About Debi Ireland

We love people, horses, dogs and cats! Debi is an oil painter, a credentialed teacher and a licensed real estate broker. Gregg is a photographer, videographer and motorcycle enthusiast.

Debi Ireland purchased this cottage in 2010

Why Debi Ireland chose Valley Center

We have been living and riding horses in this rural corner of San Diego County for nearly 10 years and just love the beauty of this place and being so close to nature but only 40 miles from downtown San Diego. We are able to ride our horses from our property through the Hellhole Canyon preserve and the BLM land that backs right into our property.

The original owner took almost 10 years to construct the Pueblo and it is made almost entirely of poured concrete. This unique habitat had not been in use for many years and after purchasing the property in 2010, Debi decided to create a unique living space for others to enjoy as well as ourselves.

What makes this cottage unique

Living in this area provides the opportunity for star-gazing, hiking, trail riding, exploring the back country and observing birds and other small wildlife. The Pueblo is close enough to San Diego to enjoy a day at the beach, the San Diego Zoo, Mission Bay, or any other of San Diego's wonderful attractions not to mention there are 4 casinos within 15 miles of The Pueblo. The Safari Park is but a 30 minute drive from our property!

We are only 20 miles from the Palomar Mountain observatory!

Super Private. Super Relaxing.

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for an extremely private, relaxing getaway, go here. The hills surrounding the pueblo are very pretty, and the actual property is so comfortable. The owners respect your privacy, so you have the whole place to yourself. My wife and I didn't see another soul the entire time we were there. The best thing about our weekend here was how little we did. There are no distractions here, so we got to lounge around on the sun deck for hours, relax in the hot tub, watch some movies on the tv, and cook our meals on the grill. Pretty much a perfect weekend.

I seriously can not describe how quiet and relaxing this place is. If you're looking for a place to go where you can get away from day-to-day distractions for a few days, sunbathe, and enjoy lots of peace and quiet, this is the place for you!

Nice Getaway Spot!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were looking for a spot to decompress - a private little spot to truly relax. This little artsy retreat was just the spot!

It's definitely private, but doesn't feel too far from town. There are great hiking trails right out the front door. A couple of great patio areas - our favorite had a fire pit, couple of chairs, table and chairs, and a cute little hot tub. We've decided we HAVE to get one ourselves. It's just the perfect size to two adults and has to be the most comfortable hot tub I've ever been in (probably because I'm so short). A great spot to relax and gaze at the stars above. The living area and bedroom are both super spacious and inviting. The DVD collection was great to have, as were the books and games. The bed was really comfy and between that and the quiet, quiet nights - we slept like babies. The kitchen is separate from the rest of the house, but that didn't bother us at all. With the beautiful weather in California, it really wasn't an issue. The owners live next door but you never hear from or see them unless you need something. We ran into Debi while we were out on a walk one day and she told us about a great hike to take - which turned out to be pretty spectacular (Thanks Debi). Other than that, we didn't see them.

It truly was just what we were looking for. Quiet. Private. Cozy. Peaceful. And in a beautiful spot on top of all that! We hope to return to this little piece of paradise. Highly recommend!

Relaxing retreat!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful relaxing retreat! Artsy, rustic, cool. Just pack in your champagne, steaks, cheese and fruit. And grill on the patio, relax, feed the goldfish, dart in and out if your private hot tub. Enjoy a fire under the stars. Actually happy I had no cell phone coverage, beautiful views, secluded, great hiking right out your door. Our hosts Gregg and Debi were fantastic!! We are already looking at our calendars and planning on returning!

Awesome place and owner!

  • 5 of 5

Took my wife here for our 15th anniversary. Not only was the property peaceful and very private, but the owner's attitude and hospitality was impeccable. She's close by if you need her but never intrusive. It feltlike we owned the mountains while we were there and we've been missing it every moment since we left.

The Peaceful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our visit was so peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed the remote hiking experiences and came back everyday for our barbeque feast, hot tubing and evening fire events. This unique facility was fun, clean, as advertised and the warm February weather was a great break from our MN winter!
