About Carole Musaracchia & Beverly Balbirsingh

Hi! We are Beverly and Carole, who are the owners at 823. We live on the first and second floors of our home. We welcome you to a comfortable stay in our studio apartment

Carole Musaracchia & Beverly Balbirsingh purchased this studio in 2005

Why Carole Musaracchia & Beverly Balbirsingh chose Brooklyn

Our home is situated in an up and coming section of Bed Sty. It is a 10 minute car drive to both the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. We enjoy the conveniences to activities in and around Brooklyn and Manhattan. We like the vibe of the neighborhood and the diverse population.

What makes this studio unique

We fell in love with this house because of the backyard space. We created a private space in our back yard to enjoy when we need to unwind. It makes us feel like we are in the country in the city. We like to entertain and having friends and family over to enjoy the space with us.

My wife and I were in Brooklyn for the A10 basketball tournament. Carol's place fit the bill to a Tee! Very comfortable space, conveniently equipped with light refreshments - coffee, cereal, fruit and snacks. Carol made the visit for us. We drove. We were off course arriving... called Carol and she guided us in. We wanted to move around and tour a bit. Carol gave us all we needed...great your ideas (Brooklyn Bridge Walk, Freedom Plaza, Chinatown, et al). We needed some public transportation and ideas for local restaurants. Carol equipped us with the scoop). Felt more like a B & B than a VRBO rental. Highly recommend and will likely return for the A10 next year! Thank you Carol. Dianne & Wayne Dementi.

Owner's Response: Thanks Dianne and Wane. It was such a pleasure hosting both of you. I'm glad I was able to help you with directions and places to eat and places to visit. I am also very happy you liked the apartment and what we offer our guests. We hoped that you were comfortable and enjoyed your stay. I want to than you again for your gorgeous chicken eggs. I never ate such fresh and colourful eggs before! That was so nice of you to think of us. Please come back anytime and I hope for a better ending to your team's season next year. Thanks again for choosing to stay with us.

Comfortable, safe home away from home!

My husband and I rented Carole and Bev's studio apartment over spring break. We were traveling with our sixteen year old daughter and her friend. The studio truly felt like a cozy little home! When we arrived the girls were hungry and eagerly munched on snacks Carole and Bev had left for us. We then ventured out and purchased metro passes. We rode the bus to the Brooklyn Bridge, ate at Gramaldi's (amazing pizza) and walked over the bridge to the World Trade Center. Each day was filled with adventure and after touring the city, it was nice to know that we had a comfortable, safe place to relax in the evening. The beds were very comfortable and I loved having a kitchen! I'm so glad we had the chance to meet Carole and Bev. They were kind, warm, friendly and helpful from the moment I began planning our last minute trip to the city! I hope we can visit again when it's warm! Thank you for a great week! ~Annie

Owner's Response: Thanks Annie! We are so happy you enjoyed our studio space (and the snacks :) ! ) and found it so comfortable. Your family was lovely. You really packed in a lot for the time you were here. I hope you got a chance to take a $2 ride on Jane's Carousel while you were so near in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Bev and I always take a ride whenever we are there, and the views of Manhattan in the glass enclosed box it is in, are spectacular. Please visit us again, hopefully when it's warmer! You are welcome back anytime. Thanks again for staying with us!

Very comfortable & nice apartment in good location

It was a very comfortable and cute apartment in a good location in Brooklyn. Furthermore it was very clean and the owners super friendly and provided a perfect customer service. The busstop is right in front of the house, which gets you down to the DeKalb Subway station. From there, if you catch the line Q or N, you are in 10 minutes at the Times Square. There is a small supermarket on the opposite side of the house. So everything is accurate like in the description.

Wifi and heating work properly. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and relatives.

The only minus point is that you can hear the noises from the street quite well, but this is New York :-D

Owner's Response: Thank you for choosing to stay at our place! Yes the apartment is very convenient to transportation and finding your way around town is very simple as we are very close to shopping in downtown Brooklyn and very close to Manhattan by public transportation. The supermarket is open until nine at night except on Sunday when they close a little earlier. There are always smaller corner groceries available in the neighborhood that stay open later as well if you need something small for in the morning. We always supply our guests with complimentary cereal and instant oatmeal in case you miss the market or you want a light snack. It was nice hosting you both, please keep us in mind for your next holiday in New York!

Carole was suh a great host. We only saw her when we checked in and out, but she gave us her number in case we needed anything or any suggestions. She had snacks and pop and water and enough keys for ever home staying. Also, she left directions for buses and subways each direction. The apartment was so cute, cozy and quiet. The neighborhood is great and it's about 10 minute drive to the subway and you can get in and out of the city very easily.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for four weeks and we had a wonderful time! The owners Carole and Beverly were incredibly warm and welcoming—we got fresh-baked banana bread on arrival, as well as plenty of snacks and sodas to get us started. When we arrived the place was clean and tidy and we were greeted warmly. We were shown how to use the wifi and the shower etc, which I appreciated very much, because it made things so much easier for us weary travellers!

Carole was always happy to help with any questions we might have, and she was full of great advice about things to do in NYC, such as Brooklyn Bridge Park, which ended up being one of my favourite places we visited on the whole trip! If we needed anything or had any questions we could email or call, they were very approachable people. (And of course Carole and Beverly live just two floors down if you need them.)

We also used Pratt car service to get to the airport when we left, at Carole's suggestion. Pratt was great and arrived right on time, prices exactly as they said. Would definitely use them again, much cheaper than a taxi!

The subway station was only a short walk away (about 10 minutes), and I always felt safe in the neighbourhood, even at night, so that was a plus! There was a community garden on Hart Street that we passed every day on our way out, and it was always full of adorable cats which occasionally followed us as we walked. As a cat lover I looked forward to seeing which cats were there each day! The neighbourhood had a nice vibe overall.

I would recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in NYC, especially for this price. I had no complaints! I hope I can visit again someday.

Owner's Response: It was certainly such a pleasure hosting you both for the four weeks you were in town. I am happy you found the neighborhood safe and easy to get to and from the transportation. Brooklyn Bridge Park is fantastic, all the free sports equipment available and the views of Manhattan from this place are the greatest! We love taking a morning bike ride and getting a pizza in this park. We support our local Pratt Car Service on Myrtle Ave, a few blocks away from our home. Our experience has been that they are fair and honest. I visited their business and make sure they know our address so that our guests don't get soaked in the price, coming from and back to the airports. It is best to ask us before you arrive what the charge should be and how to arrange a car service before you arrive, if you do not plan to take public transportation. We will check this out for you. You were both so easy and content with each other that it made it all the more pleasurable for us! Certainly, do come back, and stay with us anytime you intend to visit ( or relocate! :) !! ) in NY!
