PRIVATE SCENIC LAKEFRONT AND BED AND BREAKFAST ON 200 ACRES

Willow House Rental Photos and Description

4 Bedrooms, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 7-13)

There is no better base camp for your stay in Alaska. Perfectly located to great fishing and points of interests. We would like to invite you to stay with us in our newly remodeled Alaskan bed and breakfast with its own wildlife museum. Centrally located.

Spend the night in one of four beautiful Alaskan themed rooms with private baths OR in our 1800 sq ft apartment on the third level with two bedrooms and a loft, full bath and full kitchen. Dishwasher, washer and dryer, direct TV and view are included.

When you spend the night in our bed and breakfast you awake to a full Alaskan breakfast in the morning and as you eat in the dining room, overlooking the private lake, you may have a chance to view wildlife. Your view of the Talkeetna Mountains is excellent as you talk to host Jim Huston about Alaska and his adventures. Jim is very creative and a true Alaskan.

Our three rooms on the second level have a entrance of their own and a stairway to get to the rooms. Our Alaska Room features a queen bed and is based on a homesteaders cabin with your own indoor outhouse. Our Whale room features two queen beds and a private bath with scenic mountain scene. A 12 ft piece of Baleen is in the room. Our Polar Bear room includes a queen bed and polar bear decorations with you own private bath with tub.

Our Denali room is located on the first floor with a private entrance. It has two queen beds and private bath with separate shower. A folding bed could be added to accommodate and extra sleeper. Jim's artistic talent was shown again with a painted mural of Mt. McKinley on the wall.

Sit outside on our patio overlooking the lake with green lawns and start of a golf course. Watch the ducks and loons on our lake or take a paddle boat ride. Get your exercise by walking the two mile trail through the woods with many type of plants, wildflowers, birds and wildlife.

Maybe you will enjoy riding over historic Hatchers Pass and go gold panning or just be adventurous and explore the many mines nearby.

Come in March for the Iditarod Restart located three miles away on Willow Lake and stay to play in the Chamber of Commerces annual Official State Ice Golf Tournament, golf clubs provided.

In the summer enjoy our farmers market. The Parks Highway gets closed on July 4th as our little town celebrates the 4th of July with a parade and whole community picnic. You would be welcome.

Take a trip over scenic Hatchers Pass with its many gold mines and visit Historic Independence Mines. Fish Deska Landing, Willow Creek, Little Su or any of the many lakes in the region. Go rafting or canoeing at South Rolly or Nancy Lake. Willow has many lakes maybe you would like to take a sight seeing air tour to see all the beautiful lakes or over Mckinley.

Kathy and Jim,

Thanks again for putting me and my handlers up in your bed and breakfast.

Jim and Kathy Huston have lived in Willow for over 25 years. Jim was raised in Alaska since he was 7 years old, His family homestead in the Palmer area. Jim worked for 35 years for Alaska State Parks and Kathy for the school district till they retired.

We are both very active in the community as past presidents of the Chamber of Commerce and Willow Community Organization. We both volunteer in our church the Willow UMC.

Jim is working on building a 9 hole golf course with 3 holes in already. He is always busy working with his equipment or helping out in the community. He organizes the State Winter Ice Golf Tournament every March.

We have a great little dog named Moose- Moose who was the Trick Dog Champion at the Willow Winter Carnival. He loves to entertain for food and marshmallows. Our guest really like him.

We have a large vegetable garden that grows lots of veggies and weeds. Our flowers are beautiful.

kathleen huston purchased this house in 1991

Our house was our home before the bed and breakfast. We converted rooms when the children moved out. We added a private bath in every room and Jim, who is very creative has made each room unique with his imagination.

You will have comfortable rooms with a private bath, friendly hosts, very good breakfasts usually with moose sausage in the mornings.

Our apartment is located on the 3rd level with magnificent views of the mountains and private lake.

Play three holes of golf on our new golf course

THE TRUE ALASKAN EXPERIENCE!

  • 5 of 5
For the true Alaskan experience - this is the place to stay! The hosts, Jim and Kathy Huston, make you feel like you have known them forever, and welcomed us like family. The home is warm, inviting, comfortable and uniquely Alaskan. Jim's wildlife and fish trophies enhance the artistic, Alaska-themed rooms that Jim designed and created – including 3D mural paintings! Amazing! The quiet location has breath-taking mountain views that ascend above the fish-teeming lake just outside the door. Our breakfast was delicious, and according to the locals we talked to, Kathy’s cooking is well known as the best in the local community. Did I mention it would be hard to beat these great prices? Incredible place! We will definitely be back!

FIRST TIME ALASKAN VISITOR

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed three separate nights at Alaskan Host B&B during May 2012. Each stay included a hike around the beautiful lake and grounds. Jim and Kathy are warm, welcoming hosts with friendly and helpful information about Alaska travel. Their home and guest rooms are skillfully appointed and comfortable. Kathy prepares awesome breakfasts. We would love to be able to stay with them again.

LOVELY ROOMS, BEAUTIFUL GROUNDS AND LAKE.

  • 5 of 5
We stayed here in September, and every morning breakfast was different. Beautiful relaxing grounds, lakes and trails to walk. Our rooms was lovely, self-contained, and we had our own entry.

There was plenty to do in the surrounding area so we filled in a week with no trouble. Easy to find the place too thank goodness because we usually get lost very easy. They owners make you feel right at home and this place has a nice in-the-woods feeling. Theres a lot offering and it suited us.
