ACCOMMODATIONS. Poole’s Guesthouse offers you more than a typical Vacation Rental; it is loaded with comfort and charm and similar to a Bed and Breakfast and pension. The difference between our lodging and a Bed and Breakfast, is that instead of us serving breakfast, guests are welcome to bring in groceries and cook ANY meals that they wish in the well appointed gourmet kitchen. With our KEURIG coffee machine you will have a great selection of Coffee’s and Espresso, teas, hot chocolate and alpine cider which await you each morning. We also have a new Italian GAGGIA Espresso machine. Yum! Great coffee to start you day.
PRIVATE SPACES. Your room has views of Squaw Valley’s famous mountains and winter ski slopes. We call our lodging Poole’s Guesthouse. Our “Ponderosa King” guestroom has one king-size bed and a large 6 foot octagonal window for looking out over the living room to view the mountain, the winter ski slopes or possibly the sun rising and setting. The Ponderosa Queen similar to the Ponderosa King, except that it has one queen bed. The Hideaway has a King and a Twin bed. NO Cleaning Deposits or Security Deposits and you don’t have to spend the last day of your vacation cleaning, as you have to do with a condo or vacation rental… or wonder if the owners will return your deposit. Renting all rooms, you could sleep 7 or renting the top floor of the house, you could sleep 4.

We had a very warm welcome at Poole's Guesthouse. Ann & Hernman are lovely people. The house is beatuiful and in a fantastic setting. Idela for skiing at any of the ski centre arounds Lake Tahoe - 3 muntes in car from Squaw Valley ski restort. ?The coffee is excellent and is on tap whenever you want it. Shelves provided in friday and cupboards for any provisions you want to use or cook there. The bed was extrememly comfortable in the King zied room. The shower was great, you can have as many clean towels as you want. ?We ate out one evening with Ann & Herman at Grahams and had a fantastic meal. Rated 5 stars
The guesthouse was wonderful. It had an amazing kitchen, spacious living room with amazing views. The bedrooms were simple and practical. The shared living quarters provide a great way to get to know other guests and the owners. It is located minutes from the village and the slopes. While the owners were gracious our arrive was disappointing. Herman briefly greeted us, gave a drill list of kitchen rules, seemed disinterested when we need assurance find refrigerator space, and told us rather than escort us to our room. My girlfriend and I felt at times that we were intruding. Our first night Ann told us we could head to our room at nine and watch tv there. Odd we thought but she said other two quests upstairs had early morning skiing. So we reluctantly packed up our knitting and headed downstairs like good kids. The next night she again told us we could finish our movie that ended at ten our room. I'm sorry but I'm on vacation in a shared home wanting to sit on the couch with my friend, knit , and chat quietly. So I went and spoke with both quests who assured me it was not disturbing them. At 9:30 Ann came up and flickered the lights at us at which point I told her I had spoken with the other quests. It would have been ok had they disclosed this to us we would have book elsewhere. This is a great location and perfect for those early risers and early bedtime folks. My girlfriend and I deepened our friendship, meet interesting people and enjoyed Gods beautiful squaw valley.
We stayed at Poole´s Guesthouse for two nights and were cordially received by Ann and Herman. As we arrived we felt like old friends coming home. In the evening we were invited to spent the evening at Graham´s Restaurant and had a lot of fun together. We had a wonderful room with a comfortable bed and an amazing panoramic view.
We enjoyed our stay really much and hope that others will also enjoy it there!
We have a small inn in Washington and look for small, intimate lodgings to stay at. This property was just what we hoped it would be. The property hosts were nearby to answer any questions about the area, made reservations for us at local restaurants and had great ideas on fun things to do. I think we enjoyed our long bike ride along Lake Tahoe the best. Sitting on their deck, with fresh cups of coffee in the morning was delightful... love that clean mountain air! The kitchen was well-equipped with olive oil and lots and lots of spices. One night I cooked pasta and it was fun to try some new seasonings that I hadn’t tried before. Our bedroom was charming; nicely decorated and the beds are wonderful. We only planned a 3 day weekend getaway; wish we had planned a longer stay. We will be back. Next time I want to hike up to Shirley Lake...
I had a wonderful stay at Poole's Guesthouse. First off, Ann and Herman could not have been nicer. They were both so friendly and have created a lovely place for guests to enjoy. I plan on coming back again next year.
I was a little nervous about staying somewhere where the owners would be present, but it wasn't a problem at all. Within 5 minutes of arriving I felt like I'd known Ann and Herman my whole life, it was that comfortable and easy.
Ann and Herman go the extra mile and clearly want guests to be comfortable and happy. Ann even drove one of the other guests without a car to a local grocery store to pick up food for her stay, and when their wifi was acting up Ann drove me to the village at squaw valley down the road so I could use their free wifi to check my email on my laptop!
The kitchen is fully equipped and gorgeous, and the house itself is beautiful with lots of natural light and huge windows to look at the gorgeous woods around the property. My room was upstairs and shared a bathroom with the other room across the hall. My room was immaculate, spacious and comfortable. It also had a sink which was convenient.
And no worries about sketchy street parking--Ann and Herman have a fully paved parking lot next to their garage for guest use. Appreciated that!
Friendly people, great kitchen, great guest room, convenient to all of Squaw Valley/North LT, AND to top it off a great price! Folks, it doesn't get better than this.
Thanks Ann and Herman for a great stay.
Ann was a very accommodating and gracious host. We stayed downstairs and were very comfortable. We felt like we were home and enjoyed the hospitality of our host.
