Overview

Fraser House Rental Photos and Description

House, 5 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 12)

Located just 4 miles from Winter Park on 3/4 acre, with breathtaking views of 13,000 ft Byers peak. Walk 30 steps beyond the driveway to catch the free shuttle to the town of Winter Park as well as the ski area.

This Custom home was built using a centuries-old construction technique called 'timberframing.' Timberframe construction is typified by its use of large, exposed beams and logs connected by handcrafted, mortise and tenon joinery. It has a rustic feel, yet, has all the modern amenities. It has a second family room in the basement that includes a big-screen tv with video games, DVD, stereo, etc, which is perfect for the kids while the adults enjoy the main floor great room, which includes 20 ft vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, and a fully equipped media, audio center. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare that feast for your family and friends.

The surrounding area is a true Colorado gem, with over 600 miles of the best mountain biking and hiking trails. Walk to the fly fishing haven of the Fraser river or fish the headwaters of the Colorado River, just 25 miles away. Enjoy some of the country's most spectacular and challenging mountain golf courses. The winter is host to award-winning skiing and snow boarding at Mary Jane and Winter Park Resorts. The two areas spread across 5 mountains and 3,078 acres with 3,060 ft of vertical and an impressive 30 ft of snow per year. You can find terrain for everyone from the beginner to the most experienced adrenaline junky. Explore thousands of miles of snowmobile trails or make your own tracks in wide-open powder fields. You may choose from more exotic winter activities such as dog sledding and horse-drawn sleigh rides, to a tranquil, relaxing spa visit at Devil's Thumb Resort. Get excercise by snowshoeing or cross-country skiing.

Our house is available for rent throughout the year. Call for availability and rates.

Why Mark Johnson chose Fraser

We chose to build in the Winter Park area because we enjoyed visiting so much as children. We believe it is the last of the true 'Colorado Mountain Resort Towns'. It has just enough amenities to accommodate most interests, while maintaining a mountain town feel. As soon as we reach the top of Berthoud Pass and view the great continental divide and the Fraser Valley below, our stress is lifted. Smell the fresh mountain air, scented with pine trees and you will understand why we enjoy the area so much. We hope you will as well.

What makes this house unique

Our house has the ideal layout for our family and friends. It has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with 2 complete family rooms. This allows us to enjoy the company of larger groups without feeling cramped. We love knowing that our kids are having fun in the basement family room playing, watching movies or playing video games, while the adults enjoy time together on the main floor. Mornings are a treat as the sun illuminates the 13,000 ft., snow-capped, Byers Peak framed by our large windows in the back of the house. The vaulted great room is accented by large wood beams and logs, giving you the feel of a true mountain getaway.

An Escape from the Real World

  • 5 of 5

Mark's cabin exceeded our expectations! The pictures don’t do it justice! My family takes an annual ski trip. Typically we choose a cramped ski-in and ski-out condo. This year we went out on a limb and chose to stay farther from the ski lifts in order to have more living space for our long weekend. BOY WAS IT WORTH IT! All 14 of us slept in an actual bed. The kitchen counter space and fridge were big enough to accommodate our coolers and groceries. The kitchen table is enormous and perfect for playing cards. The family room recliners were perfect for reading magazines. The vaulted ceilings made all of us feel tiny and cozy. The views are majestic from every angle of the house.

Mark’s cabin is the perfect spot for everyone in the family. Driving and parking to Winter Park Resort took all of 5 minutes and there were plenty of parking spaces all weekend long. We went tubing in Fraser and it was crazy-fun! We could see the tubers out in the distance from Mark’s back porch. It took less than 2 minutes to drive over there. The little kids in our family skied Grandby Ranch. Tickets were inexpensive and the resort is lovely. My mom and I even drove to Grand Lake one day, ate lunch, and walked the shops.

We have decided to make Mark’s cabin our annual vacation stop. It’s our home away from home! Can’t wait until next year.

Great home for a group

  • 4 of 5

The location is very good. The public space-kitchen, etc. were also plenty big for a party of 10 adults. Very close to a grocery store. Convenient to the ski bus. Everything was clean. The only complaint is that the upstairs beds are old and need replacing.

Owner's Response: Thank you for information on the upstairs beds. We were able to visit the house this past weekend and inspect the beds. We will be replacing them just as soon as the furniture store can deliver them, which they say is about 10 days (not bad for mountain property delivery).

Great house For Large Groups!

  • 5 of 5

10 guys stayed at the house for a five day ski vacation. Plenty of room for all of us. The house is set up well for relaxing around the family areas on the main floor and basement. Two of the guys slept on couches and the others had beds. There were plenty of pillows and blankets. The dining area accommodates at least a dozen people. The kitchen cooking area is a little tight when too many "cooks" are trying to help but we made it work. We were not lacking for cooking or eating utensils. It is well stocked. I would rent the home again and recommend it for groups of 8 or more. Park the car and use the shuttle that stops out front for your stay.

Great Family Ski Home Experience in Fraser

  • 4 of 5

Our family had a comfortable stay at the Custom Timber Frame Home in Fraser. The location was ideal for access to the ski area via the bus and the Fraser Safeway as we prepared our breakfast and dinners facilitated by the available kitchen ware. The warm timber frame atmosphere of the Great Room with views to the mountains and the large family table that accommodated our entire family of 9 made for a very enjoyable ski vacation. The listing description was accurate and the property was clean and well maintained. The owner was helpful in the booking process and I would recommend to friends and relatives.

Fabulous Girls Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a girls getaway weekend (we are in our mid-40s) and the home is just beautiful! Plenty of room for the 13 of us. The home was clean and very comfortable. We loved the big open feeling of the main area as that is where we spent most of our time. The long table was perfect for all the meals we made and ate together, and cooking there was wonderful as all the kitchen appliances were modern and easy to use. GREAT views from the main windows. As I try to come up with items that I wasn't happy with, there are hardly any, but I would say the lighting over the dining table could be improved, but that is about it! The home looked just like the photos and the owner was very nice and helpful--communicated quickly with me. I would certainly recommend this home to others.

Winter Park Memories

  • 5 of 5

Our family of nine stayed in this home for a week. We enjoyed everything about the home! The architecture of the home is beautiful and the view from the home is awesome. There was plenty of room for each of our kids and their spouses to have their own bedroom and bath. We had a baby with us so having a crib and high chair was so helpful. The owner was very kind and easy to work with. We would recommend this home to others for their vacation. We would stay here again!!
