Probably the best vacation we could have asked for. Secluded, clean and with wifi so you can keep in touch with whatever you need, a fantastic perk for us. Definitely going back probably this year. The only regret I have is saying how great this place is because more people will go.
The property is absolutely stunning! I was looking for something rural and private, and this, indeed, is it! My dog is aggressive towards other dogs, so I have always had to walk her on a leash. Finally, she was able to run free and enjoy nature the way that every dog should. Especially since she's a big dog, we have a hard time finding places we can go, and this was so perfect for her. We've rented a number of times from VRBO, and this was her absolute favorite to date. My dog was devastated to leave. We both loved hanging out in front of the fire, and that couch is crazy comfortable. The wi-fi connection is surprisingly good for being so rural. It could have been creepy being out there by ourselves, but the caretaker, Jerry, was incredibly helpful and on top of everything. We felt completely safe with him around, and we were both really happy to have him there. He even pet-sat my dog for me!
This is not a complaint but just a heads-up: It's a wood cabin, and it does as they do, which is make a lot of creaky wood noises. If you are a super light sleeper, bring earplugs.
What a wonderful place to unwind, relax, and laugh with our family! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Bakery & Café in Bristol is a good spot for breakfast and there are plenty of places and sights to visit in the area - if one feels compelled to leave the beautiful home and surroundings! We spent much of our time outside hiking or learning the finer points of sledding down a mile and a half road (which is closed in winter). We had no idea that sledding could be so technical! There are walking paths on the property that are fun to explore, too. And coming inside to light a fire in the huge stone fireplace to warm up and play card games was the perfect way to end our days. The cabin has everything a group of friends or families need to get away from it all but not have to rough it :) Jerry, the caretaker, is a treasure. Getting to know him enriched our holiday! We have been telling our friends to go visit this place and hope to return one day in the summer to enjoy Vermont in a different season. A bonus for us was having our dog, Chestnut, with us for the holiday - she likes the woods too! If one is looking for a relaxing hideaway, "thisisit!"
Everything was what they said it would be, and then some! The house was clean and beautiful and stocked with plenty of essentials. We were greeted by Jerry, the caretaker, who was more than helpful throughout our whole stay. All of the restaurants nearby were fairly priced and had delicious food. Definitely going back again and would highly recommend it to anybody for a relaxing getaway.
My wife and I love Vermont and were thrilled to be heading back there this past summer with our four-year old son and six-year old daughter. We began looking for cabins to rent on-line in the early spring and knew that we struck gold as soon as we saw Thisisit. Our first impressions were confirmed upon arrival in July. The cabin is spacious yet cozy and certainly well-equipped, particularly the kitchen. We spent many hours on the front porch and deck. The kids also enjoyed swimming each morning and evening. The water is crystal clear and very refreshing. They also enjoyed catching salamanders and exploring the other aquatic life. I got to fish for trout for the first time in many years and caught two really nice rainbows.
The cabin is also ideally located for those who want to explore - like us - all that central Vermont has to offer. We took a day trip down to Woodstock and the Billings Farm Museum as well as Sugarbush Farm, where we enjoyed numerous artisan cheeses. We also checked out several microbreweries including Long Trail, Drop-In, and Lost Nation, all of which were great stops. We would also recommend Lincoln Peak Winery, which is an easy drive from the cabin, as well as an afternoon in nearby Middlebury.
Stacy and her family have created an ideal getaway here. Stacy was also very helpful in giving us pertinent information prior to our arrival, and she checked in on us throughout our stay. They have a wonderful caretaker in Jerry, who told us a great deal about the area and assisted us with any need we had. He is a really great guy!
What struck me the most was the peace and quiet as well as the views, all of which were a far cry from the Philadephia rat race that we live on a daily basis. We have been renting cabins now for 15 years, and this was by far the best - so much so that we are breaking our golden rule and renting the same cabin for a second time this coming summer, but now for two weeks instead of just one. The four of us can't wait!
Can't say enough of the cabin in Lincoln.I have been there many many times in the past 30 years and it just gets better and better each and every season.
The place is clean, comfortable and private. If you want to get away from the day to day non stop crazyness. This is the place for you. From hiking in the mountains that wraps around the entire place, with nothing other than nature to be seen.To snow shoeing, cross country sking, to down hill sking @ Mad River glen SKI IT IF YOU CAN or Sugarbush just minutes away.Bring your sleds also to use on the road that is closed for the winter at the end of the driveway since it cannot be maintain due to the steep incline. Also you may just want to sit on the porch/deck and watch the stars at night.
Or just sit next to the beautiful 2 acre pond that just adds to the serenity of the place.creek is just 5 to 10 minutes from the cabin not to mention the waterfalls and swiming holes at the bottom of Lincoln rd. just befor Bristol VT.
The staff is always available to check in on your stay from the time you arrive till you depart.
The only thing you need to do is leave it all behind when you arrive.
