About owner/property manager
My husband, Jim, grew up In Keosauqua and after he retired he wanted to move back to Iowa. We moved here from Illinois and my husband was a Auto Mechanic Instructor at a Community College. I am a quilter and had a Longarm Quilting business (I did customize quilting for other quilters). I still do quilting and we both are involved in our community.
owner/property manager purchased this house in 2011
Why owner/property manager chose Keosauqua
We actually bought 'The Church' from my husband's cousin and her husband. This was his first church and when the church closed they purchased it and made it into a home. They were wanting to move to Des Moines to be closer to their children and we wanted to downsize and move to Iowa. It was a good decision.
What makes this house unique
Bentonsport is a very unique small village and it feels like home. If you are tired of the city life and just want to get away where it is quiet and peaceful, then this is the place to be. Some of the highlights of our little village is our downtown. There is Jennie's Sweet Creations where you can sit on her deck and enjoy the peaceful Des Moines River floating by while you are enjoying one of her delicious sub sandwiches or her mouth watering homemade fudge. We feature the Iron and Lace Shop owned by Bill and Betty Printy. Bill is a working Blacksmith and creates some beautiful custom pieces. Betty is the potter and creates some very unique and beautiful pottery. We have the Greef Store that features antiques and homemade craft items. The Artisan is a shop that features unique gifts from our local artisans.
'The Church' features a deck with a fire pit and you can enjoy the summer evenings listening to the crickets chirp. During the day you may be able to enjoy one of our many Amish families going by in their buggies. There are many other things to see in VanBuren County. One of our claims is, there are no traffic lights in the county. So, we invite you to come and visit and be a part of our community.
