About this property

Charming Vermont Retreat with Mountain Views and Ski Proximity. Pet-Friendly!

Welcome to your private 10 acre, idyllic Vermont retreat! Nestled near the quaint town of Arlington (Norman Rockwell's home), our charming property offers the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern convenience. With 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, there is ample room for family gatherings or group getaways. First time available for the 2024 winter, summer, and Fall seasons.

Step inside and be greeted by the warmth of original beams throughout the house. Gather around the working pellet stove in the cozy living room, equipped with a new flat-screen TV. Nearby is a fully functioning kitchen and adjoining dining area that comfortably sits eight people. There are two bedrooms and two full bathrooms on the first floor and three additional bedrooms upstairs. There is also fast Wi-Fi!

From the house and throughout property, you can see beautiful views of Spruce Mountain and its neighbor, Ball Mountain. Adjacent to the main residence are the old stables, once home to Morgan horses! The house is pet-friendly, and there is a fenced-in backyard that provides a secure space for your furry friends to roam and play freely.

For winter sports enthusiasts, the house is under an hour from five major Vermont ski resorts - 20 min to Bromley, 35 min to Stratton and Magic Mountain, 50 min to Okemo and Mt Snow. There are also plenty of cross-country ski trails nearby. The house also has a large mudroom to store your winter gear.

In addition to its proximity to ski resorts, the property is conveniently situated 10 minutes from the charming town of Manchester and 15 minutes from Bennington. Explore local shops, dine in quaint restaurants, and immerse yourself in some of the rich historical offerings.

Please let us know if you have any questions and we hope you enjoy your stay! (Note: two night minimum/three night minimum for holiday weekends. Long stays welcome--please inquire).

Beautiful house, convenient location, great host
My wife, myself and a friend loved our stay with our three dogs. The house has plenty of room and beautiful charm. It’s warm and inviting. The location is very convenient. We skied and enjoyed Stratton, just about a half hour away. Property is large and private. Host was responsive and helpful. We’d highly recommend staying here and wouldn’t hesitate to come back.

Southern VT ski trip
Great property!!!! Very accommodating lodging for 5 guys on a ski trip. We all had our own bedroom which allowed each of us our privacy. We will be sure to stay again in the future.

About the host

Hosted by Scott Carneal

Host profile image
Katharine and Scott Carneal have been teaching for over 40 years. They raised three children in Bennington County and are thrilled to be able to share their dream home with families and friends (and their children and pets).

Why they chose this property

The perfect location between Manchester and Bennington and just a quick drive to Equinox Mountain and Inn, Battenkill River, Bromley, and Stratton. Wonderful dirt roads for long (or short) leisurely walks with magnificent mountain views

What makes this property unique

Rustic and yet modern. Classic Vermont farmhouse called Cobble Hill Farm (Morgan Horse Farm for 40 years). Setup for families and pets. House is very nice but not filled with breakable antiques.
