What do you get when you give a 1500 S.F. split level Penthouse 80 ft above THE DIRIA HOTEL with its pools and stunning gardens that are front and center on the white sand beaches of Tamarindo to renowned architect Xyanna Bateau to design and decorate from scratch WITH NO BUDGET? You get an ethereal, hauntingly memorable masterpiece dubbed THE BEACH NEST by the creator.
As the author of this description, when I first saw THE BEACH NEST I mumbled “ I’ve never seen anything like it” (and I honestly hadn’t). The theme of the property is an airy Tropical Indonesian style with a Balinese motif and can put the observer and occupant in a dreamlike trance to start their special holiday. Does this magnificent getaway fit in with the Pura Vida which C.R. is famous for-I think so. The Architect/Designer has captured the essence of elegance throughout. However it is also practical and designed for water toy storage and with wet people in mind. You see Title block and all marble and wood floors with hand carved wood accents in abundance and then you feel amazement.
The living room has a wonderfully unique, long curling sectional where the sections convert into a comfortable bed . I then stepped up to an elevated Dining Room that I thought was really hip. There are two Master suites, one on each floor with King size beds, a full kitchen with everything a chef could desire and a nice laundry room are other amenities that make you feel at home. This Penthouse is unique and in a class by itself.
In this habitat fit for royalty the piece of resistance was a combined 40 Feet of spacious balconies on Two floors with panoramic views of the Sea and Coast from every spot. That is when I went “wow” for the 2nd time. The wide Tamarindo beaches are steps away.
I found antique columns everywhere and heavy grained cedar paneling. I felt the many original Costarican art works fit in well with everything else. You overlook a 10,000 sq ft pool and gardens directly below. THE BEACH NEST sleeps 6. All of the wonderful hotel amenities are available to you; restaurants, pools, room service, massages. Your wish is our command. We provide complimentary maid and laundry service. Nannies, chefs, private Tour Guides and much ,much more are available to our guests during your 5 star stay. We provide a level of service that will far exceed your expectations. Contact us and spend a memorable and affordable vacation with us and receive the TLC you deserve.

I am a businessman nearing retirement that loves surfing. When I'm not in Costa Rica I can't wait to get back. I've traveled all over the world to many of the so called garden spots but this is the first place I encountered where I wanted to own live in.
Joel Hookerman purchased this townhome in 2010
I fell in love with The Diria Condominiums. When the R.E Agent showed me this multi level Penthouse it blew me away. I spared no expense in what I feel was a labour of love furnishing it. We have 50 feet of balcony on two floors with unobstructed views of the ocean and entire Guanacaste coast. We overlook Tamarindo beach and miles of wide white sand beaches with few rocks. I surf literally right in front of my property. I can use all the amenities of the Hotel including Room Service. It's gated, with 24/7 security and quiet as a tomb at night the way i like it. My Penthouse is 80 feet above sea level and the views lift my spirits every time.
A 10000 sq foot pool and additional 50 meters pool for laps directly in the heart of Tamarindo Beach, walking distance to everything. A revered Architect/Designer did this property and I love her work which I affectionately call the Beach Nest. You will cherish the ambiance and embrace the tranquility you feel sitting on our spacious balconies with a glass of our best wine and looking out at the Coast and the emerald blue sea.
We came home (Bellevue, WA) last night from out stay at the Beach Nest. WOW what a wonderful experience. We have been to Tamarindo before but this penthouse is the best. The moment you enter you know you are in a special place. The renovation is first class. We were two couples so the two master suites was perfect, in fact it was hard to rate one suite over the other. The kitchen was great, since we like to cook in for about half of our meals. The living area is beautiful to look at but also very comfortable. The balcony area is a definite plus, since the sunsets are the VERY BEST from there. We watched a sunset from the beach also but it was still better from the balcony. There is balcony for the upstairs suite also which a great place to lounge while reading a book or just taking a nap. It was very warm this year so we appreciated how well the air conditioning worked through out the penthouse.
Joel was wonderful as always (our 3rd time with him), he gave us an update on the restaurants and made sure we were taken care of upon arrival and arranged a driver to Liberia for our departure. Nothing unexpected which we really appreciate when traveling.
We arranged our own sunset cruise on the Antaris sailboat, I would highly recommend this cruise, it is truly unforgettable; great food, live guitar music and the bean bag chairs on the deck were wonderful.
Costa Rica and the Beach Nest...AMAZING!!!
My husband, daughter, son in law and grandson had the most wonderful vacation in Tamarindo. The Beach Nest had everything we needed and more. We had boogie boards, balls, pails and shovels everything you needed for the 3 year old and adults alike.
Joel was wonderful in explaining everything we needed to know. His recommendations were spot on for dining and we even found one that Joel had not been to yet. Bula Bula was a short boat ride that was amazing and offered grat food.
