Appalachia at its best. A mountain cabin re-created within the basement (first floor, ground level) of my home for your pleasure. Private entrance(s), covered deck/patio, open deck, great view, very private setting.
The location has an East-West orientation, with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Great place to sit, relax, and enjoy your favorite beverage.
The cabin is fully self contained. It has its own kitchen, bath with shower (no tub), and a small living/dining area. One bedroom with a king size bed.
Centrally located between I-40 and I-26, on Busbee Mountain, the property borders the Biltmore Estate and blends in with the Blue Ridge Parkway at an elevation of 3,346 feet.
Well behaved pets are more than welcome!
I have had the cabin off line since August making repairs and doing some remodel. The cabin is open for business as of December 10, 2014. Updated photos have been added.

I am retired. I enjoy my two cats, Olly and Geo.
I retired from the Community College System and enjoy meeting people, thus the rental.
I enjoy traveling and finding neat places. I hope I have created one here.
George Stanley purchased this apartment in 2007
I had a half -finished basement when I purchased the home, which I separated from the house upstairs. I envisioned a downstairs cabin so others could enjoy the beautiful mountains as I do.
Living on a rural mountain and bordering the Biltmore Estate Property, there is an abundance of wildlife - turkey, deer, pheasants, bear, raccoons, generally all sorts of wildlife. I have pictures of bear in the yard and in close-by trees.
At an elevation of 3,346 feet, the cabin overlooks a huge valley. The valley is often filled with fog, creating a beautiful sunrise at eye-level.
A beautiful, quiet and quaint cabin-like apartment with great views and a relaxing atmosphere. Up in the mountains but still close enough to enjoy Asheville. Our host was gracious and available. We plan to be back when the weather is warmer!
My companion and I loved this place. Even though the pictures do a pretty good job at showing what to expect we really weren't ready to how spectacular and cozy a place this was. George was very helpful and a great host, very accommodating. We wouldn't think it twice to rent this cabin again if we come back to Asheville and it's still available for rent.
My husband and I were beyond pleased with this cabin! It was perfect for just the two of us! The owner has really thought of everything... Even cranked the fire up for us when the temp that morning was a whopping 4 degrees! The view really is spectacular! Even though it was EXTREMELY cold during our visit and we didn't get to enjoy the porch, luckily the view is still beautiful from every room, so we didn't miss anything! The only thing I would say is that if you are of a "larger" frame you might find the shower a bit of a tight squeeze. But everything was extremely clean, well-stocked, and cozy! Hoping we get to visit again soon!
What a great view from this rental! We have a photography business and came up from the coast to take pictures of the leaves changing in NC. We only had to go to the deck to see the beauty of what we came to photograph. It is located at the top of the crest. Mr. Stanley was there to tell us what peaks we were seeing and he is very good company too. We had our dogs and he was very accommodating with everything! We have made a new friend and will come back to see him!
My husband and I stayed at George's cabin for our honeymoon, and were SO happy with it! It was clean and pretty and homey inside, and George was extremely helpful and kind. We cooked a lot in the cabin, and George even graciously came down once to help us re-light the pilot on the gas stove. :) We really enjoyed how close the cabin was to Asheville, and made quite a few trips to coffee shops and stores in downtown Asheville, as well as walking the River Arts District. And a nice grocery store (Ingles) was very close by as well. We also made the 45-min trip to Chimney rock, and another to hike Mt. Pisgah. Both were so worth it! We really enjoyed the beautiful views off the front porch also. Be prepared though for some hairpin turns on the road leading up to the cabin! But it's worth the views. :) Additionally, we changed our plans and left a night early and George refunded us, which was unexpected and extremely kind. Overall, we were so happy and would definitely return!
We had a wedding to attend on Sat. in Asheville so we made a weekend out of it with our dogs and had a great time relaxing at the cabin & hiking at Chimney Rock. The views from the room are beautiful and it was a perfect space for my husband and I.
