About Nancy Abrams

I am a Financial Advisor with a major firm. My husband is a Computer Engineer. We are fortunate to be able to split our time between Breckenridge, CO, and Coral Springs, FL. We have three children, five grandchildren, and two Golden Retrievers. We ski, hike, play tennis, and golf.

Nancy Abrams purchased this house in 1995

Why Nancy Abrams chose Vacation Homes in Breckenridge

We searched for several years before deciding to buy in Breckenridge. We love the town, the mountain, and the proximity to Denver. The people in Breckenridge are wonderful and the town is family friendly.

What makes this house unique

The bus stops right across the street which makes it so easy for the family to get around town and avoid parking at the resort. We can arrive at the gondola in 10 minutes or less.

Wonderful Home

  • 5 of 5

My family went out to Colorado to visit my sister and her family who moved to Denver in the fall. We were looking forward to catching up and having lots of winter adventures. This house was the perfect place to do so. It's even nicer than the pictures and had the perfect layout. My mom enjoyed the privacy of the downstairs bedroom/bathroom, and we were able to fit three kids and two couples in the upper bedrooms. The open layout of the living room/kitchen/dining room is also great. It was also wonderful to have the bus stop right across the street. We used it for all our activities save snow shoeing, and it make the trip a lot easier, especially with the kids.

While I had no problems at all about the house, I would like to add a personal story. We had been recommended to stay a night in Denver before we came up the mountain (We're from New York). We were anxious to start our fun and ignored that advice. We arrived at the house at 3pm, and by 8pm, my husband and I were in the ER with altitude sickness. My three year old got sick the next day, and we had to use oxygen compressors the entire week. We felt better after day 2 and were able to enjoy all the wonderful things of Breckenridge, but it was a really terrible start to a trip. I highly recommend that people research altitude sickness before they come (the house is even higher than the town), and take care. Dr. Gray is an emergency care doctor that will take calls and house calls and was extremely helpful when we were taking care of my daughter. He said he would also be happy to help people prepare before they come. I strongly recommend giving him a call. https://plus.google.com/103196585261912010113/about?gl=us&hl=en

Great space for our group of 11!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay over President's weekend. Everyone in our group complimented the layout of the house and accommodations, especially for a larger group. We had 7 adults, 4 kids and one dog. It was about 5 minutes up Boreas Pass Rd. from town. Stunning views of the Breckenridge ski slopes. It was wonderful to have a garage. I recommend a 4WD for wintertime transportation. We took our front wheel drive car but parked in town overnight before the 3-5" snowstorm. I would stay there again and recommend it.

THE BEST 2 Week Ski Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This home was absolutely wonderful and the owners could not have been more accommodating!! We were welcomed with a sweet note and a bottle of Chardonnay! And when we had a question about the hot tub, the owners got back to us within MINUTES! That has never happened with a VRBO property!

We planned a ski trip as a family reunion and this home was the perfect fit for our needs.

The main floor is big and open with the kitchen being in the center - to the left of the kitchen is a dining area and to the right is the big living area. Our group of 9 was able to eat meals together at the big dining table (so great) and after a day at the slopes, we all fit comfortably in the living room for movies and board games. Having a working grill on the living room porch was a huge plus for us and we used it almost every night!

The hot tub is just 2 tiny steps away from the garage (believe me, we counted how many steps because Breckenridge in the winter is not a place you want to be running around in your swimsuit from the house to the hot tub!) so it didn't feel like a hassle to hit the hot tub after skiing all day. It was perfect!!

The views are truly as great as they seem. Huuuge windows look out onto the slopes from the living room and the master bedroom - so gorgeous.

The laundry room was on the garage level, which was great. Get inside, take all your ski gear off, throw it in the washer and you're set.

Having a garage was an incredible feature too. We drove my (new) car to Breckenridge so being able to house it in a garage was key.

Which brings me to the roadways getting to the house and the driveway - lots of winter vacation rentals don't tell you what the actual conditions are GETTING to the home. The main road this house sits on is salted and plowed everyday, all day long started at about 6am so its always safe to drive! The driveway to this house is SHORT and FLAT. No getting stuck. That was a big concern of mine because of past experiences at other rentals.

Last, the free shuttle to the slopes is literally across the driveway. It comes on the 18 and the 48 of every hour til 1am! We took the shuttle multiple times a day - for the ski slopes and for dinners into town. The shuttle ride to town takes about 10 minutes. Easy and stress free.

We can't say enough good things about this home and when we return to Breckenridge, we'll be renting this house again!

AWESOME VIEW OF THE MOUNTAINS!!!!

  • 5 of 5

The property was just as it had been described and meet all of our expectations. The house was warm and inviting for our vacation stay to the mountains. The kitchen was well stocked with the necessary equipment for us to prepare meals everyday for us to focus on family tine. The house was spacious which gave each of us our space and privacy as well. The transit system stop was just outside the driveway which was very convienent for the late night trips to Breckenridge and to the ski slopes. My family enjoyed the trip immensley and hope to return in the future. You can not go wrong with this rental property.

beautiful sunsets!

  • 4 of 5

The views from this house are incredible! Both sunrises and sunsets were really spectacular! It was a great location for the in-town shuttle and easy 5 minutes into town. It is close to several trails for hiking and was clean and pretty well equipped (Could use some tongs for the grill and more wine glasses!). We had a couple of maintenance issues (which can happen anywhere) that were handled with a quick response by the owners. The gas fireplace was a delight to have every morning and evening as it was pretty chilly, especially for July and August. Appliances all worked well and the beds, at least in the master, were comfortable. We had anywhere from 13 to 2 people during the three weeks we were there and it could accommodate us all, though having 13 was a little tight! Breckenridge was a great vacation spot and we were so pleased we could find a place that we could bring our dogs!

Owner's Response: I was just told by my cleaning people that most of our wine glasses are gone. If I had been told by our guests, we would would have replaced them immediately. Also, our grill tongs must have also disappeared.

Great views and family time in Breck

  • 4 of 5

The home was very nice with amazing views! The owner's were very available to contact, very friendly, and willing to help with anything if needed. We very much enjoyed the animals and the bird watching we did while there. The house was wonderful and the kitchen was stocked well with supplies. The proximity to hiking trails and the bus stop right across the street were definite bonuses! The home was clean and well kept.

Our only issue was that the hot tub did not maintain any kind of consistent temperature and was either too hot or too cold to use most of the time. Just a small thing really.

Breckenridge was beautiful and we truly enjoyed our stay. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone.

Owner's Response: The hot tub's heater is on a timer. The timer goes on at 2:00 P.M. and stays on until 10:00 P.M. The renter called me to tell me that the water was only at 94 degrees at 9:00 A.M. If it got too hot, it was probably because they turned it up too high. My husband explained the controls and I thought the issue was resolved. I've never had a renter who wanted to use the hot tub in the morning. It is not feasible to run the heater 24 hours per day, but it can be adjusted manually. Everything has been checked and is working properly.