The only drawback were the stairs to get to the Beach Nest a elevator would have been great !!! Other than that I would highly recommend a trip to the Beach Nest and Tamarindo. You could not ask for better weather or friendlier people.
My family (my husband, our two small children ages 18 months and 4 1/2), my parents and adult brother just spent an amazing weekend at the Beach Nest. The condo is beautiful and fully equipped. There is a double size balcony that has a bbq, dining table and additional seating. From each room you can see the beautiful ocean. The sunset from the balcony was just perfect. We were lucky enough to spend New Year's Eve at the condo. The Diria hotel hosts a big dinner party which is right below the condo. We did not attend but sat on the balcony all night listening to the music. At midnight the sky was full of fireworks and floating lanterns..just amazing to see. We spent many hours in the wonderful pool (and pool bar) just below the condo. Everything was easily walkable..restaurants, bars, the beach. We have been to Costa Rica multiple times and really enjoyed Tamarindo. The only thing I would warn potential renters about is the stairs. There are stairs going up from the pool and then another 3 flights heading up to the condo. This was not a problem at all for my husband and I, but for my parents (ages 67 and 68 it was a little difficult). Just something to consider. Other than that all I can say is I cant wait to go back!
We have been long time, long-term renters for several years. When I first saw this listing over my husband's shoulder I said, "OMG, can we stay there?" We had never been to Costa Rica before and ended up for our first trip in the Beach Nest for 4 months. The contrast is dramatic when you live in a winter climate-you can see the ocean from every room in the condo. The views are knockout. The decor is stunning-rich wood everywhere with details that only someone with a true passion for Balinese luxury would include. Over the years I have added some things to the already fully equipped kitchen. It was so great to have friends over for dinner-they were envious that we had everything we needed to cook and serve like at home. The pool below the condo is huge and great because it only goes to about four and a half feet. The very nice, helpful property manager, Joel, knows all the best restaurants (there are many-Carlos Y Carlos is amongst our favorites. TIco to go is like Tasty Taxi-they will pick up a great steak dinner from one restaurant and then pick up amazing banana cream pie from Nogui's! This is one of the most beautiful condos with one of the most spectacular ocean views we have ever stayed in. (The pictures of the view really do not do it justice). The ocean and a lovely beach are just a short walk across the street. Hoping your stay is as memorable as ours!
It's hard to put into a few words the wonderful experience we had at the Beach Nest! It is right in the middle of town but when you are up in your little nest, it feels like miles away! We loved the walk up to our room-if taking the steps there are 92 of them! Made the great gelato taste even better! There are monkeys right outside the back door, iguanas in the tree walking to the beach and two swimming pools if you tire of the beach. The décor is beautiful inside the condo and Joel made us feel welcome from the beginning with his recommendations of restaurants and places to go-all a walk away. We had a small water problem and it was fixed within hours after we called him!
We loved Tico's for breakfast-truly felt like you were in Costa Rica. We loved Bamboo Sushi and Patagonia-fabulous food-either beef or fish! Dragonfly also had great food and was away from the center of town.
The beach is beautiful-clean and the sand almost the easiest sand we have walked on. We love to walk miles up and down the beach and the waves pounded against the volcanic rock!
Both bedrooms gave a wonderful view of the sunrise. The moon was full while we were there and you could see it glistening on the ocean all night long. So peaceful and serene.
Just a note-this is not for the disabled-there is a lot of walking to and from the beach and into town. We loved it but it would be hard for someone who is unable to do steps.
Would love to see the fan cleaned in the upper room and the shower heads in the bathrooms changed out. Otherwise it was so great to have everything you need including a washer and dryer so my clothes all came home clean! How great is that? !
We just spent a week at the Beach Nest in Tamarindo and this place is awesome. It is fully equiped with everything you need and provides a comfortable home while on vacation. I highly recommend this over a hotel room. More space, very nicely decorated, great location, overall more comfortable than a hotel room. Two couples would have plenty of room in this condo. The balcony has excellent sunset views - can't be beat quite honestly. The location seems to be in the center of town, everything is within walking distance. Lots of great restuarants nearby - take Joel's recommendations. Although with the fully equiped kitchen you really never have to eat out if you want to prepare your meals. Grocery stores are close by. There is plenty of wildlife at the Diria - lots of iguanas at the pool and howler monkeys right off the balcony, the neighbors even had a monkey on the balcony one afternoon. The swimup pool bar is convenient; we also enjoyed the adult pool. We vacationed during the off season/rainy season, so it was quiet and somewhat private. Very relaxing week. We hated to see it come to an end. Highly recommend Tamarindo and the Beach Nest/Diria - you won't be disappointed.
