Guestbook comments from the owner

This was our first rental ever in Provence and the owners made the process very easy for us. The house was easy to find, and upon our arrival, they were on site to greet us and show us everything we needed to know. They live in the adjoining house, but we had total privacy throughout our stay.

The house is a short drive from a full-service supermarket "Super U" in Coustoullet, plus smaller shops and stores in Robion. It is also close to the main east-west highway making it strategically located for going in any direction, including Les Baux, St-Remy, and Avignon, in addition to all the lovely villages eastward into the Luberon (Menerbes, Bonnieux, etc.).

The house is very well maintained and everything was in good working order. The interior decor is typically provancal. The shower was deluxe. The pool is a little small, but the weather was cool during our week and we did not use it much. We enjoyed the lovely view of the petit Luberon mountain range...

A green oases in the valley of Luberon

  • 5 of 5
The villa was still better than the pictures showed ... the garden was very beautiful and the hous was even bigger. We easely stayed six adults - and a baby. Everything was very nice. The kitchen had al things that were needed for cooking for a large family. No need for air-con: the fans in every room worked perfect.
The hosts were very friendly and helpfull.
The villa is perfect for visitting the Luberon Vallley. Short distance to many romantic villages, as well visiting Avignon and Aix-En-Provence. Our favorites are theater-festival in Avignon, the castle and Cafe de France in Lacoste, Rousillion and the Venice of Provence: Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.
We can recommend this house in our favorite part of France.

Quelle vacances!

  • 5 of 5
The villa and grounds were exactly as shown, which was why we chose this one. Hervé and Emma were wonderful hosts. They were there when we needed them, but left us alone the rest of the time. Maubec was very convenient to the Roman sites we wanted to visit, but not a crowded tourist site. There is a wonderful restaurant in Old Maubec called La Bergerie where we ate at least three times. We would happily recommend this villa to anyone who wants to visit the area in the future.

You'd be lucky to find a better holiday villa!

You'd be lucky to find a better holiday villa!

Set at the foot of the Lubéron hills in tranquil surroundings, La Ciéba provided the ideal spot for a relaxing holiday - the property is every bit as good as it looks in the photos. Emma and Hervé (the property owners) made us feel most welcome. The villa was clean and fully equipped as described; we particularly enjoyed being able to eat outside and made good use of the barbecue. The garden is worth a mention too - with a wide variety of trees, shrubs and bushes, planted with care, the garden provided privacy, shade (we loved the hammocks and bamboo seating area) and natural interest (Sardinian Warblers living in the corner, Bee Eaters and Raptors overhead, etc.). We also appreciated the regular supplies of seasonal produce from Hervé - fruit tastes much better in Provence!
Situated near the Péage, Maubec is an excellent base for exploring the area. We made it to Nimes (well worth a visit) in 90 minutes and Les Baux in 60 minutes and Avignon, Arles and Orange were easy to reach. Though there was plenty to see and do in these larger towns/cities we probably enjoyed exploring the hill-top villages of the Lubéron more. Of the villages we managed to see, Rousillon and Oppede le Vieux were our favourites - Rousillon, for the spectacular soil colours and Oppede for the "like going back in time" feel.
For a small village, Coustellet provided most of our food - the Sunday market was fantastic (don't miss it) and the Boulangerie on the D900 (after a right turn at the lights at the junction with the D2 it is on the left hand side of the road before Super U) was truly splendid. For those liking massive supermarkets, the Auchan in Cavaillon was big!
To sum up, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Mubec and would have absolutely no hesitation recommending La Ciéba. We were sad to leave after our fortnight of sun, sight-seeing and relaxation but will have fond memories thanks, in no small part, to Emma and Hervé.

Beautiful, peaceful house; perfectly located

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I spent a wonderful week at La Ceiba with our three boys. We had been traveling for two weeks prior--in and out of hotels and apartments of questionable quality--so it was a delight to be welcomed into such a wonderful house. It is handsomely renovated and very clean. The bathroom is truly a delight, as other reviewers have commented; the kitchen offers everything; there is a dishwasher and washing machine which--depending on the length of your stay--are greatly appreciated.

There's also room to breathe and expand in this house, which is great if you have kids... a kitchen, a dining area with a round table, a family room styled area with a television and sofa, a closed porch and three bedrooms. Outside there is a large backyard for the kids to run around and play, a shaded terrace (where we did most of our dining) and a sunny patio by the pool. There is also a secluded seating area surrounded by bamboo where one can cool down. Not that it's terribly hot...Emma and Hervé have been there for many years, so there are a number of tall, established trees on the property. They are not only beautiful to behold, but they provide crucial shade (which is rather lacking in this area). Most properties in the area are very exposed. I didn't realize how important that would be, but we truly lucked out!

Otherwise, the house is close to Robion (3 min car, 20 min walk) for your basics: boulangeries, bank, small supermarket, restaurants. There's a Dia supermarket and a Super U within driving if you need more stuff. 50 minutes to Avignon. There are many old, small towns in the area, so tootling around by car is highly recommended. But, I must say, we spent considerable time in the pool, which was perfectly sized for our boys (two of whom are still learning to swim, so no 12-ft end here).

Emma and Hervé are most welcoming and helpful, while respectful of your privacy. We did lose our Wi-Fi connection, and they promptly fixed it without intrusion. (Yes, work follows one everywhere...)

We were five, but the house can easily sleep six (two queens and two twins). There's no AC, but there are ceiling fans in all bedrooms except the one upstairs.

We would highly recommend La Ceiba as a place to stay in the Lubéron area.
