We booked the cabin with confidence after reading all the positive reviews on VRBO site. The view is so spectacular in all directions. It was cold, rainy and cloudy during the 3 short days we were there, but we enjoyed every minutes spent in Nancy's lovely cabin. The drive to town is 13 miles away with delay because of road repair, but we did not mind the distance and the scenery made those trips so pleasant. If you are looking for a clean, spacious, convenient, quiet, secluded, romantic, scenic place to stay in Homer, this is the place. Look no further. The washer and dryer were very appreciated since we were at the end of our trip. Highly recommended! Wish we did not have to leave.
We enjoyed our stay in Homer at Walkabout Cottage. Everything was exactly as advertised and met our needs. Nancy was efficient and professional to deal with - we felt we got value and would return to stay here in a heartbeat. All the amenities were there and the view is beyond wonderful. The property is 13 miles out of town; we felt this to be a positive attribute!
The moment we drove into the driveway, we knew me have made a right choice. The cottage is secluded and the view is incredible. The best rental we have ever rented. Cottage is clean, bright, spacious and has all the amenities promised and more. Having the washer/dryer is a plus since we are on the last days of our trip. Highly recommended! Look no further if you don't mind driving 13 miles into Homer. The drive is scenic and pleasant, even in the rain...even with delay due of construction.
The cabin and the view were the best EVER!! The owner made sure that the cabin was fully stocked with EVERYTHING you can imagine - games, tools, linens, guide books, reading, batteries, sewing kits, repair kits, coloring books for kids, binoculars, even sleep masks!! This place is better than my home!!!!! Don't look further - this place is a MUST for anyone visiting Homer, Alaska.
Great view of the bay and glaciers looking back at you. Lots of windows, & just opening the blinds will heat the house. Recommend AJ's Old Town Steakhouse in town for a great dinner and better atmosphere. We will be back.
Stayed in Denali, Anchorage, and Seward and this was our favorite lodging. Fantastic views, snow capped mountains, bay, flowers and just listening to nature. Nancy emailed explicit directions prior to our departure. Property was well kept, with lots of information on what to do if anything occurred. Only down side was construction and pilot car needed to navigate East End Road. Would highly recommend this property.
We also enjoyed the Emerald Air Bear Tour with Craig and Sara, and hiking to Glacier Lake.
