1st Arrondissement Louvre Apartment Rental Photos and Description
Studio, sleeps 2, 1 BA new equipped kitchen and bathroom, comfortable murphy bed
Charming, quiet and newly renovated studio in a listed building in the biggest pedestrian area (traffic free) in the historic heart of Paris with views of the rooftops and of Tour St James.
5th floor in a 17th century building with a new elevator
Totally renovated by an architect designer, a lot of charm (beams, wooden floor, ...), air conditioning, a new equipped kitchen (washing machine and dryer, microwave, fridge, induction hot-plate, etc...), very pleasant bathroom. Fully equipped: Hifi, DVD player, internet access (Wi-Fi connection), TV,…) and everything you need for a pleasant stay. Comfortable bed with high quality mattress (150 cm x 200 cm).
The apartment was just as described. Very central and easy access to the metro and RER. Philippe answered our queries promptly and had a dependable friend available while he was away. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was a bit small, but adequate. The cupboards contained all the needed items and a few extras like salt & pepper, coffee filters, coffee, tea, etc. There were numerous books on Paris, as well as maps and guides.
We had a great stay. Thanks.

Tourists without a Car,
I stayed in the apartment with my husband for a week and the location is perfect as it is so central to everything. The metro is only a couple of minutes away, there are several supermarlets nearby along with bakeries and restaurants. We walked to the Marais area one Sunday when the rest of Paris closes and it was fantastic, amazing food and lovely boutiques.
It is located in a lively area so it isn't quiet but we never felt unsafe and it wasn't noisy unless you left the window open. I would come back again as it was such great value!

Tourists without a Car,
Pros-Good price for accomodation in Paris, owner is quick to respond to all e-mails, location is near metro and the Louvre, excellent Boulangerie nearby (Julien), A/C works well Cons- I noticed a moldy smell in the lobby of the building and in the bathroom- something to be aware of if you have allergies, shower is small if you are a taller person; studio is smaller than it appears in the pictures but a typical size for Paris studios

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your review. The price is actually very reasonable considering the quality of the central location, the equipments and the charm of the place. For me, it is important that the tenants get good value for money. The bakery "Julien" is also my favorite. Concerning the moldy smell in the lobby of the building, there was a small leak last May, this is now repaired. No smell of humidity today. It is a 17th century building, but with a massive renovation in 2011. It is like a new building (new elevator, new staircases in oak, ...), but by keeping the charm of the historical building. Regarding the moldy smell you noticed in the bathroom, I am very surprised. It is the first time that somebody notices that. There is no humidity and a very effective electrical ventilation system in the bathroom. Maybe you forgot to use it. There is of course no risk for people having allergies. Fortunately! The shower is 2m20 high (7.20 feet), so usable by everybody, even a tall person. The studio was also completely renovated in 2011 by an architect and everything was optimized for the best comfort of the tenant (custom-made furniture, well-equipped kitchen, very comfortable bedding, effective heating and air conditioning, etc...). Thank you again for your comment.
We found Philippe's studio to be a perfect base for our 10days in Paris. Everything you need is just minutes from the studio. Several metro locations at an easy walk to take you anywhere you want to go in Paris. It is on the 5th floor in a very safe building. We felt very comfortable walking in and out of the building and never had any issues with feeling unsafe in the area. We actually felt more like locals in this part of Paris. The studio has everything you could ask for, great ac, small kitchen with microwave, W/D, etc. I was a bit worried about the Murphy bed at first, but OMG, it is so comfortable and a good size. We slept very well. The studio is located in a somewhat busy neighbor, but by just closing the window, you drown out the street noise very well. We never had any issues with noise at nite while sleeping. Many good restaurants in the area, grocery stores, bakeries, etc. The only thing I will mention in my review that may be helpful to some is that if you are a plus size person, the bathroom and especially the shower stall is rather "small", so it could be difficult to maneuver around in and the elevator is also very "petite".

Tourists without a Car,
Great studio - Tremendous location - Pleasant owner
5 of 5
My wife and I (youthful 60-year-olds) just came back on April 15, 2014 from a magnificent one-week stay at this studio in Paris' 1st arrondissement. We've travelled a lot in our lives and although I've never been disappointed, this is the first time I write a review! The first thing to say about this studio is its GREAT location. You walk out the door thinking it's raining, but no it's one of Paris' oldest and impressive fountains right at your doorstep, resting in the center of a nice square, surrounded by pedestrian streets. The studio is only a few hundred yards from Centre Pompidou, impressive St-Eustache cathedral, fun Montorgueil St, bussling Rivoli St and related attractions (Louvre, Tour St-Jacques, bridges to the Ile de la Cité, Hotel de ville, great shopping, etc.). Although it is overlooking the activity below, the studio is incredibly quiet: its recently renovated windows and door are air- and sound-tight. The studio is very functional: shower never ran out of pressure or hot water; all amenities in the kitchen are modern and in perfect working order, from toaster & coffe-maker (filter) to microwave & fridge. Wifi & TV are also prefect. Dishes and utensils would be great in our own kitchen. The bed is a fold-up Murphy bed which seems to be larger than a double bed and maybe a little narrower than a queen-size bed (I slept in it - didn't measure it!). It's very very comfortable, with owner-quality bedding and pillows. Once folded up (make the bed tight), it turns into a comfortable sofa and leaves lots of living space. About living space: don't forget that you're in Paris where square meters are scarce. You may find it small when you walk in the first time, but it turns out to be just perfect after you've settled in. Safety on your mind? this is the place to be. Two exterior doors are electronically-locked, and the door to the studio is as thick as a safe door, with 4 one-inch bolts all operated with one twist of the key. I have to mention how nice and helpful the owner (Philippe) is. He lives upstairs from the studio, so he's only a knock-on-the-door away from you at all times if you need anything (batteries, advice, information, etc.). He has placed numerous tourist guides and cultural books on shelves for his tenants' use. He also prepared a binder on how everything works in the studio, plus a list of good places to go if you want to eat or buy stuff in the very near surroundings. In my book, this place gets 5 stars!

Tourists without a Car,
We loved our stay in this fabulous studio apartment. So typically Parisienne! It is light, airy and very well equipped and beautifully presented. The bed is a Murphy bed and very comfortable, and easy to operate. The location is very, very good, too. Close to absolutely everything! Our only difficulty was the wi-fi connection which was extremely hit and miss - as small business operators, this was for us, a BIG deal. We understand the owner has corrected this now. The owner lives in the building and is extremely friendly and couldn't be more helpful or accommodating - particularly in even organising us access to a neighbour's wi-fi. If I could give 4.5 stars, I would... We definitely would stay here again and recommend this property highly!
In the historic heart of Paris, in the biggest pedestrian area of the city, two steps away from many monuments, ideally situated to discover Paris by walking: only two steps from the Pompidou Center Museum, Notre Dame, the Seine River, the Louvre Museum, the Palais Royal, the Marais district, the Hotel de Ville, etc.... and at 30 seconds from metro stations: lines 1, 4, 7, 11, 14 and RER A and RER B (direct to Roissy CDG airport) that you can use to easily go everywhere through Paris.
The building is situated on a square where there is the 'Fontaine des Innocents', the only Renaissance fountain left in Paris which was designed by the sculptor and architect Jean Goujon.
