Albuquerque House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Bosque Retreat is located just north of Albuquerque in the town of Rio Rancho, about 30 minutes from theABQ airport. The house backs up to open-space, situated above the Rio Grande Bosque river trails, with wide-open views of the Sandia mountains. There are miles and miles of trails, right out the back gate. And endless sun-rise and 'water-melon' colored sunsets to view from the back patio. The night skies offer plenty of star gazing opportunities, as we are far enough away from the city ambient light.

The Bosque Retreat is a 2400 square foot Santa Fe style home, with stucco walls, tiled floors, arched doorways and niches. You enter this charming ranch style retreat, under the viga trimmed covered front patio and through the turquoise front door into the adobe walled main entrance that leads to the open great room with high beamed ceilings. The wrap around windows, fill the room with the New Mexico blue skies, sunlight and the expansive view of the Sandia mountains and the beautiful river Bosque below.

The' Kiva' gas fireplace brings ambiance to the great room and adjoining kitchen and dining areas. The 42' flat TV screen is accompanied with Cable TV, DVD/Video and CD player for a relaxing evening at home after a day of hiking or biking along the Bosque trails. Casa del Bosque has Wi-Fi high-speed internet access for all of your communication needs.

The open kitchen, with sky light, high ceiling and gourmet pot and pan hanger, fits perfectly over the large kitchen bar area, complete with stools for a visit over a morning cup of coffee or day trip planning with your group. The kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances and beautiful southwest serving dishware and flatware for any meal or gathering. The dining room flows from the kitchen and is surrounded by windows and sliding doors for more dramatic mountain views!

There is a laundry room with washer, dryer, ironing board and iron, as well as a generous half bath at this end of the house, with a full pantry with any of the extras you may have left home.

The Bosque Retreat is air-conditioned to keep you cool during the high-desert summer months and quiet, radiant floor heat to keep your toes warm on cool winter mornings.

The extra-wide, tiled hallway, complete with lighted niche, arched entrance and sky lights, leads to the spacious master bedroom, with a walk-in sky-lit closet. You enter the master bath through an arched opening to an oval tub with wrap around block windows and southwestern tile, double sink, and an over-sized walk in shower with rain showerhead and more block windows.

The master bedroom has a luxurious king bed, and opens out onto the veranda, where two cushioned chaise lounges offer a serene spot for a good book and a full panoramic view of the Sandia mountains. Lie in bed as the sunrise over the Sandia gently welcomes you to the new day.

The second spacious guest bedroom boasts a California King that always brings compliments of a deep restful sleep. There is abundant closet space and an antique roll top desk. This room has more of a 'western' motif.

The third guest bedroom is charming with a luxurious queen bed! There is a special library section, yoga mats and a chi-machine for your relaxation enjoyment!

These two bedrooms can share the second full bath across the hall and/or use the third half bath, just off the kitchen.

The front patio, is a quiet space, with banco walls for privacy. The viga columns, trim and wood ceiling give it a warm feeling and the sky light over the bench, makes it a great spot to read the morning paper or enjoy a moment of solitude.

The back veranda (70'x 8') expands the square footage of the living space and over-looks the professionally landscaped spacious back yard and beyond: over the four foot wall and out the back gate, into the open space of the Rio Grande Bosque trails and the unobstructed view of the Sandia mountains. Kick back with a margarita or a glass of lemonade, throw dinner on the gas BBQ grill and relax in one of the cushioned Adirondack chairs or at the outdoor dining table and soak in the fresh air and the view.

The Bosque Retreat is in an aviary by-way, so you can enjoy the many variety of birds, including hawk and humming birds, that soar overhead and a resident road runner family that visits on occasion!

If you are here during the Balloon Fiesta, you can watch the balloons right from your patio.

The quaint towns of Corrales and Bernalillo (just minutes away) are wonderful havens for art, local restaurants and unique shopping. The famous town of Madrid (Wild Hogs movie fame) & Cerrillos - full of art and beautiful scenery, is about a 40 minute drive. It is an easy 40 minutes to Santa Fe and an hour to the beautiful Jemez mountains and natural hot springs. The Sandia Tram and mountain drive are a great way to see an expansive view from the top of the mountain with restaurants and gift shopping along the way. A 35 minute ride will take you to downtown Albuquerque, UNM sporting events, and old Central Avenue's trendy shops and restaurants. There is abundant hiking, biking, golfing, gambling, hot air ballooning, movies, shopping and live entertainment minutes away.

