Great for our ski trip
Came up to Beech mountain for a weekend ski trip. This apartment comfortably housed myself and five of my friends. It feels slightly larger than the pictures make it look, but it is basically an efficiency.
There are two queen beds, and the sleeper sofa. The sleeper sofa wasn't the most comfortable thing in the world, but it got the job done. I would imagine that smaller children would have no problem sleeping on it.
The floorboard heaters kept the room at a comfortable temperature, and they were so quiet we weren't even sure they were working. As a bonus there is also an electric bathroom heater in the wall. We had no problem staying warm despite it being very, very cold outside.
The kitchen was stocked, but not well stocked. We didn't bring pans large enough to cook all of our food at the same time, so breakfast and dinner were always a challenge. Since the grocery store is quite a bit away you may want to plan out your meals ahead of time. Fast Eddies has a convenience store which helped us with some things we forgot, but don't count on them to have everything you need. The four-burner stove top, oven, and microwave are all in operating condition. The fridge/freezer combo also suited our needs. We didn't get the chance to use the dishwasher as there was no detergent (we hand washed with dish soap from Fast Eddies).
The location was my favorite part of staying here. Fair warning though... if there is expected snowfall DO NOT mess around thinking you can make it without snowchains and/or a 4x4. Beech Mountain is at a pretty high elevation, and when the snow comes down it freezes up pretty quick. We had snow on our arrival date, and the owner was kind enough to call the morning of to see if we could still make it (asked if we had 4x4). I informed them that we would still be coming, but did not end up bringing a 4x4. We were lucky to be able to safely get my SUV close enough to the condo to carry our stuff up, but some other travelers did not fare so well (there was a massive pileup at the entrance of the slopes that night). Once we were there we never had to move the car. The condo isn't right next door to the slopes, but it really is a pretty close walk. If you're walking the shortest way to get there is to go to the end of the driveway and turn left up the hill. Fast Eddies is also walking distance.
The room was everything we needed, and for a great price. I could definitely see myself staying here again for another weekend.
