If you're planning a visit to Prince Edward County (any time of the year) consider staying at Stillwood farm. It is perfectly set up for a family or group of friends with a modern kitchen, 2 1/2 bathrooms, comfortable living and dining area, air conditioning, screened in back porch, deck, barbeque, gazebo, tree house, cozy library, piano, fireplace, seating area on upstairs landing with large screen and movie projector and trails through the woods for hiking, snow shoeing or cross country skiing. There are three bedrooms - one with a queen sized bed, one with a double bed, and one with a double bed and a 3/4 bed. Enjoy the beautiful views from every window: barns, flowers, birch and apple trees, birds and wildlife. We have seen an owl sitting on a railing on our back deck, ruffed grouse in winter, deer crossing the yard, wild turkeys and lots of rabbits. At night you can sometimes hear wolves howling or coyotes yapping, especially if there's a full moon.
We provide all of the bedding, linens, towels, cooking utensils, plates, glassware, condiments, bicycles and snow shoes.
There's lots to do in the County but friends who have stayed with us say the thing they like most about coming to the farm is just relaxing and doing nothing.

We bought this property in 2004. It was a case of love at first sight. As we have a very large family, we bought another property (Stillwood Creek) so we can accommodate more of them when we all get together. Both properties are available for rental when we are not using them.
Prince Edward County is quite special. It's surrounded by water (the Bay of Quinte and Lake Ontario) and also has several lakes (East Lake, West Lake and Lake Consecon). The area has always been popular with tourists because of it's natural beauty and white sand beaches but in the last decade or so it has become even more popular because of its many wineries, excellent restaurants, cheese factories, and artist studios. The County is also a very popular destination for cyclists.
Winter or summer it's nice to be at the farm. In the winter the County is a wonderfully peaceful place to be ... we enjoy the trails behind the house for cross country skiing, and curling up in the library with a good book or enjoying a sauna after a good hike. In the summer we enjoy the screened in porch which is a lovely place to have dinner and enjoy the sounds of summer. We have seen lots of wildlife around the property - deer, rabbits, an owl once on the back deck, ruffed grouse eating the red berries on a bush in the front flower bed, and wild turkey. At night we can hear wolves and coyotes.
Although this property is not on the water there are many places where you can dock a boat a short drive from the farm.
