This quaint little cottage is exactly what my husband and I neesed! It was so cozy and welcoming, with everything we needed. The river is right up the street literally. It was so beautiful. While flyfishing one evening we heard a huge splash, when we looked over it was a doe with two fawn in the river as the sun was setting. Absolutely beautiful!! A great way to enjoy the peace and quiet along with the splendors of nature. We are bringing the kids and the dog next time and making the Black Bear Cabin an annual thing!
We were pleasantly surprised by the rustic charm of the cabin. It was very clean and nicely decorated. Great canoeing and fishing was just across the road. Easy access to town for supplies.Campfires every night under a star filled sky. Cabin was very well stocked with all the comforts of home. We had a great time!
We truly enjoyed our stay at the Black Bear Cabin!! So peaceful and relaxing! The owner has made sure that the cabin has everything needed to make it a comfortable and stress-free vacation home. We loved that it felt like you were away from it all, but not too far away from the amenities that Grayling and surrounding cities have to offer.
We enjoyed our canoe trips along the Ausable River and our camp fires in the evenings! The owner was fantastic to work with and provided so much information about the cabin and area amenities before our arrival. Love that! We will definitely recommend this cabin to others!
This little cabin was exactly what we were looking for! When looking into places to stay for our Trout fishing trip this year, location was the most important thing. This cabin is located near the Thendara access to the Ausable holy waters. It is almost centrally located between the Old Ausable fly shop and Gates Fly shop/Lodge. We could walk right into wadable water and get to it with very little effort..
The cabin itself is exactly that. You have to understand it is not the Ritz Carlton, It is a log cabin. With that being said, it is very well taken care of and extremely clean. There are 2 bedrooms with queen beds and a pull out couch so there was plenty of room for us. The cabin itself has all the amenities that you would need. spices, towels, pots, pans, running water, shower and everything else that you would have at your house. It has a flat screen tv (which we did not even turn on the 3 days we were there), a new charcoal grill and a nice bonfire area as well. Maureen has fire wood provided there for $4/ arm full which was very convenient considering we had bonfires every night.
Maureen (the owner) provides a beautiful welcome package with details about the surrounding areas and attractions. I felt like I already knew the area before we even arrived. I get the impression from her that this isn't just a business for her and that she genuinely wants you to enjoy your time at her property.
Everyone in our group had a blast and are already talking about coming back to the cabin next year:)
We had a great two night stay during the prime Brown Drake hatch. The cabin has everything needed for a very relaxing vacation or weekend getaway. It is perfectly located for some of the best fly fishing in the state. A short drive from town for your entertainment needs. The wood stove was perfect at making the cabin warm and cozy on a cool evening. The owner Maureen is a new friend after working with her to arrange our stay. She made everything very easy. We can't wait until our next stay.
We had such a nice time! So quiet and peaceful. The river was just beautiful. The cabin was perfect and stocked beyond our expectations. Thank you so much, Maureen. I don't think I could have ever worked with such a great and easy-going person.
