My high school sweetheart, now wife Beth, and I moved to North Carolina from upstate New York roughly 15 years ago. We love living in the South and fell in love with the Outer Banks. When you cross the bridge onto the island you really feel how special it is with its natural beauty, recreation, and relaxed-chill atmosphere. We vacationed in this community just one time and liked it so much we purchased this home with Beth's parents, Gary and Tracey, before we left. It’s truly at the center of it all in Corolla and we loved how spoiled we were with the convenience of being steps away from numerous amenities.
Although we have not been hosts previously, I am no stranger to assisting tenants in homes in the long-term rental space. We both work within public service career fields and I am just finishing my graduate degree in Public Administration at North Carolina State University. We both really enjoy interacting and helping people in various ways.
Our children take up much of our time, which we love. We are sports enthusiasts and love the outdoors. Most notably, we love the beach and can never get enough of the awesome sunrises and sunsets that are steps from our door here in Corolla. We are family oriented, outgoing, and would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the area, the community, or the house itself. Why they chose this property
At the "Beach Club at Whalehead" community, everything is brand new, having just been built over the last 2 years. It's also an exclusive, gated community with only 66 units, making it feel much more like being at home. Many of the owners are full time residents, as the proximity to both the beach and Currituck Sound make it a very desirable location to live.
Our location is on the north end of the Outer Banks, just before the road ends and the wild Spanish Mustang horses roam the beach. It's clearly a more relaxing atmosphere than the busy southern part of the area, where many tourists come every year. Yet, there are plenty of excellent restaurants and shops in town, as well as grocery stores within a 10 minute drive. Our home is on the East side of Route 12 and the community borders on the Corolla Village Rd., which offers our residents direct access to the beach. There are no roads to cross or long distances to travel to get to the beach. There is a sidewalk on the street and boardwalk over the dunes (with handicap access) the entire distance to the beach, with public restrooms, showers, and changing room about half way down from our community.
But for days when the ocean is rough or we don't want the beach sand, the community also offers a very large heated, salt water pool; with Cabanas for rent if you prefer.
For days we feel like being more adventurous, we can drive less than 2 miles north to pick up the 4x4 beach access road where we could drive all the way to the border of Virginia Beach if we wanted. The famous wild horses are also found here were we can walk/drive the beach on our own to search for them, or hire a tour guide to assist, which was a lot of fun.

There's nothing more satisfying than being able to walk out our door and within 5 minutes be standing on the beach watching the tantalizing sunrises or strolling through the Corolla Park next door waiting to witness that next unique sunset. Wedged between these two pillars of the day is so much to do right next door or within our community.
Our home is situated closest to the Corolla Park side of the community, making it an easy 5 minute walk to see the sunset, visit the Whalehead museum, tour the famous Corolla light house, or take the kids to the newly constructed playground in the Park. All of this is accessed by a cross walk over Route 12 from our community.
For even more convenience, our home is located directly across one of our community streets from the Corolla Light Town Center, which has numerous shops, restaurants, delis, Arcade, miniature golf, wild horse tour bookings, and more. Our home is also within walking distance (but perhaps easier with a short drive) from the historic Corolla Village where we can take in a bit of history.
When we start and finish our day, we love the comforts of modern amenities in our home, the outdoor patio off the LR, and the balcony off our master bedroom to chill out and have the opportunity to take in the rising or fading sun while reflecting on all of the activities enjoyed during the day.
We love that our home offers all of this without having to drive anywhere and so we named our place "SunRise 'n Shine" because of this unique walkability, our love for the outdoors, and our desire not to miss a minute of it!
NOTE: Currently being finished for the middle part of the 2024 season is a Taco shack with bar ("Salty Rim") on premises, along with a sizeable Clubhouse & fitness center with pickleball court (anticipated Spring '24 opening) adjoining the already open heated salt water pool with Cabanas for rent.
