Property sits right on the sand of beautiful, Private, sandy Old Colony Beach. Fantastic views of the ocean right from the dinner table. Step out the door and right into the sand. Property offers a fenced in front yard with picnic tables. Very nice accommodations, especially for those with a family, as the convenience cannot be beat. Walk a few short feet back to the cottage for lunch or bathroom access. A five minute walk over to Hartford Ave. yields beach restaurants, beach bars, carousel, arcades, and beach shops with everything you need for fun in the sun. Two world renowned casinos, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, are just a 25 minute drive. Outlet shopping is just down the highway at Westbrook and Clinton Crossing. For those looking for antiques or a more quaint shopping experience, they can take a short trip to Mystic, Stonington or Essex. The Mystic Sea Aquarium is less than half an hours drive, as is the Submarine Museum with the USS Nautilus.

There are many other oppotunites and options for things to do, such as deep sea fishing on the Mijoy fishing boat, world renown Mystic Aquarium, the submarine museum with the USS Nautilus in Groton, and the local wineries at Chamard, Johnathan Edwards, and Stonington Vineyards. There are two world famous casinos , Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, just 25 minutes away. Ferries to Block Island and Martha's Vineyard are a 30 minute drive.

Notes: Kids movies are available on the beach on Saturday nights. Please remember to bring your own linens. The cottage is a great spot to bring the family. They are also a wonderful point to launch day trips to several area attractions such as the Submarine museum with the USS Nautilus, casinos, wineries, shopping or boating. Blackhall marina, 2 miles away, offers boat and kayak rentals.

Perfect place for the family

This is my family's favorite place!! We love stepping out the door right onto the sand. My young kids love the freedom to roam the beach. It's convenient, low key, very clean, safe! We spend the day on the beach tanning, crabbing, swimming, listening to music, climbing on the rocks, then walk to Hartford Ave. for a carousel ride to catch the gold ring, endulge in a lemon ice or ice cream cone, play an arcade game, or poke around in the beach shops. In the evening, we fly our kite, cook out with friends, play sand baseball, go fishing, take long walks, or enjoy movies on the beach. I love that my family can take a break from technology and just enjoy nature. After staying here for several years, we have made many new friends. We now stay the same weeks each summer so we can be here at the same time as other returning tenants. Pleasant place to stay!

The best beach experience

Now that we stayed in this cottage on the beach, we always want to stay on the beach. It's so convenient to be 'right there' and not having to haul heavy beach items up and down a hot street was so helpful. The cottage inside is similar to others we have stayed in but we spent so little time inside. We were upstairs and the view was amazing. Our three kids loved the freedom to walk around due to Old Colony being a safe, security guarded beach. We will be back next year.
