The first time I set foot on this beach I felt myself exhale with pure joy! The house is just as beautiful and welcoming as the view. Imagine yourself with family and friends having an exciting and memorable escape together.

You will find some of the world's best salmon fishing along the shores of the property. Qualicum is surrounded by rivers, lakes, marinas, golf courses and it's only a short drive to fantastic skiing at Mount Washington, or the exciting beaches of Tofino. Qualicum Landing is one of the most unique places on Vancouver Island.

Go hiking and exploring at Englishman river and falls or the nearby caves and climbing. It's a spectacular day trip directly west to fantastic surfing and beaches to say nothing of the great dining of Tofino. Horse back riding, golf and mini-golf surround you. Watch your kids skim boarding on the vast sandy beaches at Qualicum Beach. Kids love to bike on the lanes and cul de sacs of Qualicum Landing's private streets. Bring your family together for a reunion every year and if you need a second house nearby to accommodate everyone, that can be arranged!

In winter the Qualicum micro climate will shelter you from the cold and snow that we find in most of our great country. That's when you can enjoy great skiing, snow shoeing, cross country skiing and skidooing at the higher altitudes where the snow belongs!

You can find yourself, like me, walking along the beach and discovering treasures, watching nature and taking breathtaking photos, relaxing by the pool, going for an early morning swim, skiing at Mt Washington, hiking along the local trails, eating at the great restaurants, taking a day trip to Tofino, shopping and entertainment in Qualicum Beach, visiting Salt Spring Island on Market Day, sailing Georgia Straight, playing tennis on our own courts, watching my granddaughter playing with all the kids on the lawn, gathering family and friends in the coziness of home with enough space for quiet time, too. The list goes on and on and is only limited by one's imagination. I can't think of a better place on earth.

The seal

The seal used to play with us every morning in the bay when Brian and I went kayaking and paddle boarding, he was so cute, and the kids loved all of the starfish and sand dollars on the beach at low tide. We had a crab race on the road in front of the house for the kids before we cooked them up for a seafood feast, but unfortunately didn’t get any pictures(it was not a very lively race, but all of the neighbors thought it was pretty funny). Even the 2 wee kids made it through Horne lake caves, they fancied themselves explorers.

We had a great time! There was more than enough space for all of us. We were so amazed with how beautiful everything is and how everything in the house was brand new!!! I guess we just assumed that "cottages" would have your old used stuff and you'd get the new for your permanent home. It was great for making big family meals. Made it a joy to cook :) We had a great time feeding all the kids and enjoying the chaos that comes along with young families!

The kids had an absolute blast! The pool is a HUGE asset and they had so much fun throwing rocks in the water at the beach.
For activities, we went to Coombs and it just happened to be the summer fair. It was awesome! The kids loved seeing the animals and going on the rides. It's a true country fair with pigs and horses and cows. Talk about perfect timing! We also went to the caves, but it was a bit much for the kids. Our oldest nephew is 5 1/2, so for the young ones it was too overwhelming. We went to Cathedral Grove and they were in heaven. Running from tree to tree and being adventurous. It was also great for the adults - my Dad is in poor health and could walk all the trails and see all the great trees without getting tired out. We went to the kids fest in Parksville on Sunday. The playground there is HIGHLY recommended. It's massive!
They even had fun walking across the street and seeing the llamas. Honestly, for a bunch of little boys, the fun was endless.