About Debi Peterson

Debi and Randy moved to Rio Rancho and Jemez Springs, 4 years ago, after living in Colorado for 30 years, where Randy flew helicopters for the Army National Guard and worked in the airline business and Debi taught in the field of mind/body health. They moved to explore the beauty of New Mexico and to be close to family. They love their Rio Rancho home, taking walks on the Bosque trails and sharing this space with family and freinds. They never get tired of the ever changing view of the Sandia mountains, the quiet and the wide open space that surrounds them. They feel like this special home is meant to be enjoyed by many! They have a little cabin just an hour away in the Jemez mountains, they call thier second home so as they share Rio Rancho with you, they can enjoy thier place in the Jemez.. Randy enjoys fishing and riding his motorcycle through the New Mexio mountains and Debi loves teaching yoga and energy medicine. They both enjoy hiking and biking and going on camping.

Debi Peterson purchased this house in 2008

Why Debi Peterson chose Albuquerque

To quote our real estate agent: 'This place has a million dollar view!'. Bosque Retreat is conveniently located for access to Albuquerque, the Jemez mountains, Santa Fe, Albuquerque Old Town and the Sandia mountains and all the things the city and mountains have to offer, as well as it's access to open space, walking and biking trails, the view of the Sandias, the Rio Grande river and the expansive sky!

What makes this house unique

Although we are in a neighborhood, the lots are spacious, there are no street lights to dim the star gazing at night and there is a quiet peacefulness here. There are many beautiful homes in New Mexico but we have not found one yet that we would trade ours for! We love everything about the inside and outside of our Bosque Retreat home and look forward to sharing it with you!

Beautiful Bosque Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 6 week visit to New Mexico and the Bosque Retreat. Thank you, Randy and Debi, for accommodating us at the last minute. The view from the house and the easy access to multiple interesting trails were awesome. New Mexico has so much to offer and the house is perfectly located for exploring this gorgeous state. Thank you for your hospitality and kindness. And if your paths ever take you to Northeast Wisconsin, stop by!

Home away from home!!!

  • 5 of 5

Usually by the end of a vacation, we are looking forward to the comforts of home. This trip, we feel like we ARE home (only with a better art collection). It will be hard to leave. You have likely, already, read the wonderful things about Debi & Randy, all of them accurate! Both are people you would hang with if you lived in ABQ, and we will think of them long after we have left. Much thanks to them for sharing their lovely home!

Sisters getaway vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed your home so much! It was restful, peaceful, filled with so many interesting art pieces, close to trails by the river, clean, organized, colorful, quiet, and so many reasons to like it. There are many artistic people in our family, so this is the place to go (New Mexico). We all want to go back again! From the sisters, Lani, Ginger, Sandy and Diane. April/May 2014

Balloon filled skies !

  • 5 of 5

A true home away from home. Lifetime of memories. Balloon filled skies, some landing at our feet! Unique décor. Quiet desert retreat. Ultra comfortable beds. Extra care given to our every need and details. Randy and Debi felt like family. Quick response to requests. Unusually warm and friendly.

Our only regret is we had to say goodbye!

Hiking and biking on the Bosque river trails are right out the back gate! You can ride North to Bernalillo and South to Corrales and Albuquerque along the Rio Grande river, right from the house! There a beautiful views and some areas are shaded.

The Balloon Fiesta is the largest hot air balloon gathering in the world. All three years, we have had outstanding balloon watching right out the front and back door. We have had a few land and been able to help them in the breaking down process. It is beautiful to watch the balloons with the Sandia mountains and the colorful fall Bosque trees as the back drop. Ballooning is an all year round sport, so many other weekends you can see balloons out in the early morning!

Walking and biking riding along the Bosque trails is one of the most special places to walk and ride you will ever experience.
