2 1/2 hours from home in south Florida which alows for weekend visits.
Built this home to allow our family to experience a rural life style in a layed back enviorment next to nature and around good country folks in a setting of safety and out door enjoyment. We call this our 'sanity house'.
This rental was our first winter in Florida and our first experience with VRBO. Things could not have been better for us. We were looking for a place on a lake near Sebring that would allow dogs. The home is a very spacious, modern, octagon, two story home. The kitchen is well stocked, the TV works, the mattresses are great and there is plenty of hot water.
The second story deck was our favorite spot. The view of the lake from the deck and the living room really makes the house and the total experience something we will never forget. Getting up in the morning and walking out the bedroom door to the deck was an enjoyable daily habit. We saw more nature around the house than we ever expected. The many beautiful birds and their sounds made our stay fantastic.
The location is central to Orlando, Tampa and West Palm Beach. We had visitors from the north use all three of these airports. We had a lot of visitors because the first floor of the home is a very nice one bedroom apartment. Your visitors can have their own suite with their own view of the lake.
The home is in a neighborhood of waterfront homes. It is perfect for walks, bike riding and golf carts. (You may have to wait for the Sandhill Cranes to get out of your way.) The land across the road from the house is pasture land. We enjoyed feeding cattle and horses across the fence. We made many neighborhood friends during our stay. The property has good access to the lake for a boat or pontoon. We did a little fishing out in the lake during our stay, but caught more fish out of the lagoon behind the house than in the lake. It was so convenient to just pick up a rod and make a few casts. Some of our neighborhood friends were serious bass fishermen and they caught fish every day. If you are looking for a vacation home away from the traffic and noise of the city, this is a perfect place. There are alligators in the area, so if you take a dog, don't let it swim in the lake.
