As featured in Dwell Magazine: a mix of modern architecture and old-world charm makes this 1820 manor home an inspired destination. Sited at the edge of a pristine brook and waterfall, the home’s grand spaces, dramatic details, and expansive aura are as enchanting as the landscape surrounding it. An enormous kitchen features polished concrete floors, a wood-fired pizza oven, and a two-story wall of glass framing views of the brook, gazebo, apple trees, and barn. French doors lead to an expansive covered porch, suspended over the water’s edge, and the waterfall’s cascading rhythms fill the great room and master suite. Original cast-iron beds and wavy glass windows adorn all sleeping quarters, and vintage farmhouse furnishings abound throughout. Restaurants, farmers markets, river rafting, and concerts are all a country mile away. But the Floating Farmhouse is likely where you'll want to be. The perfect place for a ladies 40th birthday weekend - we hired a local yoga teacher from Narrowsburg, made homemade pizza, hiked in the snow, and sat by the fire. The kitchen is unbelievable and the entire house is so well appointed - it's like home but better. I cant wait to go back.
I celebrated my 40th birthday at the Floating Farmhouse with a group of girlfriends. It was the perfect setting for us to reconnect over a long winter weekend making pizza and playing games around the fire. Despite plans to go hiking and explore the town, the farmhouse was so warm and relaxing we never left.... we might even make it an annual thing!
We stayed here for a company off-site meeting and fell in love with the Floating Farmhouse! We're a design-oriented outdoor gear company, and couldn't imagine a better location for us to bring the team. It was just a short drive from NYC but felt like it was worlds away. The house fits perfectly in the tranquil surroundings, and it was such a pleasurable departure from the hustle and bustle of the city. We're looking forward to our next trip. Highly recommended!
Our family stayed at the Floating Farmhouse for Christmas and we all agree—we will never forget this magical place and the time we were so lucky to spend here. Tom Givone is a terrifically talented designer, and his artful renovation to this incredible farmhouse is evident down to the smallest details. Everything we needed, and more, was there. We even saw a family of six deer framed in the exquisite expanse of glass in the kitchen! I can not imagine a better place to relax, convene with family, and soak in the gorgeous Catskills landscape.
the house was truly beautiful - so beautiful that we never left! it was such a great weekend away and so peaceful to be there. i would definitely recommend to anyone and hope to stay there myself again soon! betsy was also super nice and very helpful!
We slept in a jewel of a home. Ate pizza from its wood burning oven. Tubed, played croquet on the spacious lawn. Watched deer, warblers, fox, porcupines, wild turkeys and salamanders. Ate out at amazing restaurants nearby and didn't want to leave. What an exquisite, special place. I will return soon.
The Floating Farmhouse, located in the heart of the Catskills, is just outside the historic hamlet of Narrowsburg, NY. This postcard-perfect little town, perched high on the cliffs overlooking the Delaware River, offers antique shops, art galleries, SOHO-style stores, a coffee house, and elegant Al fresco dining along the banks of the river. Also nearby is Skinner’s Falls, where you can swim, canoe, go inner tubing, or just sun on the rocks and read the Sunday Times as the pristine waters gurgle all around you. Closer to home is Lake Superior State Park, which features a swimming area, sand beach, picnic areas with grills, and rowboat and paddle boat rentals. Henning's Local, a group-friendly restaurant close to home as well, emphasizes locally grown ingredients and bold flavors, served in a grand, rustic space overlooking a small lake. The Bethel Woods Center for the Performing Arts, a 15-minute drive, features artists like Dave Matthews and The Moody Blues. Golf and horseback riding are both within 20 minutes.
