Your vacation starts the minute you enter the foyer at Villa Sago. Set your keys down on the beautiful custom made copper and hand-painted wood table and come in to your private desert retreat. If you are looking for a larger-than-average pool, a comfortable home, and access to 45 public golf courses, you have found your dream!
You will discover a master bedroom with King pillow-top mattress, a walk-in closet, TV, original art, excellent reading lamps, and new luxury linens. Adjacent to the master is a large bright bathroom with outdoor access to a charming east-facing courtyard – the perfect sunny spot for your morning coffee. The master bath has dual sinks, plush towels, and a sunken Roman jetted tub and shower. It’s so cool to enjoy your shower with the sun pouring in while overlooking your private courtyard.
The second bedroom has a new Queen bed dressed with a fun animal print and new linens. One gorgeous designer lamp and one funky (you be the judge) lamp provide good reading light. Large mirrored closets offer ample storage. En suite in this bedroom is an adorable half bath. A third full bath is across the hall and is well positioned to both the second and third bedrooms. All three bathrooms have windows, and feature complimentary luxury soaps, lotions, and hair care products.
The third bedroom features a new Queen sleeper sofa, and sliding glass door to the pool and lanai. This room is quite large and triples as a media room and office. In addition to the sofa – which also has a nifty chaise on one end – you will find a fabulous Mitchell Gold recliner, another comfy chair, a 55' high-definition TV, and a great working desk with printer and fax, if you absolutely must work. There is also complimentary and secure wi-fi throughout the house. For your entertainment, please feel welcome to use the reading library and DVD and music collections. The fabulous Art Deco floor lamp and original art in this room came from one of the desert’s best consignment shops, and if you are nice to us, we will tell you where it is.
Your husband wants to watch golf and you want to watch a DVD? No problem. There is also a brand new 46' high definition TV in the living room. This room also features comfy plush furniture, especially the zebra overstuffed chair and ottoman. Set your drink on the McGuire woven leather end table and put your feet up.
Of course, your drink comes from the retro bar cart, well stocked with beautiful glassware – including some of our martini glass collection and signature Oregon wine country wine glasses collected from years of touring our beautiful wineries – crystal decanters, and martini shaker. It’s cocktail time!
Once you’ve eased into cocktails, it’s time to think about dinner. Should you stay in and cook on your new gas BBQ (gas line connected – no messy propane to deal with), or in your well-stocked kitchen, or should you stroll down to El Paseo and let someone else cook you a fabulous dinner? Check our guest book for our favorite restaurants…we’ve uncovered a few gems that aren’t necessarily listed in all the guidebooks.
After dinner you will want to enjoy a swim in the big pool or a soak in the spa. Clothing optional – it’s private! Enjoy high-end pool chairs with built-in drink holders, fun noodles, and pool games. The lot is huge and features a big covered lanai with an Agio furniture grouping, outdoor sink and BBQ prep counter, bubbling fountain, and desert landscaping punctuated with original art. And to top it all off, your outdoor living area also includes yet another new flat screen 42' TV.
Villa Sago also has boring things like a washer and dryer, 2-car garage with remote, parking for your RV or boat, and complimentary long-distance phone calls within the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. And not so boring things like a quiet neighborhood with virtually no traffic, mountain views, and citrus (lemon, orange, grapefruit.) Pool and landscape maintenance is included in the price. You will find Villa Sago fully stocked from olive oil and coffee, to TP and paper towels.
South Palm Desert has a small town feel with all the amenities of a large metropolitan area. Villa Sago is nestled close to some of the most exclusive homes and country clubs in the Coachella Valley, but without that price tag. South Palm Desert – it’s THE place to be!

Kay and Steve live in Portland, OR, and know exactly what snowbirds need and want in a desert retreat: we are our target customer. We’re picky, too, and know that Villa Sago will appeal to the discriminating guest. Kay is a frustrated hotelier and has channeled her energy into making Villa Sago perfect for our guests, down to the last detail.
We are both busy professionals who travel frequently, and we have experienced every type of accommodation out there, from 5-star European hotels to modest Chinese rooms. Our photo was taken at Silcox Hut, 7,000 feet up on Mt. Hood in Oregon. Kay is a museum docent and likes to garden and write in her spare time. Steve plays ice hockey and runs a 10K whenever he can. Both love golf, college football, and getting on an airplane and going somewhere.

