My family has been enjoying summer vacations at Sand Lake for three generations. Last year we had the opportunity to make a long-time dream of building a home here a reality. When the home cannot be used, we would like to share it with other families so they too can make the memories and fun that keep bringing us back year after year.
This is a fantastic vacation spot! It is a home away from home. The house itself was beautiful, very clean, and tastefully decorated. Everything was in working order and very well maintained. The photos accurately depicted the house itself and its surroundings. It is an amazing place for those who look for quiet, relaxing, and peaceful vacation away from TV, computers and traffic. The lake and nature around it was breath taking. Watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee on the deck, overlooking the lake was an absolute blast! Our kids spent majority of time swimming, kayaking, jumping in the lake, and observing the turtle families that lived in the lake. It was so awesome that we were able to use the owner’s paddle boat, kayaks, and sand toys for the kids. This home exceeded our expectations on all levels- 10 out of 10! We highly recommend this home for a family trip. Great spot for fishing, on both the Sand Lake and the Manistee River.
We would like to personally thank the owner for his assistance and communication with us during our stay. Thank you Lance.

The property was easy to find and reall was a beautiful drive from SW Michigan. The view over the lake was amazing, and it was beautiful to see the mostly untouched nature around the house in the winter. Everything was brand new in the house, and it is beautifuly decorated. The house was clean, there was pleanty of sleeping space. We've already book another trip back for 2014. We also like that it was still close enought for an easy day trip to Traverse City, even with kids.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay. Thanks for booking again in 2014.
Located in the Manistee National Forest, our cottage is surrounded by beautiful Northern Michigan Wilderness. The area offers many ATV/ORV trails, river and fishing trips down the Pine River (rafting, canoeing, kayaking), the Pere Marquette or the Little Manistee. The rivers and lakes in the area are blue-ribbon class trout rivers recognized for their salmon and trout fishing. And don’t forget to visit the Famous Dublin General Store while you’re in the neighborhood!
