Glenwood Springs Cabin Rental Photos and Description

OR Horseback ride with us, galloping across the fields, or introduce your child to our miniature horses!! Terry was born to the ranch and this life. He and I run this Ranch as a couple, and make a good team..but without our Jax, Washa Walker, Castle Pines Penelope, and the Grande Dam, Foxy....and the rest of the critters, we would be pretty boring.

Terry and Mary purchased this cabin in 1898

our cabin is historical and special. A glimpse of real ranch life is fascinating to others, we have found. Please relax and unwind up here, we welcome you.

We are so close to the hot springs, or our local's hot pots, as we call them, and really love the privacy and the solitude that we can offer to the world. we are minutes away from world class rock climbing as well, and have had climbers as far away as germany stay here for weeks. Please let us show you the elk pen cabin as well as this one, under construction ...more to come

GOOD TIMES!

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed the stay at the cabin. The girls especially liked all animals. What a variety! We do miss Foxy the most. She was quite the hostess. Stayed with us most of the time, chased away cows, played great with our rat terrier, and followed the girls all over the ranch. So fun!

QUIET AND PEACEFUL GETAWAY FROM METRO AND CITY!

  • 5 of 5
My family and I visited porter ranch over Labor Day weekend! It was a total blast! While visiting downtown, relaxing in the hot springs, and visiting adventure park, we were provided an excellent home. There was endless elk bratwurst and unlimited eggs that came right from Mary’s chicken pen! It was beautiful views of the cows, elk and of course the Glenwood Mountains. I really enjoyed riding Mary’s horses and collecting eggs from the chickens. Waking up to the sound of a cow’s moo, an elk’s whine, and the squawk of chickens, gave me the sense of how a real cowgirl lived, Thank you for letting us stay at your Porter Ranch and I can’t wait to visit your place again!

GREAT PLACE TO GET AWAY

  • 5 of 5
We called up Mary and Terry hoping to get away for a short weekend and couldn't have been happier with our stay. The cabin is on a quiet ranch a bit outside of Glenwood Springs but close enough to do anything you want in the area.

Their domestic elk herd is literally right behind you and you can hear them locking antlers in the evening and making the occasional bugle call.

The cabin was clean, spacious and exactly what we envisioned when seeing the photos. It was a bit hot in the evenings but the cabin had fans that helped cool the place down quickly. The cabin also had anything we needed including delicious farm-fresh eggs and delicious elk sausages - on the house.

All in all, a perfect little getaway.

QUIET BEAUTY

  • 5 of 5
We had an absolutely wonderful time on Porter Ranch. The vistas on our horseback ride were magnificent; the farm fresh eggs and elk sausage made for wonderful breakfasts; the peace, quiet, and tranquility were perfect! Mary and Terry are wonderful hosts. It is obvious that they love their ranch and their life there. By all means go on a horseback ride with Mary. She is incredibly patient and accommodating even for novices. There are few places where you can have an elk herd right outside your window, friendly horses who greet you each evening, and the sound of hens laying your breakfast just beyond your door. While the ranch is, as one would expect, not on the beaten path, a grocery store, gas station, and liquor store are right at your exit from I-70. Fishing guides complete with all the gear you need are nearby. All in all, our stay at Porter Ranch was a wonderful, great adventure!

LOVED PORTER RANCH

  • 5 of 5
Great spot to get away from the highway noise and spend quite nights away from all the tourists. Nice house with plenty of land to wonder around during the day. Grocery store and gas station nearby, with Glenwood Springs just a little bit further down the road. Recommend taking a horseback ride one morning through some beautiful country. Makes you feel like a cowboy back in the old west.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVED IT.

  • 5 of 5
We had a fantastic time. The cabin is nicely appointed, clean and well maintained (although the stairs may not be super safe if you have young ones). New travel size sundries would have been nice (there was a used bar of soap in the bathroom), but this wasn't a huge deal since we had everything we needed and there is a City Market in town just off the exit if you forgot anything.

It was a great quiet get-away for the weekend, and so nice that we were able to bring our dog. It's perfect if you want to lounge around and read a book or maybe go for a mountain bike ride or horseback riding. It's not a place to get any work done, since there is no cell service or wi-fi--which is difficult for a workaholic like my husband and me, but we managed. Otherwise, Glenwood isn't super close, but is just close enough for dinner every night if you don't feel like cooking (which we didn't). But--if we stayed longer that 2 days we probably would have and would have had everything we needed. Since there was no cell service or wi-fi, a list of "Things to Do" would have been nice, we came a little unprepared in that regard.

It was a little pricey for 2, but would be a great deal for 4-6. I'd definitely like to return for a long weekend with the girls or another weekend with my husband and pup.

Mary and Terry are great people and were so accommodating...they even let me take some fresh eggs to go when we left. All in all a relaxing and unforgettable weekend.

Whitewater Rafting and Horseback Riding for the ultimate day in the Mountains, we call it the paddle and saddle program, call us to see the discounts if you do both !!!

ALSO, we enjoy snow shoeing in the winter, with plenty of hills to climb or sled down off of. We are the only place on the earth where you stay right next to our elk herd. Listen to the whistles and bugles in the fall, and watch our speckled babies in the spring. Our birds and wildlife are protected here on the Ranch, and we have many exotic species that stop over here for safety and solitude. Do it yourself, ...nothing to chirp or whistle artificially. ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. Unwind and enjoy our cabins. ..another one being built on top of our world. complete with yoga glassed in studio. so cool.
