I returned to my hometown of Courtenay from Victoria to be be near my large extended family and to enjoy a lifestyle which includes outdoor living - gardening, biking, swimming in the rivers & ocean as well as entertaining and relaxing in our porch and gardens. I am passionate about Latin, Ballroom and Salsa dancing with my husband and our wonderful dance community.
We have travelled in Europe and throughout Mexico with fantastic bookings at other vrbo properties. It is my great pleasure to host guests from all over Canada and the world at my two properties in Courtenay, blueberry cottage & chocolate cottage - Vacation Rentals By Owner.

We enjoyed staying at blueberry cottage and being within walking distance to our son's house and shopping. Our grandson enjoyed the Brio train set and Burt and Ernie. Hope to be back soon, thanks for everything. It was nice to get away from cold Calgary weather!
We enjoyed our two week stay in this well cared for older home. The charming cottage is located within walking distance to downtown Courtenay's amenities including shops, cafes and groceries. Situated in a pleasantly landscaped yard, screened by hedges for privacy, we enjoyed the quiet location. The spacious interior has ample room and adequate cookware to prepare meals, bake a cake or entertain guests. All the appliances work well and the bathroom's clawfoot tub is wonderful for relaxing after a busy day of sight seeing. It's a bonus to have laundry on premises. We have been traveling for 15 months, so appreciated the space to spread out awhile. Maureen is always helpful and concerned about her guests comfort. When the temperature dropped below freezing she called to make certain we were staying warm enough. For convenience to downtown Courtenay and local Farmer's Market, this is hard to beat. We highly recommend you give it a try when visiting in the area. If it's not available, we also have experienced the Chocolate Cottage and it is equally wonderful, just smaller.
Our stay at Blueberry Cottage was a delight. We were just visiting from 3 hours away and it felt like we had truly arrived in a gorgeous holiday destination. The cottage has absolutely everything we needed plus 3 outdoor spaces to lounge or dine in. We could walk downtown or to the fabulous Puntledge river for a swim. Maureen has created a beautiful, cozy, clean and tastefully decorated cottage which we can't wait to return to.
We loved staying in the Blueberry Cottage, it is so charming and yet has enough space for five adults. You've done a wonderful job of decorating it and there was literally nothing we needed that we couldn't find. I loved all the little touches in every room! It was also great to be only two blocks away from the 5th Street shops and restaurants, and so close to grocery stores as well. The only thing I found challenging was the bath, I am a shower person and even though the original claw foot tub is completely beautiful it was a bit difficult to have a 'shower'.
We spent the summer of 2013 at the cottage and really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is close to all amenities, downtown area and fabulous places to dine. While we were there we searched for our new home in the Comox Valley. The cottage was located centrally to all locations. The gardens were beautiful and very relaxing for outdoor entertaining, reading and eating the raspberries, blackberries and apples that grow on the property.
A fabulous place to stay for easy walking access to downtown Courtenay. As a new mom with a brand new baby I found the one-level floor plan ideal with easy access to kitchen, bathroom and laundry. The extra bedrooms for momma's helpers to stay are a definite bonus. Wonderful bathtub!
Maureen is great, responsive and very supportive of home birth and having new babies at Blueberry Cottage. I thoroughly enjoyed my 5 week stay.
Blueberry Cottage is a comfy place to be.
A wonderful charming home. We were in the process of relocating to the Comox Valley, when we stumbled upon Blueberry Cottage. What a great find! Clean, comfy, cozy and not to mention in a great neighbourhood. Staying at the Cottage made our transition a little more pleasant. I would highly recommend a stay at this cute Cottage... whether it be long term or short term. An extra addition to our stay, was getting to know our kind host Maureen, she welcomes you as if you were family. A nice feeling when you are new to town.
The Old Orchard Neighbourhood of Courtenay is safe for walks offering mountain and river views as well as heritage houses and gardens. Walk to great shopping, dining and coffee shops, art galleries, museum, library, theatre and dancing as well as swimming, waterpark and a recreation center with indoor gym or outdoor workout area. Easily drive to wilderness areas in the mountains for hiking or skiing or to beaches.
