CASA ROWE - SHORT WALK TO THE BEACH!
AFFORDABLE YEAR-ROUND RATES - $500-600 weekly (holidays excluded)
Casa Rowe is a relatively new (2007) 2 Bedroom, 2.5 Bath Townhome located in the Gardens of the Pacific, a small community in the rural beach hamlet of Playa Bejuco on Costa Rica's central Pacific coast. The Gardens is a quiet and safe residential community of a few dozen homes designed to blend in with the natural environment.
Playa Bejuco is a 2 hour drive from the San Jose airport and 25 minutes south of the tourist mecca of Jaco, through bucolic countryside with cattle grazing in lush green pastures framed by mountains and ocean. The scenic drive south on the Costanera (coast highway) leading to our townhome is enchanting, and the idyllic beauty of the region quite breathtaking.
Playa Bejuco is centrally located on the Pacific coast, an ideal home base for those wishing to explore the ecodiversity of Costa Rica, including beaches, rainforests, mountains, volcanoes, rivers, estuaries and waterfalls.
Casa Rowe is a spacious and relaxing 2 story townhome that can comfortably sleep 5-6 persons. The home is newly furnished throughout with dark and rich Costa Rican wood furniture, and includes the following:
- A fully equipped kitchen with natural wood cabinets, refrigerator, electric stove, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, electric mixer, blender, pots and pans, glasses, silverware, etc.

PLAYA BEJUCO/ GARDENS OF THE PACIFIC:
Casa Rowe is a short 5-8 minute walk to quiet and secluded Playa Bejuco, a Blue Flag beach (highest ecological rating) known for its clean water and quality surfing waves. The ocean water is warm - around 80 degrees - year round. The lengthy and wide (especially at low tide) dark sand, palm tree-lined beach stretches for miles and is usually empty, perfect for extended beach walks, bicycle rides and/or collecting shells and driftwood, especially at sunrise or sunset.
The outside of our Gardens of the Pacific townhome is nicely landscaped and kept beautiful by the friendly community gardeners. Yard foliage includes a large and shady jacaranda tree, palms, crotons, allamandas, heliconias, hibiscus and other flowering plants. The yard and adjacent green space attract a variety of birds (including hummingbirds) and butterflies, and you awaken each morning to the sounds of exotic birdsong. The trees in the community are frequented regularly by large multicolored parrots (scarlet macaws) and, occasionally, troupes of monkeys.
Gardens of the Pacific has a large tropically landscaped green space/ BBQ/ pool area in the quiet rear portion of the community. The space includes a covered entertainment area, BBQ grill, community pool (w/ child pool), bathroom and outdoor shower. It is an ideal setting for family/group gatherings.
Playa Bejuco is a tiny rural coastal village. There is a bodega (mini-mart) located steps from our townhome, and two beach hotel/restaurants a short walking distance down a road leading to the ocean. The restaurants offer excellent food at reasonable prices and are nice places to enjoy drinks at sunset.
Playa Bejuco offers vacationers to Costa Rica the best of both worlds, a beautiful rural setting located a bit off the conventional tourist track, yet with easy access to a variety of attractions and activities. For example, the lively town of Jaco, with its nightlife, shops and restaurants, is located less than 1/2 hour from our townhome, yet seems worlds removed. At the end of the day, it is a pleasure to retreat to the solace and quietude of Playa Bejuco.
Costa Rica offers much in the way of adventure and ecotourism, with opportunities for surfing, fishing, ziplining, rainforest canopy tours, ATV rentals, horseback riding, golfing, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, scuba diving, birdwatching, hiking to waterfalls, and wildlife viewing.
Costa Rica is a wonderful place to visit and explore. We hope you choose our comfortable and affordably priced family vacation townhome as a home base to experience some of the wonders this unique country has to offer.

Our family, including three children, is from Florida. I am a college professor and my wife is a high school counselor. Once retired, we plan to spend more time in our Costa Rican townhome. In the meantime, we would like to share our home with others.
