GORGEOUS MOUNTAINTOP 5 ACRE HOME IN THE 'CRADLE OF THE CATSKILLS'.

Along with another couple and their kids, my wife and I stayed at Bruce and Valerie's home with our children as well. We wanted to go for the peak fall leaves. And to say the least, we were not disappointed! The home is surrounded by panoramic mountain views, and the leaves in the distance, seemed to glow from the mountainside. Adding to that, was the hot tub, which overlooked the mountains to the east. Not only did we treat ourselves to a glorious sunrise. but also used the hot tub at night -- after the kids were asleep, warmed by the water (and maybe a bit too much wine!), and gazing up at the stars in the nightsky.

The house itself is beautiful, rich wood, and somehow both cozy and spacious at the same time. I agree with one review which said the the photos, which are very good, don't really to the place justice, as it is impossible to capture the true peaceful mood of the house.

Both Bruce and Valerie were very helpful in suggesting places to go and things to do while we were there. We went canoeing one morning, and a hike, that began just on the edge of town on another. We made good use of the mountain bikes as well, stopping at a nearby farm stand to buy fresh eggs and fruit.

There is also plenty of property to explore, and the kids especially had a great time playing hide and seek in the woods!

If you want to have a relaxing time in this part of the world, I can think of no better place than this in which to do it!!! Hopefully, we can return soon.

We had a very relaxing stay. Awesome views on the decks. Nice big lawn to let the kids romp on. The gas grill was useful (a very nice one at that) to cook the fantastic food from the nearby farmer's markets.

The house set up is done in a way that you never feel on top of each other. When it did rain, the kids had ping pong matches to keep them busy. Nice stereo and TV to watch movies too.

Close enough to town that if you need anything, it's just a short trip by car. Bruce was helpful with info about the area. The house was also very clean and well kept.

We just spent an incredible week at Bruce and Valerie's home in Margaretville! Such a feeling of space and solitude. We came with our two young children, who loved it! Having two young children of their own, Bruce and Valerie provided games, a wonderful child's drum set, a scooter, ping pong table -- even a Slip n' Slide!

So much to do...biking, hiking, the Farmer's Market (we followed Bruce's suggestion and got a fresh chicken, and probably the best pesto we've ever tasted) and cooked it on the grill, the nearby Bellayre Lake (Lifeguarded, which is perfect for children!). But through it all, it was nice to come "home" to the house and recover in peace from the daily excitement.

Bruce and Valerie were so helpful in suggesting places to go and things to do. This was, by far, the nicest family vacation we've ever had. We didn't want to leave!!!
