NEW DESIGNED VILLA IN PARADISE, QUIET BEACH & BLUE WATER VIEWS

Turtle Beach Villa Rental Photos and Description

Villa, 3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

LOCATION: Turtle Beach, St. Kitts (St. Christophers), Caribbean. Turtle Beach is a 15-20 minute drive from the airport on a beautiful drive south over the mountains of the South East Peninsula, with Atlantic ocean on the left and the Caribbean Ocean on the right.

KEYWORDS: Villa, Ocean View, Infinity edge pool, a/c, quiet, 3 bedrooms, gourmet kitchen, spectacular views, 5-star feedback ratings.

ACCOMMODATIONS: Our new, architecturally-designed home is currently un-named and at one time we were jokingly thinking of naming it “The Black Hole” since we have found ourselves unable to leave the veranda from breakfast time until mid-afternoon. Some days we never left! We’d be reading, talking, eating, sleeping and playing games. The talking part was invariably about what we should do that morning for our activity. Sometimes we would walk the 100 yards down the hill to Turtle Beach and go snorkeling on the reef. If we went out to the left of the reef, we would invariably see two to three green turtles (most likely the reason this quiet bay got its name). If we felt really energetic, we’d jump in the car and drive 5 minutes to Sandy Bank beach and go boogie-boarding.

Our home is situated on a hill above Turtle Beach, on the southernmost tip of St. Kitts, looking across the 2 mile ocean Narrows to Nevis and the 3,000’ Mt. Nevis. The house is angled so it catches the tropical breezes just right. The only sounds one falls to sleep or awakens to are the sounds of nature. We have a two-car parking area off the hill. The wrought iron gates leads you down to the rear open courtyard of tiles, white rounded stone, plantings and an outdoor shower area.

MAIN FLOOR: From the rear courtyard, the French doors open up to the living room area, taking your eyes directly to the 18’ wide glass Nanadoor that opens up to the veranda and the breathtaking views of Mt. Nevis across the Caribbean waters.

Contiguous to the right of the living room is the fully equipped gourmet kitchen. The gas stove/electric oven is located in a center island looking out through another set of French glass doors to the infinity edge pool and across the blue waters to Nevis. Looking back into the kitchen from the pool are five teak high-stools facing the kitchen bar. The underside of the bar is faced with local natural stone as is the wall around the window sink that looks into the rear courtyard. All stonework accented throughout our home and the walls outside were completed by Sandy Point, the islands premier stone mason. The laundry and powder room are also on this floor. A TV/music center joins the living area with the kitchen (bring your i-Pods). The remaining accents of quartz counter tops, Florida porcelain tile (throughout our home), teak furniture by Kingly-Bate and vaulted ceilings with three fans complete the main living area.

The five-panel glass Nanadoor slides open in concertina fashion to the left, leaving an expanse of indoor/outdoor living between living room, veranda and sun deck (this is our black hole I described earlier). Several lounge chairs and other seating areas are located on the veranda. We always move our 6-8 person teak dining table and chairs outside for daytime games, reading, and evening dinners under the stars. We used stainless steel railings around the veranda and pool to minimize disruption to the eyes as you take in the views.

The master bedroom has a queen bed, A/C, vaulted ceilings and fan, and en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower/window looking out to Nevis. The master bedroom on this floor with its own balcony, and the guest bedrooms down stairs, all have this wonderful view. A large walk-in closet off the master bedroom stores sheets, towels and supplies while still giving space for clothing and suitcases, etc.

DOWNSTAIRS: Two guest bedrooms have either a queen or two extra-long twins beds (can convert to one King) and share a bathroom and walk-in shower. Both have A/C, ceiling fans. Guests can exit the downstairs hallway to the quiet veranda and take in the views by the landscaped garden.

Hurricane shutters are on all windows for both security when our home is vacated, but also for those who can’t abide to be woken up by the splendor of sunrise! Like many islands, power and water outages are not unheard of, so we have equipped our home with a liquid propane generator large enough to automatically cope with all electrical house needs. Mains water comes to the house through an 800gal cistern, so even with a water break, the house supply should not be uninterrupted. For our peace-of-mind, and yours, we have a 24/7 external video surveillance camera system.

