WONDERFUL HOME WITH LOTS OF CHARCTER

  • 5 of 5
Our family of 4 stayed up here as our home base while explored Leelanau and the Old Mission Peninsula. The water frontage is beautiful and the house is very comfortable and welcoming. Highly recommend!

WEDDING WEEKEND

  • 5 of 5
We had a great time on the property. It had everything we needed. The only thing that wasn't perfect were the beds, they were to hard.

REALLY SPECIAL AND UNIQUE PLACE

Jim and his extended family are great hosts. The property was a
Total "10" if you know anything about Leelanau area places to stay.

We had a great time and will make a point to get back!

AWESOME VACATION RENTAL!

  • 5 of 5
This rental turned out to be exactly what we wanted, and more. The photos and description don't even do it justice. It is a well maintained property with plenty of room for our 5 adults, 2 dogs, and 1 child. The interior of the house has so much character and charm, and the layout worked really well. The sound system extending onto the back porch was an added bonus. We loved being close enough to town to walk to Tom's grocery store, the marina, playgrounds, restaurants (definitely try The Garage for in-house smoked meats and the famous whitefish sandwhich) and ice cream parlor. The spacious yard and private beach were just right for us too. The scenery was beautiful everywhere we went, and Northport was quiet and relaxing while still providing enough activities in the surrounding area to keep us busy for at least a week. We were able to take day trips to hike at Sleeping Bear Dunes, shop in Sutton's Bay, and experience Fishtown in Leland, as well as search for Petoskey stones on the beaches of Cathead Bay and Christmas Cove, climb the lighthouse at Leelanau State Park, drink wines and ciders from the local tasting rooms, and take in the sunset at Peterson Park. As much as I enjoy exploring and trying new places for vacations, I would love to visit this home again in the future. Thank you Chris, for making the rental so carefree, and Jim, for all the adventures!

VERY FAMILY FRIENDLY

  • 5 of 5
We had such a great week here last year, I'm finding it hard to explore another state and not compare to all the fun we had in Michigan. Chris, who manages the property, went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. We took his suggestions for dining in Traverse City, watching the sunset at Peterson Park, renting SUP boards in Sutton's Bay, and the concert in the park.
We had 2 families staying there (4 adults and 4 children) and we were very comfortable. There is a cute room upstairs that the girls used and the boys liked sleeping in the room near the porch. With 2 couples, one couple will definitely get a better room with a deck overlooking the water. However, the other room stays dark while the sun may wake you in the room with the view.
We pulled a 18 foot boat and owner Jim let us tie it up in the water and enter from his dock. Jim and his daughter that was visiting him helped the kids with kayaks and whatever we needed. Jim lives next door but never intruded. The kayaks were a favorite for the kids!
I would recommed a day trip to Sleeping Bear Dunes. The Dune Climb is a must-see. The sand is hot so you'll want to wear shoes for it. There was a Cherry Republic on the way too. I would also recommend The Hearth & Vine cafe at Black Star Farms in Sutton's Bay. They have a winery and make their own cheese. Kids can feed and pet the farm animals.
Our favorite place to eat in Northport was Stubb's Grill. They had great burgers.
We took 2 big dogs with us and Jim's dog would occasionally come over to play with our dogs. The dogs loved the water too!
Thanks Chris and Jim for all the great memories!!

BEAUTY BLESSINGS BEYOND BELIEF !

  • 5 of 5
The invitation to stay at this beautiful home is a fairytale in itself. Upon my arrival, in GOD's country, I was amazed at the beautiful surroundings both inside and out! Nestled Superbly in Northport Bay within the Majestic Grand Traverse Bay's West side.

Upon walking inside, my breath was taken away by the unbelieveable warmth and style of the decor that enveloped me like a pair of warm arms. The nautical style, warmth and charm of a cottage was exactly out of my dreams and I didn't want to leave. I felt like a fairytale princess and was greeted with an undescribeable sunrise every morning, streaming through my balcony door, overlooking the Bays. Each room is decorated with charm and a special theme that compliments the entire home.

The outside and surrounding area is just a magical and won my heart. From the beautiful crystal clear waters to the countryside; it was all amazing! I felt like a little girl in a candy store (which there's one in Sutton's Bay) and everywhere I looked was new and exciting! The entire pennisula has a variety of things to do and see. I hadnt been up in this area for 20 yrs, but I know it won't take that long to convince me to get back up there again.

The owner, Jim was a gentleman and great host. Along with his caretaker Chris, I was presented with many opportunities to pursue.

I know now that dreams really do come true and will go back to this little piece of Heaven as soon as I can.

Thank you for your hospitality Jim; it was/is all amazing!

With Love, Blessing & Prayers!
