Unlike other vacation rentals in the Balsam area, balsamSKY provides guests with a spectacular 360 degree view of surrounding mountain ranges and absolute privacy at the end of a private road. The property is conveniently located only 8 miles from downtown Waynesville and 12 miles from Maggie Valley. Area attractions include downtown Asheville, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Great Smoky Mountains. This vacation property is family owned and operated.

BalsamSKY is located on top of Piney Mountain in the village of Balsam, just 1 mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway. The property is conveniently located 7 miles from Waynesville and 10 miles from Sylva. The house features sweeping long range views of the Smokies from the wrap around deck, and there are many options for hiking or mountain biking right from the property.

Downtown Waynesville provides travelers with numerous options for fine dining, shopping, local art and crafts and bookstores. Area activities include hiking in the Nantahala National Forest or from the Blue Ridge Parkway, eco tours with local guides, whitewater rafting and kayaking, golf, mountain biking, horseback riding, and fishing.

Asheville is a short 30 minute drive from Balsam. There, visitors can enjoy the Biltmore House, a vibrant alternative music scene, art galleries and museums, cocktails at the Grove Park Inn, casual/fine dining and ethnic food, eclectic neighborhoods and historic homes and sites

What a wonderful house, set high on a mountain. We spent blissful mornings looking down on the fog in the valley, watching the clouds open up and evaporate.
The history of the house, milled from trees that grew on the mountain enhanced our stay. Tongue and groove paneling, tongue and groove flooring- this is not a house you will find anywhere else.
All of the basics were here. The kitchen was well equipped and attractive.
We would be happy to stay here again.