The villa is maintained beautifully by an on-island Property Manager (also our Project Manager for construction) who knows the building very well. He can be contacted in the rare event you have any building issues. A gardener and pool boy will service the property before your arrival as will our wonderful housekeeper, who will provide cleaning and laundry service before your arrival. Additional services can be arranged directly through the building manager.

Cathy comes from the New England area in America and Nick was born in England and came over to America in the early 80s. They both work in the Biotechnology field which is where they met in the mid 90s and have been happily married, and avid travelers ever since.

Nick Guise purchased this villa in 2011

We first visited St. Kitts with friends in 2001 and stayed at the Reggae Bar & Grill on Turtle Beach which closed at 6pm every night, leaving us upstairs in the apartment to the sounds of the ocean waves, the rustle of palm leaves and other nature-tunes that the tropical breeze brought. Of the 2-3,000 acres of land of the South East Peninsula, we were likely part of a night population of 15-20 people! A few years later, our friends built at Turtle Beach and for a number of years we benefitted by their hospitality. We realized after our first visit that, just like you see on the glossy pages of travel magazines, we had found “our” paradise, and made our own future plans to build.

We love to come here with no schedule in mind; we have enough of those in our work. If you need a place to kick back and relax, indulging yourself in doing nothing, or hiking, diving and being active, then our home and island will quickly get you in the mood. There are 3 excellent beach restaurants within 3-5 minutes drive, each offering a little different style/quality of food. Sugar cane used to be the main industry of St. Kitts and its only been in the last 5-6 years that tourism has really started. So St. Kitts is not like most of the other well established, highly populated Caribbean islands. There is still plenty of serene, unspoilt areas to visit, as well as night life along the beaches of Frigate Bay and the hotel areas. 1/2 hour ferry rides get you over to Nevis to explore by bike, taxi or car.

My family and I spent a week as this fantastic villa which took our breath away the moment we stepped on the property and enjoyed the fantastic views. The home lives up to the comments, reviews and images already posted by the owner and other visitors.
The day after we arrived the only thing we managed to motivate ourselves to do was go grocery shopping :) Monday through Thursday mornings we dove with ProDivers in Basseterre and then returned promptly to the house for lunch, reading, sun bathing to reheat our cores, and naps of course!

The house is easy to find and the drive back and forth to Basseterre and frigate bay full of photo opportunities. Its a solid 30 minutes each way though so be prepared for some driving - btw they drive on the left! Oh .. and a jeep or something with decent suspension is advised as there are some pretty bumpy roads on the island.

We did cook most of our meals and the kitchen is superb and has everything you need. Groceries and selection at the stores varied and prices were a bit higher than expected.

Earlier this month we planned a last minute trip to St. Kitts. Fortunately the Guises were able to accommodate us at #6 Turtle Beach. We looked at several places on line but this one looked spacious and modern and it was even better than pictured. The design, construction, decor and attention to detail in this villa is exceptional and OH THE VIEW! All rooms look out to this amazing view of Nevis and the Atlantic on one side and the Caribbean on the other. The landscape all around is lush and colorful and you can watch the monkeys frolic on the neighbor’s rooftop in the morning. Nick Guise was a pleasure to deal with making the whole process very simple. I am so glad he made arrangements for us to be picked up by the property manager at the airport. It is about a 20 minute drive to Turtle Beach. Signage is not great along the route and the roads leading to the villa are dirt roads and full of potholes. But once you arrive at #6 you will have forgotten how challenging the roads are. I do recommend renting a SUV.

We had only five full days there and we wanted to see as much of St. Kitts and Nevis as possible These are some of the things we liked best besides the house and the view:
* 1/2 Day Catamaran Snorkel Trip with Blue Water Safaris
* Snorkel and lunch at Shipwreck Beach (great gyros on Saturday) and Lion's Beach.
* Day Trip around St. Kitts
Must climb to the top of Brimstone Hill Fortress for a spectacular view of the island.
Romney Manor/Caribelle Batik for beautifully hand-crafted items
Otteley's Plantation for lunch
Kate Spencer Studio in Willet's Bay. Kate Spencer is a charming woman and her studio and
gardens are beautiful. You will see her artwork at different locations around the island. (Call
for appointment)
* Reggae Beach Bar is the place to be for dinner on Friday night. (Make a reservation)
* The Pavilion is a beautiful place to see. Dinner was good but expensive.
* Take the ferry to Nevis for the day. Contact Greg the owner of Funky Monkey to
reserve a Jeep. He will have someone meet you at the ferry and set you off on a
great trip around the island.
Golden Rock is a beautiful estate and garden with a lovely restaurant for lunch
Nisbet Plantation is also a lovely estate and a great place to stop for a drink by the sea.
Before you hop back on the ferry stop by the Yachtsman Grill for the best pizza on either island

