BEAUTIFUL, SERENE, CONNECTICUT RIVERFRONT

Springfield Cottage Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms + loft, 1 bath, sleeps 7

Come visit our peaceful and relaxing rental cottage with spectacular views on the banks of the Connecticut River in Springfield, Vermont. Whether it's fishing, boating, hiking, antiquing or just reading on the riverfront deck, our cozy red cottage offers the best of Vermont.

The cottage is set on 3/4's of an acre with 150 feet of riverfront on the scenic Connecticut River. As you walk down the stone steps from the car park, the cottage offers three areas to relax under a canopy of trees and surrounded by lush ferns and other plantings.

Gather together around the fire on the stone patio by the house with a picnic table, Adirondack chairs, and a fire pit. Enjoy your coffee in the morning sun on the deck that seems to be suspended over the water. Fish, swim, and tie up your boat to the 8x10 floating dock on the river's edge. The Connecticut River is navigable and there is a public boat launch 5 miles downriver.

Description: The cottage offers a warm, comfortable, and nicely decorated living room with books to read, games to play, an I-pod capable stereo, fireplace, and wood stove. In the spirit of really getting away there is no internet connection although there is adequate cell phone coverage. A small TV with DVD is also available.

In the dining area there is long counter style sit-down table with a wall of windows from which you can watch the river flow by. The kitchen features a refrigerator, microwave, two burner electric cook top, coffee pot, toaster over, and electric skillet. Please note there is no oven (but who wants to bake on vacation anyway). There is one full bath with walk-in shower.

Downstairs there is one bedroom with a double bed and closet and upstairs there is a pine-paneled loft with five beds and room for a crib. All the comfy mattresses are only 1- 3 years old so expect a good night's sleep.

Fun loving sailor who spent most of my summers growing up at our family cottage on the Connecticut River. I have a partner of 3 years and we plan to sail off into the sunset in 3-5 years on our 44 ft sailboat.

Owner purchased this cottage in 1998

I bought the cottage in 1998 from my Aunt Del. She is the daughter of my grandfather who bought the house in 1950. It has been in my family for almost 60 years and when my aunt's husband was dying of cancer they decided to sell the place. I realized there was no way I could let it leave the family so I bought it. It has been a blessing.

my wife and I had a great time here. The location is very attractive and the cabin is very comfortable.
Sitting on thw deck in the sun, watching wildlife go by on the river made for a restful but intersting experience.
If you are looking for a peaceful scenic vacation, this is for you

Enjoyable stay

  • 4 of 5
my wife and I enjoyed the house. Its a great place that sits right on the CT River. The house is filled with silverware and kitchen utensils dating back to the days of your childhood! If you're nervous about insects I would not recommend this house, however (Its not that bad but you'll definitely see small bugs). The house nicely located and close to multiple attractions in South Central VT. Its a quite place for reading a book and enjoying the cool summer air of VT.

Lazy Days on the River

  • 5 of 5
This was our second year on the river, and we've gotten quite attached. It isn't a fancy cabin, but this property has a lot of heart, and it very well situated for enjoying the river. What we love: beautiful landscaping and deck, right on the river, very woodsy. The opposite shore is undeveloped, leaving a nice vista. The outdoors here feels magical, and Ken is great to work with. The canoe is nice to use. Items that may or may not matter to different renters: intermittent road noise, no AC (last year we were there in a heat wave and it was very hot inside), the attic sleeping area is very casual / has no door, kitchen and bath are small and basic, no internet or cable TV. But ... you come here to be outside, or to sit at the kitchen window watching the river. And when you do that, you will wish you never had to leave.

Enjoy the River!

  • 4 of 5
This property has a wonderful location and is made to be enjoyed from the outside. The patio, deck, and dock areas are all beautiful and perfect places to sit or play on a warm summer day. Our kids explored the river banks for crayfish, paddled in the canoe, swam in the river (some days it is crystal clear; other days the current may be carrying less appealing flotsam), and just sat at the edge of the dock splashing their feet and waving to passing motor boats (most days we saw none, but one day had a pair that kept returning). The house itself is small with a classic Vermont country feel, and has no air conditioning, but it is quite functional and everything is very clean. The perfect way to feel like you are camping by the river without having to give up a comfy bed and useful kitchen!

Beautiful Riverside Camp

  • 5 of 5
This place is a gem--a nice peaceful spot to spend some time fishing, canoing, birdwatching, or just sitting on the deck and watching the water flow by. It was neat as a pin, near to shops in both Springfield VT and Charlestown NH (not far from the malls and restaurants in Claremont, NH), well-stocked with linen, dishes, cutlery, firewood, barbecue grill and even a canoe. I thought the place was nicer than the description on VRBO had made it out to be.

I used to live in Vermont, and I had friends and family drop by during my stay (the patio is a great place for cookouts)--they are all awaiting their invitations next summer to spend an evening in this lovely spot on a beautiful quiet stretch of the upper Connecticut River.
