The surrounding:
Polchow is very convenient for excursions on the island or to the mainland, because of its central location! In Polchow you can find a fishing tavern, where you can taste the strong and indigenous Mecklenburgian kitchen and buy fresh fish in a smokehouse. During high season bread rolls can be ordered at the campground (approx. 100 m away). In Sagard and Glowe you can find several grocery stores, a pharmacy (only in Sagard) and hair dressers. Diagonally across from our house is the bicycle rental, where you can choose fitting bikes.
Cycling paths:
The cycling paths on the island are being extended. The way from the house (except for the little part in and at Polchow) to the Kap Arkona is now finished – an attractive path considering the scenery, especially at the Spyker lake. From the Kap Arkona you can reach the northern beach at Nonnewitz by the same path. The water here is always clear, but also cold, because it is situated at the open side of the lake. The water of the Bodden at the old harbour of Polchow heats up fast and is therefore always a little warmer than the Baltic Sea. Cycling tours around the island area also recommended, the paths are well tagged and scenically delightful. Drive through blooming colza fields at the end of May, next to the water – dreamlike! Just as beautiful are the many hiking trails: very recommended is the path at the steep coast from Binz to Sellin, then take the train “rasender Roland” back.
Guest quote:
The cheapest way to discover the pretty island is the Rügencard. This way the entire family has, for example, free entry for 2 hours a day at the indoor pool ‘Jasmund Therme’ with slide, sauna, whirlpool and outside pool. In the town of Bergen that is only 15- 20 km distant, every person can take 3 rides a day at the summer toboggan run. Also the visit of the national park centre Königstuhl and the admission to most of the museums is free with this card. We can only recommend the Rügencard! Many services can be obtained by it that would be too expensive otherwise. For families the card costs 94 € for 2 weeks. We requested services for about 280 €. Peter Maucher, Ochsenhausen
Guest Book:
The holiday house in Polchow is located at the entry to the town of Polchow. The lower apartment is very well equipped, the kitchen equipment is exceedingly well, the bedrooms are nicely arranged with natural wood furniture, and best of all the beds are very comfortable and clean. The appealingly arranged living and dining room has a congenial atmosphere because of its paintings. The nice thing about the apartment is the direct access to the very large terrace. The property is spacious and screened to the outside. You are in private. Polchow is not located at the Baltic Sea, but at the large Jasmunder Bodden – nice and central. The distance to the tourist attractions such as chalk ckliffs, Sassnitz, Kap Arkona, Rora, Binz etc. are not long. For example there is a beautiful cycling path from Polchow to Glowe
