DAHLONEGA'S HISTORIC DOWNTOWN IS A SHORT 8 miles away 15 MINUTES DRIVE. IT IS THE HOME OF THE OLDEST COURTHOUSE IN THE STATE OF GEORGIA. THE COURTHOUSE HAS BEEN PRESERVED AS A MUSEUM SHOWCASING DAHLONEGA'S HISTORY AS THE SITE OF THE FIRST U.S. GOLD RUSH IN 1828. THE HISTORIC BUILDINGS DOWNTOWN HOUSE MANY SHOPS AND RESTAURANTS THAT RANGE FROM HOME COOKING TO FINE DINING. THE WEEK-ENDS ARE FILLED WITH MANY ACTIVITIES INCLUDING FESTIVALS, ART AND MUSIC. THERE IS ALWAYS ENTERTAINMENT AT THE CRIMSON MOON CAFE. THE HOLLY THEATRE OFFERS MANY BROADWAY PLAYS FOR ENJOYMENT.

THERE ARE MANY THINGS TO DO IN DAHLONEGA INCLUDING OUTDOOR SPORTS SUCH AS KAYAKING, FISHING, HIKING, MOUNTAIN BIKING, CYCLING AND GOLF. About The Owner

AFTER RETIRING IN 2002 MY HUSBAND AND I BUILT THE MAIN HOUSE. LAST YEAR WE COMPLETED THE COTTAGE. WE ENJOY CAMPING, GARDENING AND BUILDING THINGS. WE HAVE A SMALL LAB NAMED BELLA. SHE ADOPTED US IN 2004. SHE HAD NEVER BEEN OFF THE MOUNTAIN - SINCE THEN SHE TRAVELS WITH US EVERYWHERE.

Why The Owner chose Dahlonega

MY HUSBAND WAS VISITING HIS DAUGHTER IN ATLANTA SEVERAL YEARS AGO , AND HAPPENED UPON THIS SITE AND FELL IN LOVE WITH THE LOCATION.

My wife and I really enjoyed this cabin. The owners were extremely helpful and the cabin itself was well-kept, clean, and had everything we wanted. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone seeking an enjoyable time near Dahlonega.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

This cabin was absolutely perfect for our weekend of sightseeing. It is the perfect "base camp" for those who wish to scout out all the wonderful scenery in the area and come back to a nice cozy cabin to rest and relax. We were looking for a view and we were not disappointed one bit. The view from the cabin is AWESOME! The location is perfect for sightseeing in many different parts of North Georgia. The hosts were super gracious and helpful with any questions we had. This is definitely our future "base camp" when we return to the area to explore more waterfalls, wineries, and other points of interest.
Recommended for:  Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway

Weekend getaway

it was our first trip to dahlonega and the small little cabin was a great place to stay. the owners were very nice and we really enjoyed learning about the history of the cabin. it's really neat that they built the cabin and their house all by themselves. the view is really awesome from the lower and upper porches. the kitchen is very nice as well and allows alot of freedom to prepare meals if desired. we would definitely plan on going back sometime in the future.

The view from the cabin is second to none. The cabin was very clean. The owners are very nice. A few things to consider when renting this one, there is no inside lounging area. There needs to be an additional sofa chair to sit in, as there is only one. Also, the parking is a little hard, but you can get the hang of it after a couple of times. It has baseboard heat, portable heaters and a window unit for air, no central heat/air. The road to the cabin is paved, so that is a plus!
Recommended for:  Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway
Owner's Response: These travelers are REALTORS I'm not trying to sell the Cabin, I only want to rent over night. Since all my other guest were so happy I didn't change anything about the house. The next renters after them gave me 5 stars. Maybe i should not rent to REALTORS again. Please read my other reviews.
