The cottage is rented out only 3 weeks in a season. This sunny cottage is ideally located. It is a 5 minute walk to the beach, and a short walk to the library, grocery store. The downstairs is an open room concept with living room, dining room and kitchen separate but open. There are 1 1/2 baths and an outdoor shower to rinse off after the beach. Lobsters can be delivered to your door. The large front yard is great for croquet (provided). Sit on the deck and enjoy the island! Chebeague is like going back 60 years for friendliness, safety and charm, but the island has many updates for today. Check out the great library. We keep a notebook in the cottage for activities to do.
My kids grew up south of Portland. We love Maine in the summer, and especially Chebeague Island. The grandkids have a wonderful time coming here. Everyone is friendly and helpful on this island community. You can 'rent' bikes for free on the island and discover the different beaches.
Joan French purchased this cottage in 2001
This cottage is so ideally located. You have other cottages around, yet still have a feeling of privacy. Everything is within an easy distance. You can look out to Crow Island.
If you want to eat a wonderful sandwich or a bowl of chowder, you can easily walk down to the Niblic and sit out upstairs overlooking the boats and islands. It's great if you have a boat of your own, you can come to the boatyard, set up your boat and stay at the cottage so close-by. This cottage was built around 1905, but as you can see by the pictures, the downstairs is updated but remains charming. The upstairs is pure Maine cottage - Fun to hear the rain on the upstairs roof, and enjoy the great views. You can grill out on the deck!
You can enjoy a wonderful dinner out on the porch at the Chebeague Inn, or a fun dinner at the Clam Shack!
