We are looking for guests looking to enjoy the Peace and Quiet of the Great Northwoods in Lutsen. Guests who appreciate leaving Small Footprints... who prefer Snowshoeing, Cross Country Skiing, Paddling, Hiking and Nature Viewing on their vacations Up North. We want to rent to those people that will respect our cabin, and respect our neighbors. Our cabin has a maximum of 4 adults and 2 children, no exceptions for additional guests.
Our log cabin is a relaxing respite from the busy city life. There currently is no telephone, limited Verizon cell service and no internet. It is important also to realize that MYR is approx. 14 miles from Highway 61 and Downtown Lutsen, so plan to bring your groceries with you. It is approximately 30 miles from Grand Marais (there is a lovely back road way in to Grand Marais that is great for moose viewing, see map in cabin).
For winter vacations, AWD vehicles are almost a must. We are an easy drive to Lutsen Mountains, weather depending about 25 minutes to the Ski Hill parking lot.
The cabin sleeps 4 adults comfortably, with a main level bedroom with a queen bed, and then an upstairs that has two open sleeping areas, one side has queen bed and the other has a full bed and a twin bed which works for 2 children. No more than 4 adults and two children in the cabin.
There is one main level bathroom, recently renovated with a new shower. All linens and towels are provided, please bring your own soaps and shampoos and hair dryer.
The kitchen is very functional, and Fiesta dishware for 6 is in the kitchen, along with most cooking supplies you will need. There is a coffee maker, microwave, small oven and 4 burner electric cooktop stove and refridgerator. Dining table seats 6.
There is a charcoal grill (Bring your own charcoal) and some outdoor furniture on the deck.
There is a flat screen tv with Directv and a built in DVD player in the TV.
Check in time is after 2:00 p.m. Check out time is before 11:00 a.m..
We want you to understand that Tait Lake is a very environmentally aware area, and those that live here prefer the quieter things in life such as canoeing and kayaking over jet skis and big motor boats. The lake itself is approximately 338 acres, and has a max depth of 15 ft. It has some walleye and northern, but the populations seem to be a bit down, so that we encourage fishing at one of the 10-20 lakes within a 5-15 minute drive. (See map in cabin). Tait is a great lake for kayaking and canoeing, it does have a lot of rocky structure that makes motor boating difficult. There is a dock on the property that is shared with the owners, you may see them stroll through to the dock on occasion. There is also a canoe and kayak launch on the property for launching your canoe or kayak. Surrounding Tait there are tons of old logging roads and trails that make great hiking, or enjoy a 10 minute drive to Eagle Mountain Trail head, the highest point in MN. (Gorgeous vistas after an hour hike to the top, if you go plan to take some drinking water with you!) The Brule Lake Entry Point to the BWCAW is less than 10 minutes from the cabin.
15 miles inland from Lake Superior up the Caribou Trail in Lutsen, owner will provide directions upon rental reservation.