Have you ever lived through an Oregon winter?!? We don’t tan, we rust. There are more slugs than people. We are ALL vitamin D deficient. You try growing a Sago Palm in Oregon. Enough said.
We enjoy the close proximity to El Paseo, along with a beautiful neighborhood for our morning walk. The privacy of Villa Sago offers us a serene getaway from our busy everyday lives in Portland. And, if there's a nicer pool and private lot anywhere in south Palm Desert, we haven't seen it.
My wife, Australian Shepherd, and I spent the month of April at Villa Sago. We found the home inviting, comfortable, fully equipped and we had a great and relaxing time. It is centrally located in the California desert giving easy access to everything in the area. We had several visitors while there and the home comfortably accommodated them. The fenced/walled yard was perfect for our dog. The only thing additional I might have wanted would have been a second bicycle but that's nit picking. The vacation was exactly what we wanted and we'll likely return.
We loved our experience. Being in a different part of Palm Desert has its benefits. The neighborhood, the hyacinth macaw, the college student selling organic veggies, the beautiful homes, and walking down town to stores are just a bit of our wonderful stay in Villa Sago. I did not even mention the Meyer lemons and the pool a lovely home and a great comfortable ambiance.
Very comfortable accommodation in a pleasant neighborhood. The location is great for strolling, dog walking and cycling. Back yard patio, pool and spa were wonderful.
Being our first winter away, we were a bit apprehensive, but Villa Sago quickly erased any doubts we may have had. The listing accurately described the home, and Kay was a joy to deal with.
Upon arriving we found a binder filled with information and instructions on everything in the house, and who to contact should you encounter any problems. The house was clean and cozy, and so nice to have spices, coffee, paper towels, etc. supplied so a trip to the store was not immediately required. We used the heated pool daily, and the hot tub was great as well. So nice to have a media room TV as well as one in the living room, master bedroom and even the lanai!
Such a quiet neighborhood but yet close to shopping and many fabulous restaurants. (Be sure to visit Sherman's next to Bristol Farms!) Perfect for biking and walking. It was an easy bike to the supermarket and El Paseo.
The back yard is very private and well maintained, perfect for grilling out on the gas grill. The beds inside as well as the outdoor furniture is very comfortable, and the neighbors we met were very friendly.
We would return to this wonderful vacation home in a heartbeat!
We arrived Thanksgiving week and could not have picked a more comfortable, beautiful and well equiped house. Upon arriving, after unpacking we read the manual that explains everything you could possible want to know about the house, restaurants, golf courses and points of interest. There is a television outside on the patio so my husband could watch the football game while relaxing on wonderful comfortable furniture. The house was as beautiful as it appears in the pictures. Very, very clean and well maintained.
The furniture in all rooms is very comfortable and the beds are wonderful. Bathrooms equipped with all the niceities.
The neighborhood is very quiet and when we did meet neighbors while walking our dog they were very friendly. Also, on the refrigerator were magnets with name of the local vet and dog food store. This was very impressive to me.
El Paseo is close by as is Ralphs and Bristol Farms is a short ride away. Very convenient to everything.
We stay in Palm Desert several times a year but our previous rental home came off the market. We were very glad to find Villa Sago as we had a great experience and we will be staying again. Dealing with Kay was very pleasant, she is very informative and helpful and didn't tire of my many questions. The thing that stands out is how well organized and well stocked the home is. Of the dozens of houses and condos we have rented on VRBO over the years I have never came across a place that seems to have every utensil you need, including some condiments, paper towels, etc. Instead of several runs a day to the store to get some little thing, we could enjoy ourselves because it was taken care of. The house was great for our family, including my late 60's in-laws, our one year old daughter, and two lazy pugs.
Our days were very relaxed and we spent a lot of time out on the lanai, taking dips in the pool or hot tub. The neighborhood is very quiet, I don't think I heard a neighbor the whole time we were there. It is a 20 minute walk to the start of El Paseo, or a quick drive, which was much closer than our last home so we took advantage of the better location. The whole home is nicely updated with the exception of the guest bath, but knowing the owner I'm sure it won't be long before it is updated also. Everything in the house worked, including fast WiFi and a good selection of Cable TV. I chuckled when I saw the TV on the lanai, but don't think I didn't spend a good portion of my day on Saturday watching college football while relaxing in the pool, spa, and lounge chair!