The Owner purchased this townhome in 2007
We first visited Costa Rica in the early 2000s on a surfing trip, and fell in love with the country. Soon thereafter, we began searching for a family vacation home near the Pacific ocean. After researching the real estate market, and making a few more trips to Costa Rica, we settled on the Playa Bejuco/Esterillos area, located between Jaco and Manuel Antonio on the central Pacific coast. Playa Bejuco provides us the best of both worlds, a beautiful and tranquil rural setting near the ocean, yet close enough to 'civilization' to suit our needs.
The main attraction of our property is its close proximity to the Pacific Ocean, a short 5-8 minute walk down the road in front of our townhome. Our family loves to surf, and some of the most consistent waves in Costa Rica are found nearby.
Playa Bejuco is a bit off the conventional tourist track and, as a result, is quiet, peaceful and uncrowded. However, there are larger towns like Jaco and Parrita nearby, as well as a beautiful national park in Manuel Antonio.
In addition to the natural beauty of the area and its nice waves, it is the gentle laid back vibe of the Costa Rican culture and people that attracts us to the country.
I spent three weeks in Costa Rica this summer. Casa Rowe was my home for the entire stay. My main reason for this trip, was surf, which I found plenty of in Playa Bejuco and nearby areas. When a big south swell created too big of surf for me in Bejuco, I was able to find nearby spots with nice, clean, more manageable 3-6' waves...just a quick drive away. The house was great, nicely furnished, a/c, super comfortable (even the beds), had absolutely everything I needed, including wi-fi which was a must to keep up with my work, and a flat screen tv with cable, which although not necessary for me, did end up being pretty nice. Nice neighborhood, friendly, and safe. The Delfin and Hotel Bejuco, right down the road, have great food- nice spots to get a couple beers as well. I've been making trips to costa rica for the past 7 years, and realize that the central pacific is my favorite place to stay because of the numerous nearby accesible surf spots. I was in great position for this at Casa Rowe, really enjoyed my stay, and am definitely returning.
This is a great location esp if you rent a car to explore the area. There is not much to do besides bask in the sun on the beautiful beach that is within walking distance. We were advised to rent a 4WD but found that in reality, we didn't need it. The neighborhood is quiet with lovely residents, esp the property managers Greg and Arlene, who were endlessly helpful. They arranged a shuttle to pick us up at the SJ airport. It was a better rate than anything we'd found on the internet. Randall Ramirez was our driver. He was prompt, reliable, helpful, and only charged us $120 (we added a 10% tip that is not required). He speaks English VERY well. He allowed us to stop at a fruit stand, grocery store, and river to watch the crocodiles on our way to the casa. He waited patiently while we grocery shopped in Jaco. We were able to stock up for the week. We were glad we bought all we needed because the casa is only stocked with a few spices. Be aware that food is expensive in Costa Rica, but we still saved a lot by making meals at the casa most days. We spent $160 and had more than enough groceries for 2 people for a week.
Owner Bill always answered our emailed questions promptly and thoroughly. Nice guy.
We were never able to access internet from the house. Instead we walked 4 minutes to the hotel Bejuco where they graciously allowed us to use their wifi for free. The absolute best meal we had was at Restaurant Los Almendros in the Esterillo Oeste (10 mins drive).
We rented our car from Budget in Jaco and got a great deal ($390 for 1 week including a ride from Jaco to Bejuco and returning the car in San Jose--a different location than our pick up). This was a much better deal than Alamo.
I had packed a huge assortment of bug sprays, which we never needed. I couldn't believe how efficient the mosquitoe eating bats were in this country. I'm usually a magnet for mosquitoes.
We highly rec a trip to Manuel Antonio park on a weekday (Tues-Fri) when it's less crowded and hiring a professional guide. He found all kinds of things we never would have seen, and he brought a high powered magnifier so we could see the creatures in great detail--so worth the money ($20/pp for the guide).
We loved the waterfall hike rec by Bill--beautiful, fresh water. The weather in Bejuco was hot (low to mid 90's) with a few gorgeous, dramatic thunder and rain storms