Great Week

Owner's Response: We like to our guests had some fortitude: they pulled themselves out of the "black hole" and went exploring around both St. Kitts and Nevis an and a great time by the sounds of it. We appreciate their feedback for future guests who may be wondering "what to do today".

Turtle Cove or Manta Ray Beach?

We spent two lovely weeks at this house in early June. The top floor of the house is spectacular with the accordion sliding doors that open all the way, allowing for an indoor/outdoor living experience with refreshing breezes. We had no problems with any bugs the whole two weeks we were there. The garden attracts numerous wee birds and lizards for you to enjoy. The 5 minutes walk down to the cove has spectacular snorkeling and we saw Rays every time we went as well large schools of fish. There is spectacular snorkeling throughout the island and it is well worth exploring. We've been renting vacation houses for about 10 years and this is one of the better equipped houses we've rented. The cell phones were very handy to have, for those who like to cook (as we do), the kitchen is very, very well equipped. There are packs of monkeys down the road near the turn off to the beach, keep your eyes open! The Guises are very responsive and quick to reply to any questions during the booking process. The only hiccup was when we landed (but has nothing to do with the rental.) I would recommend requesting the cell phone number of the property manager if you are getting picked up. Our flight happened to land early and we were stuck at the airport for an hour and a half. After that smooth sailing. With the trade winds and views from the porch, I would tend to agree with the "black hole" concept!

The perfect place to relax.

The villa is beautifully designed, well maintained and when you swing open the folding doors there is a breath taking view over Turtle Beach and Nevis. However, you must have a vehicle. During the day everything is happening over at Cockleshell Bay but when the sun goes down that is it. The Beach House restaurant has closed down and the developer is actually removing small bungalows from Turtle Beach so it is a bit quiet now. No taxis. The Spice Mill is a short drive away and the Pavilion a bit further, both excellent restaurants, albeit not cheap. After that it is a 20 minute drive up the peninsula, on very steep, winding, unlit, potholed roads to get to Frigate Bay, where Marshall's is another excellent restaurant. For teenagers there is jet skiing, zip Lines ( top quality operation ), snorkelling etc; not to mention spotting the monkey's and mongoose. A day trip to Nevis shouldn't be missed. With the proviso that you have to be willing to get out and about I would highly recommend the villa for a luxury holiday.

Hands down-THE BEST!

Our family stayed in this property for one heavenly week this summer! The house was clean and tastefully decorated. The house layout made eating and relaxing a tourist-experience, as we looked out over the ocean no matter where we were in the home. Our kids loved the playing in the pool and sorting their shells on the patio. The large, glass"Nana door" made the openess and ocean breeze a welcome part of the stay. We loved this house so much that we have actually looked into purchasing a house in this location! (Although we have yet to find something to compare to the Guise's home). The air conditioning in the bedrooms was a big bonus as were all the kitchen pots/pans etc. It was wonderful to have the option to eat-in. (although groceries on the island aren't cheap!) We were sad to discover that the Beach House resaurant below is no longer open except for special pre-booked events. However, there were plenty of other great places to eat. The nearby Spice Mill Restaurant was beautiful and the female manager was absolutley the most kind and warm person around! We loved renting jet skiis on the beach nearby and enjoyed the welcome and warmth of the people of St. Kitts. The road to Turtle beach was under construction when we arrived, but in the course of a week alone it had improved a lot! We would definatley recommend renting an SUV if you are going to be doing a lot of driving. We would rent this house again in a heartbeat! The privacy and beaches at this end of the island make it hands down the best place to be! The Guises have definately out-done themselves in providing all you need (even 2 cell phones for use while on the island)! Loved it!
