Sitting smack in the middle of a strip of almost untouched Uruguayan coastline between La Barra and Jose Ignacio, this four-bedroom home is a modern classic of Punta del Este design. Renowned Chilean architect Mathias Klotz has created a fascinating structure, which appears completely closed from the street but is completely open to the beach behind it, granting both privacy and stunning views. The uber modern, architecturally pleasing structure is made of stacked square and rectangle shapes and is comprised of a chic mixture of concrete, glass and wood.
The living room opens to both the beach and the pool deck area with sliding doors opening completely on both sides, creating a seamless indoor/outdoor feel. The pool area is absolutely stunning making it hard to tell whether it’s a boutique hotel or a personal home. A long wooden picnic table with accompanying benches as well as other plush lounge furniture are scattered throughout the patio making for a truly incredible place to unwind and relax.
The living area is enclosed by windows and the house has roughly 20 meters of unobstructed ocean views. The interior is high style with sleek, clean-lined furniture and alluring slate walls, natural wood ceilings and shiny wood floors. Interior design is by Patricia Torres, and standout features include the more than 16 feet long solid wood kitchen table which seats 10 and the elegant, clean palette of white, light grey and brown with accents of color.
In front of the house, off to the side, there is a small room with a bath, a kitchenette and a double bed where the caretakers live. This room can be reserved for an additional cost if guests prefer to use it for themselves. Another highlight of the design is the upstairs master suite, which seemingly floats on the sea. This suite has three excellent views: one over the sea in front, one towards the newly chic fishing village Jose Ignacio and another toward the sea overlooking a shipwreck. The other three bedrooms are located on the ground floor, all along the same corridor. Two bedrooms are identical and share a bathroom, and at the end of the corridor there is another suite with a king-sized bed, private bathroom and a full view of the sea and shipwreck.
