels are different in parts, but it works as you can see in the video below at the end of the listing.
Guestbook comments from the owner
Thank you for making our stay in Uzès a truly memorable one! Le Rêve is a beautiful apartment with everything we needed and in proximity to the most wonderful sights, cafès, restaurants etc. We hope to return in the not too distant future.
