Good value
This condo was a very pleasant surprise. It was well kept (clean) and very quiet. Just a few steps away from the pool. We came during the low tourist season (end of May, June) and had the whole place practically to ourselves. The weather was quite warm but the AC unit worked wonderfully.
We rented a condo instead of a hotel so we could cook. My only dissapointment was that the kitchen was very sparsely furnished (only 2 pots to cook with), and no condiments provided, not even salt. So if you stay here, be prepared to stock the kitchen from ground up. (try the Always 99 cents store, or the Econo grocery store nearby)
And the beach is advertised as private, but all beaches in PR are public. Beach access was not that great (walking through a very muddy (due to recent rains) path through foresty area to get to beach. Also, during the time we were there, the beach wasn't very swimmable (too much algae growth ).
Besides that, excellent place to stay in Cabo Rojo to get away from the city, but driving distance to restaurants, etc.
Owner's Response: Thanks for your review. We will re-stock the kitchen so it will have more pots and pans. Walkway to the beach is thru a Natural Reserve Mangrove Forest and, even though it usually does not rain in this area, May is the rainiest month of the year in Puerto Rico. I am sorry that you had to walk thru mud to get to the beach. La Mela beach is very shallow and grassy in some areas since it is a sub-reef area. All Winter our guest found the beach perfect. Several weeks in the year the sea cleans itself and the beach gets much more algae and debris; apparently that is what happened during your stay.
