Your lovely guesthouse was the perfect honeymoon getaway ! We were very comfortable and well cared for. Despite thunder and lightening storms our first night,(so cool!). The weather in Kilauea treated us well and we enjoyed endless postcard-perfect beaches and dynamic skies and mountain views. Thanks for recommending Postcards Cafe - delicious ! Kauai Mini Golf was a nice treat and a lot of fun. We can't imagine staying at a more beautiful location - it was more than we could have asked for.
We were so glad to have stayed at Bruce and Susan's beautiful guesthouse in the green mountains yet just 10 minutes away from pristine and secluded beaches. The wraparound veranda is perfect for watching the incredible sunsets, and you have everything you need for cooking and relaxing. The beach chairs, towels and snorkel gear were a big plus. Hanalei and Kilauea are a short drive away, and Kilauea has a super farmers market. The bed was great and so quiet there for sleeping. Thanks to our hosts for making our stay so special. Truly a paradise. Until we meet again. Ahui ho!
An upcountry haven, close to everything we wanted to see, this lovely guest house was perfect for our time on Kauai. Our hosts could not have done anything better. The house was lovely, the verandas were so peaceful for quiet evenings and I slept like a rock. Other have written about all the little touches that contribute to the perfect stay, we found them all to be true. My special thanks for the hints on diving beneath waves, a skill I finally cracked on this trip. Mahalo!
My wife and I stayed here in June. The setting for this property felt immediately perfect. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and refreshed. Two amazingly gracious hosts generously provided the kind of useful information that perfectly enhanced our enjoyment of the island and aided us in our selection of activities during our stay. Ideally located close enough to many of the places we chose to visit, we enjoyed several day trips to Limahuli, Hanalei, Kealia Beach, the Napali Coast, and more. Additionally, the location proved comfortably private to enjoy quiet evenings together on the lanai. Thoughtfully designed with spectacular views, we couldn't have imagined a more perfect place to start our lives together. Thank you, Bruce and Susan for everything. Mahalo.
P.S. I would have provided this review earlier, but our computer died shortly after we arrived home.
This setting was even better than we imagined. Peaceful, gorgeous views of the mountains and ocean, birds singing in the mornings, rainbows, the occasional but brief rain shower. We were thoroughly enchanted. Bruce and Susan are wonderful hosts who made us feel very welcome. They had beach towels, snorkel gear, and beach chairs for us to use, plus all the normal amenities in the cottage. The outdoor shower is perfect after a long hike or swim in the ocean. We were a little surprised to find the kitchen didn't have a dishwasher or stove (just a hotplate), but we cooked on the outside BBQ which was fun, and washing dishes by hand wasn't a problem. We would stay here again in an instant.
Perfect! Pristine! Peaceful! What more do you need to know? Those words describe not only the island of Kauai but also the Guesthouse where we recently stayed. The Guesthouse truly felt like a home. You can relax and sleep in - enjoy the sounds of the rain that briefly come and go or knock yourself out and get up early and head out for a run or surf! The Guesthouse has sweeping views of the ocean and mountains - where no pictures do it justice at all. The stars that came out at night were like freckles in the sky. So many! The Guesthouse is a perfect location to launch many activities on the island - you want to go to the beach? Take a pick - there's dozens to choose from. You want to sightsee? Great launching pad. You want to go on a hike? Spin the wheel - dozens to choose from. You want to relax and eat in? Grocery store nearby. You want to enjoy a great restaurant one night? Several to choose from.
As for the listing, the photos accurately reflected everything. If anything, the photos don't do it enough justice! The property was extremely clean and very well maintained. I began to wonder if dust even existed in Kauai! The owners were very helpful and greeted us and made sure everything was taken care of during our stay and was very nice. There are a few items left over in the garage from previous visitors (towels, chairs, beach chairs, umbrella, cooler) which is very helpful for daily outings to the beach. We enjoyed having laundry facilities available to us. Hanalei is very close and we enjoyed the drive each time to and fro. The scenery - magnificent!
We found this to be an excellent place to stay on Kauai , close enough to everything, yet
away from the crowds. The location is lovely , as is the house. The owners were also helpful in recommending sights to see in the area and in answering our questions.
