The Kona Islander Inn complex is right across from the ocean in the heart of Kona's Kailua Village. It gives you the fun of downtown while providing a quiet retreat in which to relax. From your cute studio apartment with a half-kitchen, stroll through the plumeria-laden walk to Alii Drive which runs along the ocean. This is a truly charming, yet affordable Hawaiian getaway! Picture yourself sipping morning coffee on your comfortable lanai as the filtered sun streams through the tropical leaves protecting your table. Everything is fresh in this private ground floor studio located near the pool/hot tub and BBQ area.
This great location provides you with peaceful surroundings, yet you are just a few steps away from sunsets on Kailua Bay, great restaurants and convenient shopping. You'll find treasures at the Kona Marketplace. Buy local and exotic fresh fruits at the Kona Farmer's Market. Sip world-famous Kona coffee where it's grown. Enjoy award-winning brews from the Kona Brewing Company. It's all just a stroll from your home-away-from-home.
We moved to Kona from Minnesota in 1999 and love it here. We're not retired, but we feel like we're on vacation anytime we're not at work. It's just a great place to be. We both work with the schools in West Hawaii and love the chance to contribute to the education of our future leaders. One of them might become President, so we have to do a good job.
The Owner purchased this condo in 2005
We decided to buy this unit because it has a comfortable, Old Hawaii feel to it. We knew we'd be happy to stay there or to have friends and family stay there. It's relaxing, quiet and comfortable. Plus, although you have a half-kitchen (fridge, microwave, coffee pot, blender, and toaster oven with all utensils) and a gas barbecue for cooking, you're within a block of a number of restaurants for beakfast, lunch or dinner. You're across from the ocean and you can snorkel anywhere along the Kona coast. Or, catch your tour at the Pier, just a couple of blocks up Alii Drive. It's as convenient as it can be.
The comfort and convenience of this unit is what we enjoy the most. You're near enough to see the pool and the barbecue grills, but not so close that you're getting splashed. You're within steps of the ocean along Alii Drive, but you're insulated from the noise of the cars that cruise along it. And there's nothing very far away, so you can easily get along without a car if you want to hang out in Kailua Village. Get a car or take tours if you want to see Volcanoes National Park (which is awesome, by the way) or the waterfalls and botanical wonders of the more rainy east side of the island.
