About the host
Hosted by Gwendeline Picknell
Hello, I’m Gwen, and it’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance. When we first embarked on this guesthouse journey years ago, I had no idea just how rewarding it would turn out to be. So, to begin with, let me express how much we truly enjoy hosting here. When I say “we,” I mean not only myself but also my husband Ken, who’s a Building Consultant and Director, our daughter Claire, who works as a Travel Consultant, and our son-in-law Kimmo. In my spare time, I find immense joy in gardening, decorating, and taking on various DIY projects. I’m also known for making South African Biltong and Boerewors, which are always a hit around here. Traveling has been a passion of ours, and now, with guests from all corners of the globe staying with us, we get to hear their stories, learn about their countries, and share incredible experiences – it’s truly awesome. I often find myself pottering around, enjoying the process of refurbishing various objects. We’ve had the privilege of calling this amazing island home for the past 15 years, and in 2011, we made Rawacou our permanent residence. We’re now settled in our forever house, where we’ve designed guest accommodations with you in mind. We can hardly wait to share both our wonderful abode and this lovely island with you. Wishing you safe and joyful travels, and we sincerely hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you soon!
Why they chose this property
Rural, peaceful and relaxing with the ever present sound of Atlantic Ocean waves. We are a two minute walk from Rawacou beach and recreation park.
