A Cottage in the Country

The week my husband and I just spent at the Mayflower Farm Cottage, was a wonderful experience. The cottage, recently renovated is spacious and full of comfort. So much well thought out planning went into the project. The spacious, well planned kitchen is generously equipped for cooking or watching someone cook for you! The surrounding views from every room are breathtaking and serene, from early morning sun, to beautiful evening shadows that outline the gorgeous rolling hills.
One of many unique experiences here is to enjoy the daily routine of the sheep who live here; watching them travel out from their barn in the morning,, fan out in their pastures; find their own favorite grazing spots, and hear them vocalize their contentment.
A lucky happenstance was the birth of a baby lamb during our stay. Peter saw us out on the deck and invited us into the nearby barn to meet the mother, and hold the one day old baby!
Peter and Ellen are gracious hosts, and great sources of where to find wonderful restaurants, interestng little towns close by, and the many Farmers' Markets in this area.
We especially enjoyed dinner at The Old Mill, just minutes away from the cottage, and a candlelit dinner on the patio at The Old Inn On The Green in nearby New Marlborough.
Egremont is pristine and peaceful, and so accessible to nearby cultural treasures; Tanglewood and Jacob's Pillow are just two of the treats we enjoyed while staying in this wonderful place.
We noticed some day-hikers, identifiably dressed in gear to walk through parts of the Appalachian Trail. This long and well known Trail, passes right by the cottage. Entrances to the Trail can be seen in many abutting towns.
We anticipate returning to this special place. We feel very fortunate to have found this unique little paradise.
Kudos to Peter and Ellen, for sharing this place.
